Our kitchen is small but not that small and I really have no clue how he could not see that it was open. I see it all the time, I close it. It's my brother who keeps leaving it open and he knows better.

I overheard my mom talking, he dropped plates because he hit his head then grabbed another plate and broke it. I really don't get it.
