i'm currently back on the island on which i grew up (moved away 7 months ago) so this is all sort of relevant. I had next to no friends here because it was a fairly small community which hated anything different.
Since I moved away i've been accepted into a friends group of around 12 people in which most of my likes and interests are similar or just accepted.
