In the US you have to be 18 to sign a contract. Full stop. Any signature made when you're under 18 is completely nullable. If a parent signs, the PARENT is the one bound by the contract, and the PARENT is the one responsible for making sure that the terms of the contract are met. I prefer having the contract be signed by someone who actually understands the work that needs to be done.
