I think you need to direct your anger at their situation or their parents. The economy is HORRIBLE right now and I honestly don't see it getting any better any time soon. Another thing you can do is tell your friend who has a stable home life that she can't ask you for money any more. I don't know what she can do to fix her situation other than confronting her step mother but, for all you know, she could be lying about that altogether.

I tend to look at the darker side of things before even considering the "good" or "easy" side, lol.
