@Batty: no A/C should be illegal in any area that reaches over 100°F for more than 3 weeks each year. I was shocked to find cars with no A/C being sold in Phoenix, AZ. BRAND NEW CARS with no A/C. That's not just stupid, it's torture!

We only have a swamp cooler in the house I live in now, but it's usually 20°F cooler than Phoenix because of our elevation. And, it's "a dry heat", so the swamp cooler does help- but it's murder on my arthritis.

Ugh, my eyes decided they were too tired to continue focusing. And, boy howdy are they DRY!
