Hot Tip: You don't need to register a copyright for it to be a copyright. However, if somebody does try to use your copyright for monetary gain, you have to register it before you take the case to court. You can register the copyright after the offending person tries to use it as long as you have proof of your copyrighted material before the incident.
That's one of the very few things I actually remember from my media law class. :3
