We're all mad here.
Little details between DMs can make for intersting experiences. I will pretty much let people try anything and make up a roll for it on the spot, whatever I feel is appropriate. I hardly bother to stat things out fully.

My sister on the other hand, will take anything said as happening (does keep the players paying attention). If the bard makes an annoyed coment about smacking someone over the head with a guitar, he smacks someone over the head with a guitar (even if there isn't one in the vicivinty, the player will find one). If the sorcer and contruct get in a tussle above a cliff with a lair on the bottom (this actually happened) and the sorcerer decides to push said contstruct over the edge (more of a big hill really) it happens, then he construct grabs the sorcerer on teh way down and rolls his 500 pound body overtop of him a few times. Bludgeoning damage.

My brother is a tech head. While my sister and I are pen and paper, photocopies and maybe some handdrawn stuff, he's computer generated maps, little animations and sounds, player icons and fog of war. Of course, that means it takes a long time for things to get made.

My brother and I are very thorough mappers, and plan out rooms in great detail; my sister tend to wing it half the time. Look! A randon pond and tree stuffed with flying snakes! That proceed to tear my backpack appart trying to get at the honey jar I picked out of from the bee-people hive. >.<
