I'm actually rewriting an novel I wrote a while back. Ahaha, I just felt like it lacked storyline I guess?
well that's pretty cool, too!
Sorry to get off topic, but do you RP since you're a writer too?
nope, i don't RP. i also can't write on demand/command, either...
Ah, I understand. I have some days when I feel like that. XD I wish I could find some RP partners on here though.
yeah, i getcha.
Well I am definitely going to join soon then. I love writing and while I've always wanted a book of mine published I've leaned more towards manga lately since my art life took over my writing life about four years ago when I first began using Photoshop to draw things digitally.
awesome!
i think you can sign up at nanowrimo.org anytime, but they totally redo the site in september or so to get ready for that year's NaNo. my writing life, reading life, and everything else got taken over in 2012 when i started crocheting.... |
Crocheting? XD Oh gosh! I tried once, but it takes the skilled to do it I guess.^^'
yep, crocheting. that "ravelry" link in my profile will take you to my notebook on ravelry, that has all my projects in there. (and some of my daughters' as well.) =D
*u* The shawls are so pretty!
thank you! =)
Do you sell them? I might be interested in buying one if you do.
no, i don't sell them.
Ah, very well. They're beautiful though, I'll give you that. :)
thanks!
oh, if you do sign up on the NaNo site, i'm trystan over there. =) |
Alright, I'll be sure to find you when I do. :)
yaaay!
(and i've gotten others to join the nano and write as well, too. heee....) |
Haha, writing is a pretty fun thing. I've been writing since I was eight, so that could for eight years going on 9 since I turn 17 in May? Haha, it's crazy I guess.
it is fun, but i don't always write. i wrote my first story when i was 12, so i've been writing pretty much for 32 years! (i'm 44). my older daughter is 17, and she's been writing for a while as well... maybe since she was 8 or 10 or so?
Haha, that's great! It's always good to start writing early if you're into it. I actually read a lot of books when I was little, so maybe that is why I have good grammar and punctuation. I'm also a speed reader because of it.
i love to read too... and i read to both daughters when they were babies. they still like to read, but i think the younger one likes to read more, while the older one writes more. =)
I can see that. As you get older most tend to want to do things for themselves, try it out and the such. What is it like being an adult? I mean I have a year left of being considered a "teen", so... Just curious. What is it like in the beginning?
i'm probably not the one to ask about what it's like being an adult. i mean, i have a job (well, two, one mon-thurs, the other fri-sun) and i have to pay bills, but really i'm a big kid at heart. =)
my younger daughter tried doing NaNo, and while she did meet her Young NaNo goal, i think she kinda got bored with the whole writing process. |
Ah I see. I mean sometimes writing can get boring, especially when you're writing those filler chapters, or so I call them. After my senior year I'll be going off to college to become a computer programmer (major) and an digital artist (minor). So I have lots of work ahead of me but I don't mind it.
a LOT of my NaNo writings are a lot of filler fluff-n-stuff, words thrown in for descriptions, even if it's redundant. i think the only NaNovel i've written that didn't need a ton of fluffy stuff was my first one. i totally knew what i was writing and where it was going.
i'm what NaNo writers call a "pantser" - i write "by the seat of my pants." the opposite would be a planner. i might plan the next section i want to write, or the general 'where my character needs to go'... but detailed planning is totally not my style. |
I enjoy planning things out, but most of the days I'm just too tired or busy with schoolwork to do so. So when I do get that time, I try my best to write down groups or strings of things that will happen or about the character development etc.
that works too. i tend to come up with "groups or strings of things that will happen" (as you say) as i'm writing. sometimes i know a few events i want to happen, and maybe they have to happen in a certain order, so i'll write that down. most of the time, though, i just write. =)
if you're interested: (the thing to keep in mind is that for the most part i haven't looked at these since i finished them. i think Lost Angel was proofread, but that's the only one....) 2012: Lost Angel 2013: Watching Time 2014: Yours in Time, Jacks i don't have Love on Rye (2011) in my google docs anymore though. |
Alright, I'll read them a little. Just give me a few hours.
aww... you don't have to read them right now... =)
Alright. :) Once I get caught up on art then perhaps.
okie dokey then. =)

Madame-Aiko - if you want to do a less structured type of NaNo, there will be Camp NaNoWriMo coming up in April. You won't have all of the write ins and organized activities that Municipal Liaisons coordinate (the local leaders of NaNo), but you can pick how many words you'll write and can sign up to join a "camp."
I've never done the camps, but I hear they can be fun. Another thing you win are 1/2 price on writing software. I've purchased 2 copies of Scrivner - one for my PC and one for my Mac. Love that software, although I haven't yet utilized it to its full potential. Everyone who writes the 50K words wins a winners certificate to download and winner icons. I think the biggest perk though is the self confidence that comes from taking on and achieving such a great goal. |

(of course, the only time i really write is november, so... yeah.) ;) |
Wow. Talk about an old thread.
Is anyone doing CampNaNoWriMo? I've been working on revising an old novel, working on planning my November NaNo and writing a few short stories. |
wow, very old thread!
i usually just do November NaNo. |
The last few years, I've been focusing more on art, tbh. I should try writing this year, to see what happens.
I've known a couple of people who worked on graphic novels for NaNo. That's always seemed like a great way to combine writing with art and great fun for all those good artists out there.
Reasons you should/should not participate in the National Novel Writing Month?
I've found this useful http://writersopt.com/20-things-inte...out-nanowrimo/ |
this year will be my 5th NaNo (i wrote in 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014)
it is a fast-paced writing marathon, and the theory is it gets you/a writer in the habit of writing something every day... all the time. i write starting Nov 1, and stop when i finish the story, and then don't write again until Nov 1. i have my own challenge - try to 'win' (ie, reach 50,000 words) by Thanksgiving. i'm a tried and true 'pantser' - i write by the seat of my pants. although this year, i have pages of notes because it's a timey-wimey 'prequel' to the story i wrote in 2014. i'm trystan830 on nanawrimo.org if anyone's interested or wants to add me as a writing buddy this year. =) |
