The Daily Awesome

Office went out for lunch today, so I didn't have to do dishes or take out the garbage at work today! (We don't leave food bits in the trash overnight).

What's your awesome today?

(Yes, "awesome" is a noun now. Deal with it. ;)

Gallagher 12-11-2015 03:09 AM

Got the package I've been expecting for a week. It's a keychain with a bunch of little potion bottles. I've got Gillyweed, Floo Powder, Felix Felicis, and Maximum Turbo Farts. My bestie made it all herself. It's pretty cool.

Tas 12-11-2015 03:20 AM

today was a pretty normal day, actually.

Fulkth 12-11-2015 03:21 AM

I took a 6 hour nap today hence why I am up at 1 in the morning. XD

Quiet Man Cometh 12-11-2015 03:26 AM

Six hour nap is still pretty awesome. I'm up until 1:00 am most of the time, anyway, nap or not.

Tas 12-11-2015 03:28 AM

I'm almost always up till one, that's nothing.

Espy 12-11-2015 03:30 AM

Look at all the ex-writers casually nouning verbs.

Fulkth 12-11-2015 03:31 AM

My sleeping times varies. The earliest I go to sleep is around 8 or 9. And the latest that I will go to bed is midnight.

Can't go any later than that if you have to get up in 6 hours!

I can be a stubborn pick about such things, like the use of the word "literally" for emphasis, even though it was added to the dictionary (how dare they?! *Brandishes Oxford comma placard*) but messing with language is fun. :)

Tas 12-11-2015 03:34 AM

dictionaries only tell you how words are used, they don't tell you how to use words.

Quiet Man Cometh 12-11-2015 03:36 AM

It does both, really, else we would never refer to a dictionary to figure out words.

I'm a nit-pick about language though, and I do not see how the definition of "literal" as being something as written, fits with emphasizing something, except by people messing it up so much that the mess up because easier to accept then to correct. Pox, I say! Pox!

Alright, done now. Will bring new awesome tomorrow. ;)

err, later today.

Tas 12-11-2015 03:38 AM

the only thing I use a dictionary for is to learn how people use words.

Espy 12-11-2015 03:42 AM

Oh puhleeze, the day doesn't roll over until 6am. Every self-respecting (?) college student learns this.

Den 12-11-2015 04:21 AM

Oh, to be up to staying up 'til all hours of the following day... I used to go 1.5-2 whole days without sleep when I was younger... One time, I went about 56 hours straight, at a convention. I paid for it the next few days though. Nowadays, I go from about 1:30-2:30 PM to about 5-6 AM the next day, unless I have someplace I need to be in the late morning. In those cases, I just stay up and crash later. I'd blame the almost year (seriously. If I'd've held out for one more month, I'd've had a year with the company) I worked graveyard shift from midnight to 8 AM for messing up my sleep schedule, if not for the fact that I spent almost twice as long adapting to somewhat more "normal" hours... especially during the 6 months I was homeless and living out of my car.

Tas 12-11-2015 04:44 AM

I stay up late, but I also sleep in. Going 56 hours without sleep is crazy! O.O

littl3chocobo 12-11-2015 09:55 AM

as someone who considers 530am to be sleeping in i take offense at that XD

Tas 12-11-2015 12:52 PM

that's not sleeping in, that's ridiculously early.

I admit to using the word "literally" for emphasis, but only when whatever I'm emphasizing was also literal.

"Why is this my fault, you literally screamed in my face!" Is fine if the person did, in fact, get all up in my face and scream at me. ;)

Coda 12-11-2015 04:13 PM

That's what I do, as well. And I can let it slide if someone actually means "effectively" or "practically" because that's more of an emphatic exaggeration rather than a misused and misunderstood negation.

Quiet Man Cometh 12-11-2015 08:01 PM

Thread is getting a little off topic here....

TODAY'S AWESOME

I got up for work this morning and it had snowed last night so all I had to do was brush it off my windows and be on my way! No scraping involved.

My stepsister also showed me the super secret Volkswagen technique for opening a stuck gas cover through the trunk.

Tas 12-11-2015 08:30 PM

today's awesome:

it's D&D night!

also, I got a call this morning asking me to come in for a job interview on Tuesday!

Espy 12-11-2015 10:14 PM

This is really random, but Sharky (my best metalhead friend) just shared this with me.

It's horrible. I want ten.

Ireland 12-12-2015 12:22 AM

5:30am is an unholy hour and should be treated as such.

I'm usually awake at that hour... because I haven't gone to sleep yet after getting up the previous afternoon.

Awesome thing for today: My boyfriend got me my Christmas gift, but I have to wait 'til after Christmas to use it: Plane tickets out to where he lives so I can spend New Year's Eve with him.

Fulkth 12-12-2015 01:31 PM

I was rolling around in bed this morning because I couldn't get back to sleep! Someone's vehicle was making loud noises this morning! >.>

Monorea 12-12-2015 01:56 PM

*Noms on rhubarb cake* And it taste awesome
I love saturday's we always have dessert.
Does this count?

Fulkth 12-12-2015 01:58 PM

I should make some dessert too! Dessert always makes everything better!

Monorea 12-12-2015 02:17 PM

Yupp sweet things make you happy, especially chocolate.

Tas 12-12-2015 04:42 PM

I do love sweet things. I think I mentioned something about sweet things in the verse of poem in my signature...

all the things that I love. <3

Fulkth 12-12-2015 05:29 PM

I had a dream about nutella so I woke up and ate some. XD
I also had some kit-kats today too.

Monorea 12-12-2015 05:34 PM

Nutella, the thing you just can't stop eating.
Very dangerous to have.

Tas 12-12-2015 05:39 PM

I've actually never had Nutella. o.o

Monorea 12-12-2015 05:42 PM

It's soooooo tasty, but even so you should never try it. It's way too easy to nom too much.

Ireland 12-12-2015 07:08 PM

Nutella is laced with crack, I fully convinced of this. >__>

My day isn't as great - still trying to get the manbeast to feel better. I had to cancel hanging out with my friends because I need to drive him to the massage therapist again. =/ Poor thing can't drive yet with his nerve all angry.

Edit: I did go to the market and get supplies. Which means I got myself some more eggnog so there IS that. X3

Espy 12-12-2015 07:26 PM

Nutella's fine and all, but in large quantities, it's way too sweet for me.

Quiet Man Cometh 12-12-2015 07:39 PM

Not being a fan of hazelnuts, I can do without Nutella.

Today's awesome: Day off so I'm wearing fuzzy pajamas all day!

Espy 12-12-2015 07:44 PM

Ugh, just thinking about fuzzy pajamas is making my ass itch.

It's somehow 66F here. Pittsburgh. Winter. It shouldn't be 66F. Heck, it shouldn't even be 46F. And to make matters worse, I'm screwing around on a CBT of a game that's highly graphics-intensive, and my laptop's clocking in at 94C.

Fulkth 12-13-2015 02:17 PM

My husband doesn't like hazelnuts, but he doesn't mind nutella. He says it doesn't really taste like hazelnuts. I just taste chocolate.

Lucid: 12-13-2015 07:57 PM

I pretty much just taste chocolate, too. Though I do like some nuts, cashews being my favorite.
