Is that an accomplishment or a "damn, I washed them wrong and they went baggy"?

Corsets actually do a fairly good job at shaping your waist and stomach, but you need to get the right type. It's not just a matter of size, contrary to many beliefs, but your overall figure determines whether you're better off with an overbust corset, underbust or waist cincher and what curvature it has to be designed for.

You need to look at your waist to hip ratio, which can be tricky when ordering online (as most stores only base their sizing on the waist circumference). An ideal fit occurs when you can lace the corset evenly (absolutely avoid any corsets which - when tried on - fit at the ribs and hip area but can't be closed to the same level at the waist. Those are tailored to a more hourglass figure). Don't buy corsets that fit at the waist but leave too much space at hips and chest even when laced (that's the same hourglass figure design, only a size or two larger).

I recommend an underbust over either a victorian blouse or pirate shirt. The wider "undergarment" along with the shorter corset will center attention on your chest area instead.

(Why do I even know this stuff? o.O)

Having said that, there's nothing wrong with geeky shirts. Just wanted to clear up the misconception only certain people can wear corsets.

hmm... good question, Death, why do you know that stuff?

I imagine the conversation in secret always goes like this...

Me: Okay, brain - this is an important fact I need to remember for my finals. Please store it in an easily accessible place.
Brain: Sure thing. The trash can sounds about right for your needs. Speaking of trash cans, did you know recycling one aluminum can saves enough energy to run a tv for three hours? And speaking of tvs, did you know the inventor of modern tv wouldn't let his kids watch any?
Me: So here's a completely useless fact I just stumbled across on the internet.
Brain: My precious! Give it to me! I'll preserve this treasure for all eternity!

Also, love that shirt ^^

trystan830 04-22-2017 05:22 PM

LOL! love the conversation with your brain!

and thanks... i love the shirt too, which is why i got it. =) i have other Dr Who and Star Wars shirts, and a few Harry Potter and Firefly shirts too.

and a shirt with a line art ball of yarn on it that said 'I'm a Crochet Addict on the Road to Recovery.' under the yarn ball it says, 'just kidding - i'm on the road to buy more yarn'!

Death by Mirrors 04-22-2017 05:31 PM

Death by Mirrors 04-22-2017 06:40 PM

Nah, more like... if I live the remaining month off ramen and stale bread, you know why XD

trystan830 04-22-2017 06:45 PM

wait until their shirts go on sale... for me a $14 shirt ends up being (rounding up) $21 with shipping! =)

Death by Mirrors 04-22-2017 06:48 PM

Good idea. I'm going to bookmark the site and distract myself elsewhere in the meantime. After all it's not that I don't own any geek shirts, I'm just always curious about what shirt creators came up with.

trystan830 04-22-2017 06:53 PM
