trystan830 11-25-2019 11:53 AM

so i finished NaNo on the 20th. yaaay!

Merskelly Metalien 11-25-2019 01:15 PM

eUe; I completely gave up in the first week I think, hnng!
</3 Not even sure of my word count..

trystan830 11-25-2019 01:17 PM

aw, sorry to hear this.... :S

Merskelly Metalien 11-25-2019 03:58 PM

Ahh, well. <:/
There's always next year. ^^;
AND there's always just free time to write! :] Regardless of month.

trystan830 11-25-2019 03:59 PM

yep, and yep.

no one says you can only write in november.

that just happens to be the time i write. XD

Merskelly Metalien 11-25-2019 04:05 PM

<u<; I kinda cheated trying to complete it tho. <x'}
I wrote most of the stuff before even hearing of NaNoWriMo..
;_; I am ashames.

trystan830 11-25-2019 09:29 PM

eh, it's fine. :)

Death by Mirrors 11-26-2019 04:33 AM

I always promise myself I will write during the 11 non NaNo months, and then I procrastinate, and then my mood resembles Merskelly's ice cream.

trystan830 11-26-2019 11:16 AM

basically for me, i write in november. i crochet and read from the time i'm done my NaNo until october 31. XD

Stabbsworth 11-26-2019 11:52 AM

ngl, it would be pretty fucking nice if i were able to write 50,000 words in a single sitting, but that requires a much faster typing speed on an older phone that's prone to having a glitchy screen than i currently have, and more than a few hours.

and editing.

and some beta readers, probably.

trystan830 11-26-2019 12:02 PM

actually.... there really is a thing among nano writers to try to write all 50k on day 1. o_O

this year, i got up to 50k on the 16th, and finally called it done on the 20th.

the link is in my sig (Tales from Odrea) should anyone want to read it. (or last years, which it's connected to. last year's is the very first text/link (The Thing With Feathers) in this year's story)

Stabbsworth 11-26-2019 12:45 PM

how the hell does one write 50k in the span of a single day.

trystan830 11-26-2019 12:56 PM

magic.

most likely that's alllll the person does that day, is write.

the most i've written in a day was 5295 words, and that was this year on the 9th. so says my spreadsheet.

Stabbsworth 11-26-2019 04:22 PM

like, i might be able to reach somewhere around 1000 words on a good day, but 50,000?

Death by Mirrors 11-26-2019 05:03 PM

I can make 6000 on a good day, but that's usually reserved for once I'm past 40k, because I sure like hell don't want to write the day after such a sprint.

trystan830 11-26-2019 06:52 PM

i'm thinking someone who writes the 50k in one day knows exactly where their story is going and what they want to write. they're also probably a planner, of which i'm about 5% planner XD

Death by Mirrors 11-27-2019 04:17 AM

They also need a hellish typing speed. Even if I calculate a whoppin' 16 hours (which isn't that unreasonable if all you ever do is write, quickly sip some water, write, munch a leftover candy bar, write and go to the toilet, and oh, did I mention write) then you're still at 3125 words per hour. Not entirely impossible, but show me someone who can keep up such high speed for a whole day. Hello wrist and finger pain.

trystan830 11-27-2019 12:18 PM

yeah, one of the people on one of the NaNo facebook group i'm on said pretty much the same thing, but i don't think he said anything about the toilet! :O

no, the most i've written in a day was 5295, and that's only because i knew where the story was going. XD

<x'} Lol, accurate!

Also couldn't write 50K if my life depended on it. e~0;
I think the closest I could ever get is 46,000 in the span of 3 days!
I pumped out a 19K one act though in one day. :] Eeyeh?? *shrug*

trystan830 11-27-2019 01:39 PM

right, my shortest NaNo was in 2016, with 50,366 words, which i finished on the 20th

my longest was my first one, in 2011. it was 65,020 words (finished on the 28th, but i got to the 50k mark on the 21st.)

i set my own internal challenges, and for most of the years i've done NaNo the dates line up: i try to have the word count by thanksgiving; and i try to have it finished by the 30th.

this year, with thanksgiving being as late as it can be (the 28th) my goal was to have the word count by the week before. (as it was i had the word count by the 16th and finished it on the 20th.

one of the goals of NaNo is to get you to write something every day. if you only write 1667 words each day, you'll have the word count by the 30th. i issued myself another challenge this year - consistently try to write MORE than the 1667 daily words. the only days (there were three of 'em) that i was less than 1667 words was after i already had the word count.

i'm a dork, i do a lot of playing with spreadsheets for these numbers. ;)

trystan830 11-02-2020 12:50 PM

*revives thread*

i wrote 2075 words on Day 1!

anyone else here this year?

i'd put my word count in my sig, but i'd have to take something out! XD

Tohopekaliga 11-02-2020 01:10 PM

NaNoWriMo is always one of those things that I think, "Oh, that would be fun," but then arrive at exactly zero good ideas...and so I just don't.

Good start, though! :D You can do it!

trystan830 11-02-2020 01:18 PM

thanks Toho!

but it IS fun. and i have like 1 kinda idea. plot crumbs, if you will. and only the year i finished one i'd already started was the only year i didn't write more than 50,000 words XD

Kaderin Triste 11-02-2020 03:13 PM

I'm kinda the same as Toho. I like the idea of NaNo, but am not so good at actually participating.

Plus I usually end up working too much plus having craft projects with deadlines that take up my free time.

But am 100% here to cheer on participants.

trystan830 11-02-2020 03:25 PM

yaay for cheerleaders!

i'm up to 3080 words!

Kaderin Triste 11-02-2020 03:41 PM

That's pretty good so far!

Lol *dresses Derpy up in a little cheerleader putfit with pompoms*

trystan830 11-02-2020 06:19 PM

all right, i moved something out of my sig, so now i have my link and word count progress! :)
