thanks, Zen :)

Every year I want to do this and every year I can never think of anything worthy of an entire novel. This year will be much the same because I just don't have the time as I'm still a graduate student. But next year, I hope to!

Death by Mirrors 11-02-2018 06:16 AM

You should just try one year even though you don't have anything worthy of an entire novel. Sometimes the story unfolds while you're writing it. And if nothing else, you can combine several short stories with an overall theme. (Not having time is a whole other issue of course.)

Coda, I hope you get well soon!

ZenKitty 11-02-2018 10:20 AM

There have been a lot of times when I've used NaNo as a way to practice some aspect of writing. Usually when I'm stuck on my novel, I'll work on something like dialogue or better descriptions. It might be totally unrelated to the story, and in that case I throw it at the end of my document with an empty page in between. It's still writing and still helpful and you can still count your words.

trystan830 11-02-2018 04:20 PM

as i told someone on another forum, there's always Camp NaNo, in April and July, and i believe you can set your own word count goals for the camps. =)

Coda 11-02-2018 08:49 PM

Yay, released an update to my story!

I guess I need to go synchronize the Trisphee mirror with the Sufficient Velocity thread.

trystan830 11-02-2018 09:07 PM

yaay coda!

ZenKitty 11-02-2018 09:16 PM

Congrats, Coda!

Death by Mirrors 11-03-2018 04:54 AM

Congrats!

And yes you can set your own goal for camp. I think the lowest is around 50 words or so, at least ridiculously low. So even if you have no time whatsoever you could write the first paragraph of your story in your lunch break, or a haiku each time you wait for your computer to boot. This reply already has 65 words altogether.

trystan830 11-03-2018 08:55 PM

anyone know what happened to the NaNo widgets? it's not appearing in my sig anymore, and i tried to post it on another forum and got a broken image icon....

Death by Mirrors 11-04-2018 09:30 AM

Maybe just temporary bandwith problems or something. Right now I can see your widget in your sig just fine.

trystan830 11-04-2018 10:46 AM

yeah, maybe it was. I can see it now (I'm on my phone now, and it's the next day... lol

ZenKitty 11-04-2018 01:15 PM

I need someone to tell me to get off all of these forums/websites/Discord channels and start writing! LOL

Death by Mirrors 11-04-2018 06:39 PM

Get off all these websites!
And start writing.
NOW!!

Was able to get my butt in gear and wrote 2 Kish words yesterday and this morning. Yay!

trystan830 11-05-2018 12:57 PM

yaay!

ZenKitty 11-07-2018 08:35 AM

Must write. Must write! I have an hour to get some words in, but the festival is still going on. LOL

Perhaps I'll sign onto ChatNano and do some boxodoom word sprints with Timmy.

Happy writing everyone!

trystan830 11-07-2018 11:47 AM

heh, i love google.

i'm at 504 for this morning... but i'm on my personal laptop .... at work. i figure when i hear the boss coming, i'll gently put in on the floor. at least i'm not fighting with my 1 gb slow-pokey work computer....

ZenKitty 11-07-2018 09:01 PM

Makes good sense, Tris.

trystan830 11-07-2018 09:20 PM

yep, i think i got about 1100 words while i was at work.

i'm now up to 2,863 for today, and still going.

ZenKitty 11-07-2018 11:10 PM

Woo hoo! You go, Tris! Awesome!

trystan830 11-07-2018 11:30 PM

thanks! 3824 so far now, with a total of 16,855. but i think i'll be wrapping it up soon

Mekatra 11-07-2018 11:42 PM

That's a pretty impressive word count for a week.

ZenKitty 11-07-2018 11:47 PM

Whoo hoo!
I'm a little shy of 20K and wanted to cross that threshold, but too tired. :P

Like you, I'd like to hit the 50K on Thanksgiving weekend.

trystan830 11-08-2018 12:07 AM

thanks Mekatra!

yeah, i'm calling it a night at 3934 for the day and 16965 so far. i left some bread crumbs as to where i'm going

Mekatra 11-08-2018 12:15 AM

I hate when I pause for the night thinking that I've found a good stopping point and then I realize I made it too good of a rest stop and it is hard to get going again.

trystan830 11-08-2018 12:18 AM

that is ME!

ZenKitty 11-08-2018 01:44 PM

Been there, done that too. :P

Death by Mirrors 11-08-2018 08:20 PM

Same here.

Yeah, that's a tricky situation. Certainly had that happen more often than I'd like. haha

Glad to see you guys are having a great NaNoWriMo!

Coda 11-10-2018 08:46 PM

I haven't been able to keep up with writing because I've just been so TIRED. When I wake up, I'm tired. When I get home from work, I'm tired. I haven't been able to think creatively. What energy I do have has been going into my job.

x.x

I was really hoping this November would be a resurgence...

trystan830 11-10-2018 09:22 PM

that does NOT sound like fun, Coda :(

trystan830 11-11-2018 01:14 AM

so, three and change hours later, here's my busy day from today (saturday):

i had my nephew’s 2nd birthday party in the early afternoon. then i taught a crochet class in the late afternoon/early evening.

tomorrow (sunday) i’ll be out for the whole day - we’re going up to older daughter’s college for the childrens’ theatre show - older daughter designed the set! yaay!

as a result, this happened tonight - i wrote 2,715 words, which makes my total so far 25,185 - just over halfway!! (and i thought my story was moving too fast! LOL)

i’ve thought about writing more now (those words will go towards my sunday word count), but nah, it’s after midnight, and i have emails to quick catch up on and then off to bed. i’m feeling very accomplished today. =)

also i finally linked my NaNo - it's the Untitled link at top of my sig, labled as "currently writing" XD

ZenKitty 11-11-2018 06:53 PM

So sorry you're feeling so tired, Coda. I've been much more tired this year than usual during November, but I chalked it up to being the only ML for my region and having double the work.

Congrats on your word count, Trys! I'm a little over 31K and want to finish the month with at least 75K words. I'm on track for that.

trystan830 11-11-2018 10:39 PM

thanks Zen! your word count is awesome too!

Death by Mirrors 11-12-2018 05:30 AM

Pretty much dragging myself through the days by now, as far as writing goes. I do make the daily word count, but let's just not talk about the quality of my story. The plot went out of the window somewhere among the road, and I guess I'll win this month merely because I'm too stubborn to give up.

Hope you all have a bit more fun with your own NaNo novel. Crossing my fingers for you, Coda, to find some extra energy soon and/or be able to do other things you enjoy more.

trystan830 11-12-2018 01:58 PM

well that doesn't sound like much fun, death :(
