Involuntary Logouts

I'm not sure what causes it, but since I joined the site yesterday, I've been having a lot of trouble with the site randomly logging me out during an active session. It's happened about three times so far, the most recent being while I was editing my avatar. I'll just be going about my business and then suddenly the site will tell me I'm not logged in. I'm not logged in on any other computers so I don't know what's going on there.

Any tips on how to fix it/avoid it?

Question: When you log in, are you making sure the box that says "Remember Me" is checked/clicked? If not, I remember that there is an "inactivity" timeout. Coda could explain it in more detail.

When you log in, are you checking the "Remember me" box?

I think I clicked it the most recent time and I haven't been logged out since, which is good but it's only been a few minutes.

Though, why would there be an inactivity logout if I'm in the middle of doing something? My account is still sending data so I don't know why that would be considered inactive.

Editing the avatar doesn't actually count as "activity" in the coding, because it doesn't change/refresh the whole page. I think o3o;

You are staying on the same page which is all that it counts. Unless you refresh your page you log out, which even switching between item tabs doesn't do when you are playing with your avi.

My understanding is that is has to activity in the forums or messaging. Editing your avatar is not quite the same. Again, one of the coders could better explain it.

That makes sense I suppose. Next time, I'll just remember to click "remember me" because that seems to do the trick.

Coder here. They're right. Carry on. :P

Edit: For the record, this is on the list of things to fix, but it's nontrivial to address. "Remember Me" is currently the most reliable way to handle it.

Sounds good, it just worried me a little.
