Welcome toLawtan's Library
Shhh.....
http://i1163.photobucket.com/albums/...0Library_1.png

Okay, so I'm creating a club-library. Here, I'll post a (hopefully daily) look-up facts/sources (While writing summaries on them)...and maybe art and stories and poetry.

I will also stop by to hang out. There is a lovely Cafe with Gourmet Coffee (Or in my case, Hot Cocoa) as well as a Wonka factory of bread-like sweets. There is a fireplace with several sofas, and an overlook over the pretty scene above. Also, pets are allowed as long as they don't tear up the books.

"Fiction, A to Z, where all is possible! Where a boy's imagination can take roots, and grow to incredible heights! Where a boy's courage is the wind that moves him to discovery...and where your journey begins!"

Lawtan's Rules of Comedy:

1) Timing is key.
2) Someone (or an object treated as someone) has to temporarily "suffer." (By confusion, deception, slapstick, or what have you...making suffering non-temporary leads to harassment and/or tragedy)
3) Subject material by itself isn't funny...but people's (inter/re)actions with/to subject material are funny. (hence why the "A ___, a ____, and a ___ walk into a bar" can be bigoted and cruel, or incredibly hilarious due solely to the interactions/the punchline)
4) Jokes have to be made under relate-able scenarios. If the scenario is too far-fetched/tangential/hollow/cardboard to relate to, it will likely fail.
5) Repeated jokes only last so long, and without decent setup and variation, they will die rather quickly. :p-dead: (Note: in turn, comedy benefits by new twists to one's expectations - new surprises)

And...Open for Business! Feel free to suggest "books" (reference sites), correct poor site choices, read, or just sip coffee and Smoothies while listening to a mix of music, from New Age to Folk Rock to Viking Metal. Also, feel free to pet the animals (Some of whom are here to read, too O.O)

Espy 02-20-2014 12:37 AM

....BOOKS! -climbs a bookshelf and falls asleep-

Lawtan 02-20-2014 04:25 PM

Book #1 Added - the Book of Taliesin (Predictable for me)
It contains 56.5 poems covering a range of Arthurian characters, Taliesin (of course), battles, and prophecies of Great Britain.

*Shelving first book. Notices a sleeping fox on the top of the shelf. Puts a sheet over the fox and lets it sleep*

Lawtan 02-21-2014 01:54 PM

*Whistles* Adding more "Books"...and my Avi is now the Librarian.
*Cafe plays Fortunate Son*

Fauxreal 02-22-2014 05:17 PM

*walks in dressed as a sexy librarian*

Lawtan 02-22-2014 05:18 PM

*Hugs Faux* Welcome to the Library. :-)

Fauxreal 02-22-2014 05:26 PM

Why hello there! I've been looking for a good place to turn over a new leaf! ;)

Lawtan 02-22-2014 05:35 PM

Well then welcome! There's a Jukebox Coffee-Cafe over there, a fireplace over there...

Fauxreal 02-22-2014 05:39 PM

Aw - I need to learn how to tell jokes - New Leaf - book are made of leaves. :)

Oh... coffee - do you have a good decafe?!

Lawtan 02-22-2014 05:46 PM

Yes. Yes we do.
*Gives a loose leaf*

Fauxreal 02-22-2014 05:52 PM

HAHA!

Okay - a large mocha decaf. <3 And Are we allowed to take our beverages to the books? I wanted to parooze the humor section.

Espy 02-22-2014 05:55 PM

Hm. You should add a copy of Egil's Saga to the library.

Lawtan 02-22-2014 05:55 PM

I don't know how much we have in that section, yet, but feel free!
*prays for no one to get a bloody nose while reading books*
>.> Happened many times in my youth.

Fauxreal 02-22-2014 06:00 PM

Your nose bleeds while you are reading...

What the heck are you reading?!

Lawtan 02-22-2014 06:07 PM

:p-laugh:
Not like that. Used to have very bad sinus infections (hyperimmune system + allergy to dander/dust/pollen + living on a place called "Animal Home")
When I'd take something to dry my nose out, it would often break a blood vessel.

Not as bad as it used to be.

@Espy: added. :-)

Fauxreal 02-22-2014 07:48 PM

I know - I was just joking with you Law-baby.

My boy gets nose bleeds all the time! I told him, he needs to eat more dark leafy greens for vitamin K.

Dawn 02-22-2014 08:21 PM

-glances through books-

Well, I have to see if I can find some for the website section. :3

Lawtan 02-22-2014 09:01 PM

You should *nod-nods*

Kilala Mikal 02-22-2014 09:04 PM

*peeks in quietly and wanders between the shelves* Gyah. I love libraries! *squeeface*

Fauxreal 02-22-2014 09:46 PM

*peeks over to Kilalal* *whispers* HI!

Kilala Mikal 02-22-2014 10:42 PM

*waves and whispers back* HI! (Dude, what eyes are those?? o.o)

Fauxreal 02-23-2014 02:28 AM

This chicklett is wearing - Cat eyes! <3 Pretty wild huh?!

Lawtan 02-23-2014 04:11 AM

*Peeks in*
Such Pretty Eyes...
*Picks a book and finds a sofa by the fireplace. Falls asleep reading.*

Areishia 02-23-2014 04:23 AM

-Slightly open the door and peaks inside before going in- Hello? Is anyone here?

Chloe 02-23-2014 08:51 AM

I'll see what I find during my search to understand maps and hashmaps.

I might have good sources already saved through.

Lawtan 02-23-2014 01:03 PM

Welcome to the Library, Areishia, Chloe. :-)

Lawtan 02-23-2014 04:44 PM

Well, let's see. The shipment on Gaulic and Norse works has come in...What's this? Romance of the Rose? Really? Old French "wooing/romance" poetry. Huh. *Shelves in general Medieval Culture*

*Cafe plays Revolution

Sadrain 02-23-2014 05:53 PM

This is... amazingly interesting place. I just pinpointed what Trisphee was lacking - a good, versatile library. Now we're on the path to remedy that. Thank you!

Lawtan 02-23-2014 08:27 PM

Maybe...
I made this to help organize, refine, and expand my knowledge, and am open to sharing it. Also, a library...fits - like Alpha's Bunker or Espy's Speakeasy.

Espy 02-23-2014 08:56 PM

Hm....Gawain and the Green Knight, Canterbury Tales, Beowulf...

You also need a lot more Shakespeare.

Lawtan 02-23-2014 09:19 PM

...and Gilgamesh, Ba'al Hadad, Odyssey, Iliad, Aeneid, the Greek plays, etc.

>.> Shakespeare isn't as great to me, as most make him out to be. <.<
(I'll add his stuff eventually, and rhyming will be the end of me.)

I liked Midsummer's Night Dream, Macbeth, Hamlet, and a Comedy of Errors. I hated Othello.

Gallagher 02-23-2014 09:21 PM

Alright, I have some for you. Most of my references are for roleplaying purposes, but still.

DID SOMEONE SAY SHAKESPEARE? William Shakespeare including facts about his life, his influence, and full copies of his works (plays, sonnets, you name it).

Super fun site on speaking British.

Heraldry site with tons of meanings for everything, because they actually design coats of arms and things. Brilliant as a quick guide.

Tree symbolism site, another fun one, has some quizzes and an actual guide for a good number of trees.

Medieval Medicine, most specifically, expanding on common thoughts of their practices and attitudes.

Simple one on Aura colors, or if not your thing, Psychology of colors. Includes a quick and dirty page on the differences in color meanings between cultures.

My personal go-to page when I need to brush up on tetragametic chimerism.

Astrology. Suggested you have some basis knowledge before getting a chart done.

Information on Medieval names for tons of different cultures.

Handy survival skills album for those of us that were never scouts or camping people.

Fauxreal 02-23-2014 09:54 PM

Damn Gall, did you leave some of the internet still on the internet!?

Gallagher 02-23-2014 09:59 PM

Oh yes. That was about half of my references.

Fauxreal 02-23-2014 10:06 PM

Lolz. I'm just here for the conversation and coffee and books... :D

Lawtan 02-23-2014 10:09 PM

*Is looking through Galla's links* Some of these may fall under "odds and ends"...
...tree quiz...Birch, Willow, and Hawthorn...Innocent, Sad, Feminine, Hopeful? How am I feminine? (Not a bad thing, but prefers neutrality)
Yay! I may actually be able to use the Medieval Medicine thing for my Permaculture class!
...I use Astro for Astrology charts, and am taking Astronomy in the hopes of learning the basics of Star mapping.

...I have 24 sites up right now...O____O

Fauxreal 02-23-2014 10:15 PM
