2023 Reading Challenge
hello again!!!
i set myself a reading challenge every year, which is to read more books than the previous year. 2017 was the first year i did this on Trisphee, (i had a great time! thanks Moonshadow!) and i've been hosting this since 2018. it's great fun ... so here we are again! so, (snagging from previous threads), set a challenge for yourself: read 50 books, read only the books you have at home that you haven't read yet, read a specific genre, read only non-fiction books... whatever you choose. Your first post should contain your challenge, and use a spoiler to indicate how you are progressing in meeting that challenge. i use a spoiler for my booklist. =) And while we're reading, please feel free to chat about books, your day, anything! if you ever have any questions, go ahead and post it. the only silly question is the one you don't ask. :D https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/03...g?v=1411837338 |

reserved... just 'cause it's good to have another post reserved. as soon as i don't reserve one, i'll need it for something.... right, Murphy? XD
(and as long as i keep reserving a post that i don't need, i won't need it. right?) |

I would like to join and take the challenge!
My goal is... |
yaay! welcome to the challenge. i'd like to think it's fun. and we can chat in here about whatever! i'm very good at getting so far off topic.... XD
|
Fun and encouraging. I'm the type that needs goals to achieve or things to check off a list you know?
|
yeah, i get that.
i've just started my first book for the year - The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Mandanna. one of the things i do is flip to the back to see how many chapters the book is. once i was there, i caught the beginning of the author's note/afterward. i didn't really read it, because sometimes they talk about the book. but i did see the first line, which was something along the lines of it was written during the pandemic, and they wanted to write something fun. and while I'm only a few chapters in, it looks like it'll be a fun story to read! :D |
Went to a 12th night party at a local book store with a couple coworkers. They had some free advance copies they were giving away. I took 3.
Lol |
oh very cool!
what books did you get? |
Update: Make that 4 books.
I got: The Fever by Alma Katsu How High We Go In the Dark by Seqoia Nagamatsu (which I read last year so I debated snagging, but it was a really good book) The Reluctant Fundamentalist by Mohsin Hamid The Wrong Kind of Weird by James Ramos (potential romance, which I'm not the biggest fan of, but the incredibly vague back of book description lured me in) |
well they sound interesting....
|
Ah, that should be The Fervor, not The Fever. Thanks, dumb phone. Lol
|
gotta love auto-correct, eh?
