Velcro question
For those crafty out there. Or crafty moms maybe. I have been toying with the idea of a plushie that I wanted to add Velcro to. I have some, from a long abandoned product, but the back states that fabric and vinyl are not recommended. It is stick on Velcro, if that means anything.
I would just rather not use the silver snap on buttons. It would be a mostly black plushie and the black Velcro would be kind of hidden, so it would work so well. Not art or writing, but nowhere else I think it can go. |
We have a defunct Crafting Clubhouse, but can you not sew the velcro? Admittedly, the sticky stuff is less of a good thing in that case...
...But I remember having a good deal of trouble trying to get that to work on a prototype/mockup of a solar charging phone carrier I worked on in High School. |
Thanks, Lawtan, I looked for a craft area and didn't find one.
I just have the sticky stuff, I don't really live near a craft store. I can check Walmart for the sew on type, but I'm not sure if they have it. |
You can sew on the sticky type.
Although, you may want to try to get the sticky stuff off first, so that it doesn't goop out eventually. |
Yeah goop would be really unappealing and very noticeable on black. Thank you :)

use a little cornstarch or talcum powder to desticky the back then use a strong needle and coat thread ^^ it will work just fine<3 i abuse my crafty items rather a lot, hahaha

I had a little arm-hugging gorilla stuffie that came with a nightshirt I bought. The velcro was sewed on. I'd suggest being as thorough as you can if you expect it to get a lot of use. My gorilla (and many other Velcro fabric things I've seen) that are stitched just around the edge will eventually pull off, especially if it's just one piece of thread that can just get pulled out.

Thanks everyone, especially now that I know I won't have to buy non sticky Velcro! I'll have to find some durable thread, I don't know how much use it would get, but I don't want to be constantly repairing.

Let us know how it works out! I would be really interested in velcro-ing a bunch of my stuffed animals onto my walls or ceiling even....
|
I certainly will! That's a pretty interesting idea, I've wanted to hang a couple of dolls with fishing wire.
|
I've got a plushie shinx hanging from my ceiling.
Well, actually, I have a lego space ship hanging from my ceiling with a plushie shinx standing on it. :P I used fishing line to do that. |
That sounds really cute!

That's so awesome! I love it!
