Post format

I wanted to know if there was a place to put our graphic posts without needed to do them each time.
Something like the signature, but for post.
I guess you know what I am talking about.

I just don't want to to them each time I post and I have never been on a forum that does that so I don't know where to look if there is.

Thanks in advance (:.

Not yet. It's under discussion.

Okay thanks. I am guessing it will be said in an announcement or something. I'll wait then.
:)

-=What you're allergic to cats?...=-

Yeah, I suggested that in my suggestion thread when I joined... Reference: Post Format Suggestion... You can see the suggestion in that link and the staffs answer... I hope they will push through with it... I have my post format copied and pasted manually everytime I post... I saved it in a word doc so that I could just copy and paste it... It would do for now I guess...

Well, having post formats as a setting like that has additional advantages -- we can enforce the rules on them in code, for instance, and people who don't want to see them (like me!) can simply turn them off so that they only get the actual post content. So it's definitely something we're GOING to do, but there's a lot of more important things (like the forum layout) that need done first.

That's awesome if people who don't want to see post formats don't have to. I know many huge, obnoxious post formats bothered me so much. >.>;

Sadrain 09-03-2010 03:47 PM

Omg, that would be awesome. XD
ould it be like signature tab, where you enter what you want to be displayed and such?
-doesn't use post formats 'cause copypasting's too boring XD-

Yes indeed, what annoys me most about them is text cause there's no way to remove them at all. :/

See, I have to wonder a bit about this. If the post format is like a signature, how will people format things like shops, art galleries, etc.

Would turning it off for that post be allowed?

Would turning it back on mess up previous posts in a way similar to how a new signature replaces all old signatures of previous posts?

Would people still see formatted posts as long as the format is typed into the text entry field?

DarkWolfrin 09-03-2010 04:51 PM

Johnny-
Well When you post you can take off your sig for that post. When you post anew then you can click on the sig to put it back for that post.

So it might be something similar?

As for the format... I don't like something huge either.
Just at least to keep for example, the color and other things up.

There's a "show your signature" checkbox for posts, why not a "use text format" that could be unchecked when formatting shops and stuff? as for the other issues, I'm not sure.

Silverbleed 09-03-2010 04:58 PM

Or you could do something similar like Tektek's option? Like, you type whatever you like and are able to choose between several post formats you made (2 or 3) or nothing at all, before posting?

Coda 09-04-2010 10:03 AM

I was already thinking about multiple post formats, primarily so people have no excuse for putting post formatting directly into posts (where I can't turn them off). Right now this is all still in the discussion stage, but I appreciate the suggestions and feedback.
