Pagans of Trisphee

As it says on the tin. Mostly curious as to who here worships old gods.

If religious discussions aren't permitted (couldn't find anything in the rules against, at least where I looked), then I apologize profusely and the mods can delete this thread immediately.

If there isn't a problem with it, then I'd love to know about peoples' personal beliefs. For example, I see myself as an Eclectic Pagan/Witch, seeing the validity in most, if not all, religions, looking for the kernels of truth. I've apparently picked up bits of crystal witchcraft, green/herbal witchcraft, as well as some more recent cyber witchcraft. My pantheon is... mixed, to say the least.

Anyway, let's light some candles and burn some incense and get this f**kin' circle started! :p-cool:

I left my carved wand at home, and my current campus has like. Zero appropriate trees.

(We have another Pagan Inn hangout, but that’s been inactive for a while.)

EverAshwood 01-23-2018 04:47 PM

I'm sorry to hear that :c What kind of wood might you be looking for?

(wait, here on Trisphee? I did a search for "witch" and "Pagan", but I didn't find anything...)

We've a Pagan Inn here, but don't let that discourage you from chatting in another pagan-themed hangout -- it's your hangout.

I'm pretty sure my first wand was red oak. I have a branch that I haven't carved yet, that was supposed to be my second. I'm assuming it's also red oak, but the bark's different. Perhaps the first one just came from a tree with less bark, since they both match photos online.

Doesn't seem to have been active in a while :/

That's cool, did red oak have some properties that attracted you?

Espy 01-25-2018 12:34 PM

It was just accessible, and it...felt right? Hrm...

my first wand came from a rose bush or some other type of thorn-producing plant... It was a gift. It mostly sits unused with some of the rest of my altar supplies. I haven't found one that feels right yet, and I don't want to use anything from when mom gets trim-happy with our trees (We have a sweet gum and ash tree in our front yard, a maple, and an ash in the back yard.) and it hasn't been windy enough to knock any down that I've been able to see...

Espy 01-25-2018 09:09 PM

I don't like using branches that didn't fall of their own accord. Makes me feel uncomfortable. Same will go once I get my hands on a woodburning tool for runes.

I don't have much in terms of witchcraft supplies, and have never used my wand. For me, it's more a suspension of disbelief, than actually believing in things. Depression taught me it wouldn't kill me to be more optimistic once in a while.

I'd rather use windfallen branches, because then they're not stolen from the tree. I have an athame, an incense holder (couple of those, actually. stick incense), and a round box that has the Green Man depicted on the surface of the lid, and leaves and greenery on the outside. I also have a hand bell that I got because I liked how it sounds.

Espy 01-26-2018 12:11 AM

I've never been able to find a good athame. I'd much rather whittle a wand with one, because a plain woodcarving knife doesn't feel right.

...I have weird instincts about inanimate objects and their not feeling "right".

Can't really stand incense, so. I sometimes scribble sigils on post-it notes and stick them to the wall.

To each, their own. imnsho, there's no "wrong" way or "right" way to be Pagan.

EverAshwood 01-31-2018 02:37 PM

I don't really have much by way of witchy supplies either, although my ability to communicate with trees makes it easy to ask permission. Most of the trees in my area are sick though, so they usually say no (the only one that said yes, their branches were too high...)

I think I ended up buying a wand from someone though. Beautiful thing, but I've never used it...

I don't really use wands...unless my staff counts...I have used that in ceremonies...

UTK has a pagan group I hope to join :)

I would love to learn more about it, it's always fascinated me. :3

(One of the reasons I like my wand is, even if I don’t do spellwork and rituals, just holding it makes me feel powerful, and that instills confidence.)
