Death in the family...

So we've not long got home from my partners parents place. We got a phone call just as my partner got home from work from his mum, breaking the news that his dad has died. There was no sign or inclination that this was likely to happen and we don't know the cause of death yet, but we suspect it was possibly a heart attack or stroke. My partner seems to be coping fairly well, but I know he often bottles things up. I'm not sure if there is anything I can really do for him other than be here for him and try to take care of him and the little one...

*hugs*
I almost wish it had been that quick for my cousin Donald this past summer, he was in the hospital for close to two months with fluid building in his lungs and it was just heartbreaking. Poor Donald, he had Downs syndrome so it was difficult for him to understand what was happening to him. Such a sweet boy -- I say boy, he was in his early forties.

*hugs Witchy* It's always hard losing people you are close to...

I lost my son at the end of July 2007... He had a heart defect known as hypo-plastic left heart syndrome. It's where only half of the heart forms. He was only four months and thirteen days old...

Rest in peace to all who have passed, and condolences to those who have lost.
