Favorite Soundtracks?

Music can be an important part of basically any game - it sets up atmosphere, gives energy to times of hype, or can just plain sound AMAZING.

What are some of your favorite game soundtracks? Ranging from old to new. :)

A personal favorite of mine is Mega Man 2, all the way back from the NES era.

And then the City Escape remix from the recent Sonic Generations game -

(After playing the original Sonic Adventure 2 in middle school this remix BLEW MY MIND)

How about you guys? c:
Ragnarok Online also had a great OST, but I forgot the names of all of the songs I really liked. 8(

Oh my god this except from Adventure 2 Battle
I love this song so freaking much

I haven't played maplestory in ages but the one soundtrack I can always remember is Elinia

I'm sure there's a lot more floating around in the back of my mind but these two are what I thought of right away

Hmm got the soundtracks for kingdom hearts
I really like game music though as victory music for FF7 as my ringtone
and music from .hack//G.U. for my text message ring
my phone uses midi files for that so couldn't have songs with words in it's oddness along with having different ringtones driving a friend of mine crazy so only uses those two so they won't be horribly startled

hmm I'd have to say like sonic songs as well hmm nearly any game I have I like almost all of the music on it -_- list is long
smiles that remix is nice =)
smiles megaman music is nice too, I have played newer games never got to play megaman 2 but got some of the later ones

Capcom is seriously great at music. I love everything they did for the classic-styled Mega Man titles, even 9 and 10, considering those are 20 years newer. XD

Midi files are also really cool. I used to have a small collection of them, actually.

Hero - That song you linked is exactly why the Sonic Generations song blew my mind so much. Growing up with that song and getting that remix was just mindblowing. Also FINALLY GETTING A GOOD SONIC GAME.... <3

Kotomi 05-27-2012 02:53 AM

I lost most of my midi collection back when my dad has his old computer and it crashed but I was glad to get them again later
I wish there was an easier way to convert files it seems that so many can only convert one way or only with some programs not all

oldest excluding this remake game thing for the gamecube, the farthest back of megaman games s battle network 3 white
I had learned how to play some of those on the piano at one time, which was neat
hmm also one on playstation originally borrowed it from a friend once
wonders how many different megamans there are... hmm along with different sonics since he has changed his attitude some along with becoming thin, will have to look that up sometime

Yeah, sometimes encoding audio is ridiculous. I was just trying to explain how you could probably convert midi to mp3 and realized if you were lucky it might be three programs. xD;; Ridiculous.

I wanna say Mega Man games are nearing 100, if you count every spinoff, every edition of the Battle Networks and whatnot, and the random weird Japanese-only ones. It's crazy. I love the music in like all of them, too. ;w; Except Mega Man 8. Not a huge fan of that one.

☁☂ Tales of series. I love all their music and of course
Eternal Sonata. That game has a outstanding soundtrack.

FFF yesss
I really want Sonic Generations but I have nothing to play it on ;~;

Addy 06-03-2012 06:24 PM

Hero - Your computer won't run it? :( It's available on Steam.

Saiyouri - I have heard good things about Eternal Sonata. A game so heavily inspired by music should definitely have good music, too. :3

☁☂ Ya it does. All Chopin pieces. Including his one piece
that he never wanted anyone to ever hear. It was
to be tossed on his deathbed by his friend but his
friend couldn't go through with it so he let everyone
hear it. And now it's my favorite piece of all time.

Oh, wow. That's kind of strange, and I'll feel a twinge of guilt when I inevitably hear it (as I have been meaning to play that game for a while), but perhaps it's a good thing that people did hear it, too, since it's apparently so good. :3

☁☂ It's called Fantasia Impromtu. It is one of his dance pieces he composed
for a dance that was being done during that time.
He hated writing those pieces and that was one of
them that he never had performed for the dance so
he kept it a secret all those years. And since it
was not his normal typical piece he wrote he never
wanted people to hear it at all. But it is absoultely
gorgeous to me. I love it soooo much. I heard it
and fell in love with the piece. He is now my one
favorite artist that I am obsessed with. I even want
to find books about him to read but those are hard
to find because most written was bad about him..
Like all not true with things mispoken about his life.
Even the one his lover wrote about him wasn't based
on all fact. So those are hard to find. I even wanted
to get his book of love letters to her, but I still
have to choose if I want to read them because to me
that is extremely personal. And I would feel so odd
reading it. Even though I read Nikki Sixx's diary lol.

I have a mac :\

Addy 06-04-2012 12:02 AM

... RIGHT, I forget that's an issue. I'm also using a Mac right now, but I have Bootcamp so I just boot into Windows. I often forget that not everybody can do that. :C

Hero 06-04-2012 12:07 AM

I would do that but I can't get my hands on a disc that works :c

Addy 06-07-2012 03:23 PM

Boooooo, lame. I know the feeling though. I only have Bootcamp because it's a university owned laptop and they provide all that stuff for us.

Also, omg. I can't believe I forgot Bastion and that glorious beautiful soundtrack.
