Anyone still play your older game systems?
I keep seeing myself go back to my PS2 lol.
I do have a Ps3.. But I dunno lol. I just cant get enough of the Ps2. The games are way better imo.. Anyone else agree? |
I never bothered to get a PS3, too expensive and I enjoy the games on the PS2 a lot more. I have yet to see a title on the PS3 that has made me want to buy the system.
I still play my PS2 and Gameboy Advance. >u< ....mainly because it costs too much to upgrade. XD
PS2 hardly feels old to me. I still have an N64. My sister has it on loan though, since I hardly play it anymore. Was pondering digging out my PS2 to play tonight. I'm getting annoyed that some of the games I want, like Champions of Norath and the sequel are getting really hard to find. I know EB games is getting rid of all their PS2 stuff.
I occasionally go back to the Gamecube to play stuff. I would play PS2 games also but that's a pain to move the systems around, it's actually easier to play PS1 since the PS3 is backwards compatible with them...and I would sometimes probably. I don't have a problem with "lesser graphics" as long as the game is fun.
I still own my Sega Genesis (megadrive in Europe) and play that regularly. it's still my favourite console by far. I own a Ps3, wii and a few of the modern handhelds but none of them come close.
We gave our Sega and SNES to a friend of ours. They were working fine, it wasn't too long ago. I doubt I'll get anything other than what I already have for some time. I'm still looking for PS2 games and will probably dig up some PS1 games too. My sister gave me a copy of FFIX for christmas and a PS1 memory card so it will play. If anything, I might get a 3DS sometime in the far future when I actually have money. New computer would come before a new console. ;)
I need to upgrade my PC before I think about buying any kind of console as well. I use my PC for about 90% of my gaming anyway. Consoles probably aren't worth the money to me.
still have my Psx, Ps1 and Ps2 lying around somewhere. |
I end up playing my Ps2 when I get bored, sometimes my original Playstation. I'd play all of my other consoles if I could find them or if my parents hadn't gotten rid of them. >A<
Anyone have any idea on how to hook a Ps1 up to a full HD TV? o.O
I agree ^^ I play loads of PSX games on my PS2. The gaming generation was much better than it is now. Everyone just tries to make as much money as possible without giving two shits about the quality of their games. Exhibit A: Square Enix.

I love old school playstation graphics more so than the newer graphics in games. Like I want to reget some of the older Tales games just to look at the graphics again. Of course the games were fun as heck hehe. •.¸¸.•´¯`•.¸¸.¤ ⊹⊱⋛⋌⋚⊰⊹ ∰ ⊹⊱⋛⋌⋚⊰⊹ ¤.¸¸.•´¯`•.¸¸.• |
I dont own a ps3... i have an xbox 360...
But to the topic of the thread yes i play my PS2 and Gamecube constantly for my favorite games that arent on other consoles... like Phantasy star online, kingdom hearts, and the previous ratchet and clank games (dont like the newer ones) |
Man, I feel old seeing somebody referring to a PS2 as an "older" game system... :'D
I get what you mean, but oh wow, that was weird at first! I still regularly play NES/SNES games, whenever I can at least. Though I don't have a working NES anymore and my SNES is technically my mom's... I have to rely on emulators or game collection discs. |
I still have my Game Boy Pocket and a Game Gear tucked away somewhere. I don't particularly miss the latter.
@Ducky, do you only have HDMI ports? I think most HD TVs have a component input too, and you can use a PS3 cable to hook up a PS1 also.
@Addy, With the advances I've seen, just about everything before the current generation seems "old" but I've been gaming since Commodore 64 so...don't feel that old ;) |
I go on the PS2 a hell of a lot more than the PS3. xD
The oldest console I still use every now and then is the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis, but I can't use it on my new TV, which sucks majorly. I still use the K Fusion emulator for some Mega Drive games I don't own, though. |
I play my older games on my newer, backwards-compatible systems. XD I play my Pokemon Leafgreen on my DS, I play my Pokemon Red on my GBA, and I play all of Semi's emulators of ridiculously old games on the PC. I have to start Earthbound all over because it was on his roommate's computer. ;A;
i disapprove of gamestop getting rid of GBA games bc now i have to order the ones i want to play on the internet... and there can be fake ones
x.x I wish i hadn't gotten rid of my GBA systems.. i miss playing pokemon silver, yellow, and red. XP even giving my DS lite to my niece recently, i'm beginning to regret. XD Like as SOON as i gave it to her, i got the sudden urge to play my old GBA games that don't work in the 3DS XP
I still play my Sega Master System and my Sega Genesis...
oh i'm so jealous. DX I've never gotten to play on a sega. x.o; playstation barely.. i have a ps2 and gamecube... i guess those can be considered old as well. xD for the most part, though all i play on is my 3DS o3o;;
I play the Wii I got as a present quite a lot, but the newest not handheld console I bought myself is a PS2 C : I really like the games, and they're so cheap now. I love my N64 too <3 Don't play it much, though
As a general question, why would people not play their old systems?
pssst poe they have old gba systems on ebay... and the games too but be careful on the games(some can be fake)
I got myself a GBA SP from ebay for $60 used and it looks brand new. i found pokemon ruby, sapphire, leaf green, emerald, fire red(for kali i still need to get one for myself) |
I still play my SNES from time to time or my N64. Don't get me started on Gamestop. I don't like a lot of their policies. ._.; |
I still have my PS, PS2, DS Light, and my PSP, I also still have my SNES. and Sega, and 64. I am to poor to get anything else like P3 or a Vita. I am the manry-est of men! |
This thread keeps reminding me I should buy a Dreamcast and GBA one of these days. A friend of mine borrowed my GBA and never gave it back. I don't even know where she lives anymore..
I need to pick my PS2 from my mom's place and then I want to get an NES (8-bit) with some games...
My dad has an atari system with a whole bin of games from when it was in the dumpster that some ghetto homeless people threw it out |
I would play my GBA but it's gone missing :c
I play my PS2 all the time since I don't think I'll ever bother getting a PS3 or any type of XBox I had a PS1 for the longest time but that went to my younger cousins |
I use to play a lot of my old PS2 RPG games when I had my backwards PS3 console, but once I gave it to my brother and bought a slim, I haven't gone back. The last time I played a old gen console was when I turn on my Gamecube system, and that was to play the wonderful Ogre Battle 64.
yep still play on the old systems, only one I haven't played on in ages is the Playstation 1 since those games can be played on the PS2
actually even played the old N64 a few months ago before my sister misplaced the games while cleaning in the odd way she cleans... wonders where they are... maybe in a box hidden somewhere... |
Quote:
OMG EARTHBOUND when i was with my ex a year ago i use to play that all the time. i miss his game, but not him. x) i need to buy a copy for myself really bad. |
The other day my friends and I had a bunch of fun with NES ROMs - we ended up playing dozens of really bad old games and it was glorious. I really think we picked out random games based on titles for ten hours. Just laughing at the bullshit and unplayability of some of them.
PS2 is just pure win. I don't care what anyone says. Yes, I'd love to see what the PS3 games are like (I'm poor. XD I don't have a PS3 yet.), but I will always be partial to my PS2. I also play Super Nintendo games like it's my job. XD Donkey Kong Country for the win.
keep the ps2 dont trade it in... ps3 doesnt work with ps2 games sadly... otherwise if it did i would buy it...
Well I heard that it depends on the PS3 you get.
yeah only the first gen ps3 are backwards compatable with ps2 games... (you can tell when it has 4 usb ports in the front of it...) anything after is no good
I just came back from my friends house and we played on her N64 for hours
Love the classics We were looking for her sega genesis but we couldn't find it :c |
This thread is forever reminding me that I need to buy a Dreamcast. :C
