Future of Trisphee?

.

Yes, I am going to be that person that's going to say it...

Do we have any plans for Trisphee since Glitch is not around anymore? </3 She's basically the main person who kept this site going with all the new items. I know that you guys don't plan to close the site, but it's kinda sad to see nothing going on around here.

I also have an idea, but I don't know if it's going to work since we don't have that many active users anymore. We can have like project campaigns where members of the site can donate toward that project, it will take some time, but it's better than nothing. Each certain amount of donation they contribute, they will get a special past item capsule based on rarity/year...this will help bring back some more old items into circulation.

Example:

$2.00 = 19/20
$3.00 = 2018
$4.00 = 2017
$5.00 = 2016
$6.00 = 2015
$7.00 = 2014
$8.00 = 2013

$100 = All Past Event Items
$200 = All Past Seasonal Items

and so on...

Since we don't have much going on on the site, this will allow our loyal members to play around with more items while we wait for new things and features. I don't think it will cause any inflation.

Maybe track down a pixelist from menewsha or something since that site is basically on the verge of shutdown maybe they need a job and could help here ?

That's a good idea and I also updated my first post <3

Tohopekaliga 10-08-2020 10:06 PM

We're working on some things for future items, although I don't have a definitive answer on that front yet.

Bringing back old items is still in the cards, and we've been planning on doing that anyway for a long time. Last year we had an extra shop open after Thanksgiving that was all old donation items, and we'll most likely do that again, but the intent is to have something like that on a permanent basis, with a rotating stock.

KittyBeary 10-08-2020 11:18 PM

If I was even remotely good at pixel art, I'd volunteer to step in. :C

But I think rotating older items in a shop is a great idea. ^^

Stabbsworth 10-09-2020 01:55 PM

i might be available for a pixel artist job, but i'm not exactly great at pixel art and would work better as a designer.

plus i'd prefer to do volunteer work while i get my skills up to the required levels tbh.

Kaderin Triste 10-09-2020 02:30 PM

Was the post-Thanksgiving shop runes only? I genuinely can't remember but suspect it was because I couldn't get anything. :/

But if items can still be recolored....maybe even doing recolors of past event items could be something to consider for keeping events/activity going? If that's even possible. Idk, just a thought.

could have sworn i got Pillow Talk and... maybe Space Fleet? for aurum.

also, yeah, recolours of event stuff seems like a good idea.

Tohopekaliga 10-09-2020 03:54 PM

Pillow Talk and Space Fleet were both aurum items in the shop, yeah.

I will stay here FOREVER!!!!

Starlight Vivian 07-21-2021 12:43 AM

.o. i came back. but future. who knows

Neonriser 12-13-2021 10:36 PM

Guess we'll have to wait and see... I'm afraid it might end up having the same fate as Syndrone a couple years back, but if we want to keep this forum alive, then we gotta do something.

NikkoGallarado 12-15-2021 08:40 AM

I tend to check in from time to time, trying to find time in my busy workdays to come here, but then again I also took up streaming as well to fill in free time.

Congrats on being an artist.

Don't think I have the patience to try to pixel things anymore, not after having two years of training to do 3D models, lol. Also pretty sure most of the site would be C sharp or Java which I have had some experience in but not really languages I am comfortable with since most of my education was spent using Unity/C++ through wouldn't mind eventually taking courses to farther my c sharp/java skills in the future.

Hopefully the site will have a future, been trying to track down a few friends on here that I don't have on other sites but no idea if someone active may know where they are hanging out these days. Most of the sites I was on, have closed or money hungry, lol.

you'll probably have to ask coda about the coding-portion of the site. or toho.

Do we need any writers? I'm curious if I can help in some way.

we are not currently looking for writers, no, but we will be sure to announce it when we are ^^

Juneberry 04-05-2022 05:29 AM

Is there some other way I can be helpful then? :D

Gallagher 04-05-2022 05:57 AM

well, right now we're trying to get our art team back up and running, and have added a couple new pixelists to the team to try and facilitate that! currently we're in a bit of an adjustment period, but in the next few months we should get an idea of where our art and event teams stand, and if we need more people on board to help. if you'd like to go ahead and submit a resume with our administrators for a pixelist/designer/writing role, we would be happy to save it to consider once we know where we're at. ^^ my inbox is always open.

as it is, being as patient with us as our users have been is huge already! all activity is good activity, no question.

Two questions: I'm blind (not literally, well, sort of, as I only have one working eye right now, but...) so I don't know where the form is. I'll keep looking, but figured I'd ask directly where it is while doing that.

Question two: What does a designer do exactly? *wondering if she can fill multiple roles*

EDIT:
Third question actually. You mentioned activity is good. But... What counts as a dead thread not to post in? Or is it free reign for now?

about your third point, admins don't really mind necroposting on here since it gets quiet at times, but new posts in old threads may be subjected to higher scrutiny. this is based off of a cursory glance at the rules, and this is as far as i can remember.

second point, designers design items. iirc Den is an item designer for this site. i'm an item designer for another one.

here's the job listings post: https://www.trisphee.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21205

Two new questions!
1. What's the difference between an item designer and a pixel artist?
2. What is necroposting exactly?

Edit: ANOTHER NEW QUESTION SORRY
The link you gave me doesn't have the application, it just tells me where to send it. :c

iirc you gotta inquire about applying first in the DM. i tried to apply when i was sixteen at one point, then finally got around to it around... at least a few weeks ago? my internal clock is a bit fucked.

necroposting is when people post in old threads. i swear there was an explanation of what necroposting was on the rules thread, but maybe i'm misremembering.

i'm reasonably certain gallagher would know the difference a bit better than i do. and be able to answer your questions better.

Juneberry 04-05-2022 09:30 AM

It could be it was explained and I just forgot. I read the rules a few days ago, but my memory can be kind of trash sometimes, especially with new vocabulary terms, at least for a while.

I'll go send that PM then! I can ask the difference while I'm asking for a form to fill out. :)

it's a pretty contested thing across forum sites. admins here are relatively lax.

iirc voltra requires that you don't post in threads that are over 3 months old, pantheon online... i've forgotten about that one, i think there might be a moratorium on necroposting until activity picks up again.

Juneberry 04-05-2022 09:34 AM

I will necropost as I feel necessary then. As in I will not hold back if a thread interests me even if it's old. :D Thank you so much, and I'm sorry for all the questions! I'm a very curious and oblivious person sometimes.

yee.

if you wanna give pixelling items a go, feel free to go annoy gallagher about it. it's easy once you get the hang of it, and i personally do all my pixelling stuff on a mobile phone.

Between Toho and I, we've got coding on lock. The code is mostly PHP, with a tiny bit of Python on the backend and a fair amount of Javascript running in the browser. There's no Java or C# involved in Trisphee.

(I've done a little bit of C++ on the backend for Trisphee before in the past, because C++ is my favorite language and I needed something fast, but it's not a standard part of the site.)

8Nephila8 04-10-2022 11:10 AM

I might try for pixelist, but I want to try doing a couple dolls in this style first.

I'm currently updating my portfolio though so maybe tomorrow.

Yes, C# has to my favourite one as well. Mainly cause I am so use to using Unity over Unreal Engine. Unreal has amazing things but it's quite daunting to learn how everything works and they just moved away from Blueprints and I really don't know much about C++/Python since have tried to code games or animation using it and everything I tried, didn't work and was close to tearing my hair out.

I probably wouldn't mind helping with writing if that was needed, kind of miss writing stuff for rpgs. And yes, pixeling is quite easy to pick up, I would say the hardest art form to pick up is drawing anything with a mouse. I remember a friend on another site that draws mainly via tablet was shocked I was learning to draw via Gimp and mouse and that I was actually producing quite decent art work.

Know for most sites, you only can necro if you have something to add to the conversion.. but can understand necroing on here since the site is so quiet right now and kind of want to redo my old rpg hunting thread up. Actually would help with designing the stories I want for a few pet profiles else where, lol. And provide updated references on my rpg style these days.

Den 04-15-2022 07:35 PM

I mean, I honestly do things in kind of a strange way, but it works. I have a design base printed off and taped to a clipboard. I use tracing paper, and draw my designs out with a pencil, then I use my cellphone camera (I have a decent one, Samsung S20!) and upload the pictures so I can share 'em with Galla and the others.

On occasion, if I can't get something quite right in my head translated right on paper, I'll turn to GIMP and use my mouse (I don't have a proper tablet yet. saving up for one after I move), to render my idea.

Stabbsworth 04-19-2022 05:32 PM

i just use ibis paint and a mobile phone because i have no sanity whatsoever. idk what the fuck rhyer uses, maybe firealpaca???

Espy 04-20-2022 05:04 PM

Frankly, I'm fucking terrified of your phone pixeling abilities.
