Fallen London Discussion Thread
been playing a lot of fallen london recently, since it's my go-to depression executive dysfunction-is-kicking-my-ass game.
technically this could be a discussion thread for sunless skies and sunless seas too, since they take place in an alternate branch of the same universe, i think. i dunno, i don't own a copy of those games. i should probably get a copy at some point, admittedly. anyways, feel free to discuss fallen london here. quick edit: i wouldn't suggest copy/pasting fate-locked content onto here, as the actual forums for the game prohibits it. |
yeeeeeeheeheeheeheee
hi I’m probably gonna get back into it this month for reasons; I know a couple other people on Tris also play. |
Yup, signed up today and already kind of addicted. Lots more entertaining than Improbable Island, actually. Ran out of actions pretty gosh golly quick though. Maybe I'll subscribe next month.
|
What are your names? I am Nightwatcher.
(also careful, my journal has fate-locked spoilers for Jack-of-Smiles. because of *course* i had to become jack-of-smiles.) |
I have never heard of this til now. And it interests me, so I'll check it out!
Here's my profile: https://www.fallenlondon.com/profile/kittykuma |
i'm voidbarker on there.
weirdly enough, i did acquire 1 fate at some point, somehow, then i spent it on trying to get the unaccountably peckish perk. |
I, uh. Hah, I... don't particularly want to do SMEN yet. That seems... extremely self-destructive.
EDIT: Oh heck it's election time |
Idk how to view how much money I have. :c Makes it kinda hard not knowing.
EDIT: Nevermind, I found it. XD Disregard my previous statement. |
i actually need to make an alt to do the other ending of SMEN. i think i'm midway through the game, tbh? though, god knows there's probably a lot more stories and such.
practically just defeated feducci. |
Checked your profile really quick, I don't think you're midway through the content.
...there's a lot of content. |
oh dear.
well, i'm currently trying to scrounge up the resources to provide for mr. wines' revels. |
Oh I got through that once. Currently too broke to do it again, unfortunately.
|
I'm just having fun with it for now. x3

Don't forget the annual elections are now!

I don’t have a clear favorite this year. Might be leaning towards Mrs Plenty.

This sounds more complicate than I thought. There community stuff going on with Fallen London or is this in-game stuff?
I haven't played, but I do have Sunless Seas and I have enjoyed it enough to want to take a look at Sunless Skies as well. It's a quiet game to play, and sort moves about as fast as your ship. I think I'm still on my original ancestry but not sure. I haven't played in so long that I've forgotten most details, but I've yet to get to the point where I can leave a will. I like the map though, and how with each excursion out I get a little bit further but I have to decide what is too far. I don't think I've lost everyone to starvation or madness yet. I've had some dark nightmares and curses but managed to save myself before eating people. Apparently new stories and characters come in, tied with events, but I'm not sure how long it's been since I updated my game through Fallen London. Steam doesn't take care of it that I'm aware of. |
In-game politics. Second and the last week of elections started today.
S Skies is similar to Seas but... not for everyone? They ARE still adding content, but as it stands, it's kind of a trading route simulator. I do like it, though. |
the game is pretty complex for a choose-your-own-adventure game tbh.

Of course North is never the same North.
So the reduction in ship speed with larger ships looks like a huge problem on paper, but larger ships are actually pretty beneficial. With a carefully planned route (and an encounter or two with the Pirate-Poet), I can get a good 300-400 Echoes every return to London, post food and fuel expenditures for the next trip. Skies is a LOT more trade route-y than Seas, though, and I feel like paths are restricted a lot more because your floating landmass obstacles often don’t have paths through them, so you end up burning a lot of fuel and food going around the rocks. |
i keep going to Arbor on occasion.
the good thing about it is that it refreshes the opportunity deck. |
Arbor?
|
uhhhhhh the place where you can get attar
|
Isn't that the Halloween place?
|
i've no idea, frankly.
|
hello delicious friends
just started playing this while commuting and have no idea what i'm getting into, but i love the shrouded mystery.
|
Hello delicious friend, what’s your IGN?
|
howdy, pal.
i don't really play fallen london a lot anymore, but i know a couple of people who do. |
Donsuemor
what made u stop? :o |
executive dysfunction.
|
...same tbh
I play on and off. |
I've acquired some cards. (but damn, shipping from the UK was only a few cents less than the deck itself.)

trying to get back into this game again, made an alternate account specifically for shuffling items around and seeking the name.
