Don't Wake Derpy!
Welcome to October, the month of spoopy spoops! While there are many spoopy things that may come to mind, there is one spoop which reigns supreme....a tired, cranky, Derpy!
Kaderin, taking a much needed mini-vacation has entrusted Derpy into your care. As she walks out the door, she says juat one thing. "Whatever you do, DON'T. WAKE. DERPY!" Welcome to Don't Wake Derpy, the luck-based task completion game where you will work both, as a team and on your own to complete sets of tasks. What does that mean? Keep reading and all will (hopefully) be made clear! |
Game Explanation and Rules
Don't Wake Derpy is a luck-based task completion game with both group and individual play components. What does that mean?
Let me give you a brief example to demonstrate how gameplay works! Make sense so far? Good! Just a few additional things to note then.
Game Prizes 10 event currency per completed easy-medium difficulty task 20 event currency per completed difficult task 60 event currency per bonus "pro" difficulty task (unlocked on the last 2-3 days of the event or when all other task levels have been finished) 1 past event bundle/set to the person who completes the most tasks in total |
Task Lists
Task2 Keep the Animals Quiet Difficulty: Medium (1d20 or rng 1-20) Derpy invited his animal friends over to play, but he was still pretty tired and fell asleep on the couch. Better keep those animals from disrupting Derpy's nap!

Art
Feel inspired to draw out a scene that happened (or just want to give Derpy more fan art)? Go for it! If you submit an art, you will recieve a random bonus (either to boost your roll/rng or an item that can be used). It can only be used once though, ao use it wisely! Also, Derpy may give out rare doodles too. |
oooh can I try finding Derpy's bib? Would that be a D6 too?
|
"Whoops! Meant to clarify that! Dice/rng will vawy by list and will be shown under the list title. But I'mma switch to 1d6/rng 1-6 on the fiwst one!"
(So yes.) |
|
Mdom decided to immediately begin the potentially daunting search for Derpy's favorite bib. It was actually on the counter right in front of them the whole time. Fastest search ever.
"Congwats! You succeeded and can go again in 10 minutes!" |
Oh yay, I have an excuse to dig up the dice bag!
|
"Yay, dice! What colors are they?"
|
I have dozens of dice. I have green ones, marbled ones, ans clear amethyst ones that look just like a set of gems. I also have a couple of chaos dice, I think it's the 1 that's replaced with their chaos symbol, which really just looks like an asterisk with arrow tips.

I shall try to... make donuts!
https://i.imgur.com/lUeWQAD.jpg Veshora tiptoes into the kitchen and searches for a bag of flour. She grabs a bowl and pours five cups of flour into it. Then she adds half a cup of sugar, of which she inadvertently spills a few crystals onto the countertop. No big problem though, Veshora licks her finger and dips them one by one. What's next? She looks into the cookbook. Ah, milk! She pours one and a half cup into the bowl. Then beats two eggs into the mixture. She almost forgets the yeast, but fortunately remembers before she heats up the frying pan. A bit of vanilla extract should add an even nicer flavour. She kneads the dough and then lets it rest for a few minutes, nibbling raw dough from her fingers. She rubs a speck of flour off her face and checks the heat of the frying oil. Perfect! Just a few more minutes of work in complete silence and there shall be tasty, fresh donuts on the breakfast table. |
Yay, I found my bag of dice, forest green velvet bag! Oh, someone else is making donuts. Okay while Veshora's doing that, I'll cut up some fresh fruit!
Lessee if I have a blue d6. Aw, no blue or even turquoise d6. But I do have a cool 'firestone' one! Speckled black and white with glowing yellow numbers. Well, they look glowy set in the dark material. And I rolled a 4! Okay, so when we start task 2, should I use my green and red bloodstone d20 or my sparkly silver glitter d20? |
Veshora:
As the first donut goes into the pan, the smell of fresh donuts wafts through the room and the sizzle of frying dough seems to echo through the house. In fact, it seems like it sounds much louder than it should. It it the kitchen's acoustics? Nervousness from Kaderin's ominous warning? Both perhaps? Derpy stirs a little and mumbles something quietly in his sleep. Thankfully, he remains asleep but it was close! "Yay! You did it! In 10 minutes, you can twy another!" |
Witchchylde:
The search for a knife was probably the hardest part of your whole task. And they were in a knife block on the counter. Quiet as a ninja, you sliced up a nice variety of fruit and it looks delicious! Derpy may have moved around in his sleep a little, but he kept snoring away. "Yay! Anover success! You can twy again in 10 minutes!" "And use sparkly!" |
*carefully puts the bloodstone die back in the velvet dice bag*
Already dropped and cannot find my d100 that looks like an aquamarine... it must have rolled far back behind the computer desk, or else gone in another direction entirely because the rng hate is too real. (That's the one that goes from 00 to 90 to roll with the 0 to 9 that matches it.) |
"Oh no! Come back, die!"
|
Yay, time to frost and decorate those donuts!
I rolled a 5! |
|
Witchchylde:
It was a sticky, messy job, but the nearly pro-level decorating of the donuts was worth it! **Congrats! You and Veshora have each gained a Delicious Donut for completing the donut tasks! This donut can be used to distract and appease Derpy and will allow you to re-roll (or re-generate a number) on any failed roll. Mdom: Thanks to Witchchylde, you knew where the knives were. And tracking down some bread was pretty easy, too. In fact, it's beginning to seem like Derpy care is way easier than you thought! Veshora: **Congrats! You and Witchchylde have each gained a Delicious Donut for completing the donut tasks! This donut can be used to distract and appease Derpy and will allow you to re-roll (or re-generate a number) on any failed roll. |
Oh, sweet! I'm sure that will come in handy.
(trying the next breakfast task once I'm actually on a proper computer, because this old machine decides to freeze on random.org) |
I'm getting the yogurt out of the fridge!
And I rolled a 4 again! |
Alright, let me try to... get honey.
https://i.imgur.com/oaYo0cp.jpg Veshora looks around in the kitchen. Where could the jar of honey be hiding? A dark and cool place probably. But not the fridge, no. That would be too much cold. She decides to look in the cupboard next to the tea and coffee first. After all it would make sense to keep sweetener close to the hot beverages. |
Witchchylde:
The inside of the refrigerator looks pretty messy, but after a little digging, you find a large container of Greek style yogurt. It's close to it's "best by" date, but still looks and smells fine. "Yay! You win again! Maybe this round is too easy..." Veshora: At first, you see nothing but boxes of herbal tea and a bag of coffee beans, but what's that at the back of the cabinet? A brand new jar of raw, unfiltered honey fresh from the farmer's market! Why was it so far back in the cabinet? Probably just to keep a sweets-loving dragon's little paws out of it... "You win again, too!" |
Derpy forgot to text Gizzie that we had an event :(
|
"Sowwy....I forgot..."
|
It's okay :) I share cake
|
"Yay! Cake is yummy!" Derpy sits on the floor, eating a piece of cake.
|
Seems like now would probably be a good time to set the table so all this food we're preparing has somewhere to go when it's ready.
Another 5! Wow, if only the dice liked me this well in D&D... and this was a pretty risky task what with the plates and silver and all. |
At this point, everyone is pretty sure that Witchchylde really is a ninja. The table is set beautifully and with only the occasional very soft sound as a plate, bowl or eating utensil was placed. Derpy doesn't even so much as twitch in his sleep.
|
No one has done tea yet? Let me start and put a kettle of water on the stove then.
https://i.imgur.com/wFtj3ud.jpg Veshora realizes she's up for a tricky task - after all some kettles whistle quite loudly when the water is hot, and she has no clue if Kaderin's kettle might be one of these. But then again sometimes you have to take risks both in life and breakfast. What would MacGyver do? She remembers that she saw some eggs in the fridge and decides to use egg cartons to soundproof the kitchen. |
Oh, need empty egg cartons? Okay, I'll scramble the eggs!
Ooh, I rolled a 2 this time... *cringes* |
Veshora:
Yer a wizard! Kaderin's kettle does whistle pretty loudly, although if you are very attentive, the large quantity of steam it emits prior to whistling is generally a good indicator. Were you watching the kettle closely? Did the egg carton trick work? Where on earth did you find that many egg cartons? No one will ever know, but Derpy remained sound asleep. Witchchylde: Unfortunately, that's a fail. You may either use your Delicious Donut now to re-roll or save it for later in the game. |
|
Um, I'll use the Delicious Donut now, I think.
Oh good, back to four! Phew! |
Witchchylde:
Unfortunately, as you were moving the eggs, one slipped and fell. The crack as it hit the floor seemed to echo throughout the room. You hold your breath. A shadow stretches across the floor, in the doorway, you see a dark shape and two glowing blue eyes. Derpy steps forward slowly. Once in the light of the kitchen, he sits in the floor and begins crying. At a volume that shouldn't be possible for someone so small. "WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" It's loud and distracting and is going to slow progress down as you all will have to cheer him up and get Derpy back to sleep. Thankfully, Witchchylde remembers that Derpy loves donuts, so they grab one from the counter and hand it to Derpy. He hiccups and looks surprised for a few seconds, then wipes at his eyes and snout with the back of one paw before taking a bite. Now happy again, he waddles back down the hallway to the bedroom, eating his donut before resuming his nap. After that, Witchchylde manages to clean up the dropped egg and scramble the rest of them properly in a pan instead of on the floor. Mdom: As you were starting on the oatmeal, the destracting wailing of Derpy almost caused you to spill the everything. Thankfully it didn't last long and the oatmeal, though possibly slightly over cooked, turned out pretty good! |
I have... a ton of egg cartons and no clue what to do with them. Anyone need some extra soundproofing?
Oh. Maybe I can use them as a tea infuser. Let's try to steep tea. https://i.imgur.com/Tdniey9.jpg Veshora cuts one carton apart and pours hot water into one of the pieces. It turns out a stupid idea, as the water softens the paper. She nevertheless shrugs it off as a learning experience - after all the kettle stunt worked out brilliantly. Grabbing a dishcloth she cleans the countertop and then searches for an actual tea ball to put the leaves in. |
