Moira was from a farmer's family. Even elves had caste systems. She wore the tarnished skin of a daily worker. Her hair was still a long, silken silver which she pulled away from her face into a ponytail. Strands fell around her eyebrows, green eyes peeked out beneath them. She was taller than her younger brother, and just as tall as the oldest. Being the only daughter was tough. You were pushed as hard as the boys, but overprotected at the same time. Right now, she felt lucky to get away from her family.

Bands of sunlight streamed from in between branches. Her favorite spot was in the forest of Venmenor. There was a secluded pond which she often dipped in. Today, she decided it an excuse to pick berries. After all, it was beautiful outside. The smell of forest mildew made her smile from cheek to cheek. She had a sprinkling of freckles just above her nose which were illuminated in the sunlight.

Crystalkitsune85 11-20-2017 12:56 AM

Kerian emerged from his cave and looked out across the vast expanse of the forest below his rocky cliff. He scanned the tree line and spotted the village of elves way off in the distance. His eyes narrowed and he snorted once and then shook his head. He sniffed the air trying to find breakfast and caught the scent of some deer a few miles away.

He took to the air after a fee moments of streching out his wings and flapping them a few times before taking off. He followed the scent of the deer and he spotted them a couple doe with a buck in a nice group. He circled around them a while and then took down after the buck, landing on his back and cracking his spine in half. He clamped down on the neck and snapped that as well.

The two doe ran off when he landed on the buck. He didn't care, he could track them down easily enough if he was still hungry. When he finished the Buck he lifted his head and sensed something else nearby. His nostrils flared and eyes pinpricked as he recognized it as elven. He stood there a second and then shifted into a more easier to maneuver in a forest form. He adopted a two-legged version of himself, black hair trailing down his back and lavender colored eyes. He wore all black and looked dark but not evil.

He stood in the forest, waiting for the elven female to come closer. He knew what she was, and she was fast approaching. Probably just looking for herbs or something.

Worm 11-20-2017 01:19 AM

The forest was normally calm, but today it seemed quiet. She lifted her head to the sky, saw birds flocking away. Her instincts were peaked. She began running, her movements stealthy and quiet. She leapt for cover beneath the trees, her bow cocked. Then, when she least expected it, a doe came running beneath her. And then another. Moira was shaking, knowing that something big was nearby.

She shifted forward to aim and before she knew it, she was slipping. Her foot didn't catch the branch as she'd hoped. With that misstep, she fell backwards from the branch and had to catch herself. Alas, all that she could grasp was the hard forest floor. She fell onto her ankle, it snapped under her weight. She let out a groan, looking at her basket spilling berries out onto the floor. She cringed, trying to get back onto her foot but any pressure shot arrows of pain up her spine. In the corner of her eye, she could swear she saw another elf.

Crystalkitsune85 11-20-2017 01:39 AM

Kerian walked casually through the forest and approached the elf. Since he had sensed her move but she stopped approaching when the doe ran past and she was heightened and in attack mode. He heard the fall from where he was, and heard the snap of her ankle meaning she broke it when she landed on it.

She was on the ground and he heard that a large boar was actually nearby snuffing through the grass and bushes. It had spotted Moira and was going to charge at her. Since she was injured and trying to get to her feet, he stepped into the clearing and stared it down. The boar started back and drug a hoof in the dirt ready to charge but he stood firm and eventually, the boar realized he was on the bottom of the food chain. He knew that Kieran was a dragon in a two-legged form and that if he didn't leave his life was at risk, so he retreated and ran off.

Kieran turned towards Moira who was still struggling. "Here I can help." he offered as he stepped towards her.

Worm 11-20-2017 08:55 PM

Moira watched as the boar reared its head, ready to charge. It was as if all of the animals in the area were angered by something that Moira was unable to understand. She sat, cringing in pain, looking over at the boar with tear filled eyes, hoping that someone would give her some sympathy. And then, there he was.

She would've jumped from his presence, if she hadn't already sensed him near. She bit her lip, looking him over. There was something strange about him, but she couldn't put her finger on it. Even the boar seemed intimidated by the man. Moira tried to stand again, only to fall fast. She wasn't one to take help if she didn't need it, but she regrettably needed it. So she grabbed the man's hand, hoping that he would pull her up. "Why, thank you." She was surprised that someone would be here just in time. After all, if he weren't here, she'd be shit out of luck trying to stop a boar from pummeling her with no way to run.

Crystalkitsune85 11-20-2017 10:20 PM

Kerian instead picked her up and held her effortlessly in her arms. He stared at her and then tapped her forehead "Sleep" he said simply and then watched as his magic caused her to drop into a deep sleep. He allowed his wings to come forth on his back and he rose up into the air and flew back to his cave.

He landed on the edge of the cliff by his cave and walked in. Off to the right was a large dark cave that seemed to go back for ages. Of to the Left, seemed to be a house face, with a door. Built with wood, using the cave as interior walls. As he walked forward, the door swung open for him and he walked inside. The dark cave was when he was a dragon and the home area was for when he indulged and walked on two legs instead.

He walked her to a large bed that was in the back of that home area and put her into it. He would look at her ankle since she was out. He set it and wrapped it up. He may be a dragon but that didn't mean he wasn't intelligent or know how to do the same things humans or elves could. He was well versed, he was knowledgeable of healing techniques and actually knew how to cook.

Worm 11-21-2017 02:17 AM

Moira was scooped up by the gentleman with ease, her cheeks turning pink in the moment. Before she could thank the man, she was asleep. And surely this was all part of her dream somehow.

She smelled smoke and opened her eyes. She was in an unfamiliar place. She wanted to jump up and get her bearings, but her foot was bandaged and propped. Was it real then? Moira groaned, rubbing her head. The sheets were soft, the room was well lit and decorated. It seemed like someone of high status would live here. She let out a meek attempt for attention. "Hello? Anybody here?" She still hadn't the slightest clue as to how she'd gotten here in the first place.

Crystalkitsune85 11-21-2017 02:45 AM

His head poked through the doorway. He was in the kitchen area cooking something for her to eat. "She wakes!" he said with a sly smile. "Welcome back to the land of the living. Please keep that leg elevated. You, unfortunately, broke it when you fell. I set it and did my best to cast it. You'll need to stay laying down for a while with that leg elevated." he explained.

He withdrew his head back into the small kitchen and kept cooking up something for her to eat. He came back with a tray and a bowl of stew with a cup of cold water. "Here you go, Miss...I'm sorry I don't know your name. I am Kerian." he introduced himself with a slight bow.

Worm 11-21-2017 04:51 PM

When she lifted her head again, the familiar elf looked around the corner. She remembered how she broke her ankle in a flood of memories. But still, she didn't remember getting here. She held her head, still spinning. She sniffed the air, smelling less like smoke and more like food now. Her stomach gurgled in response. He placed the tray in front of her, and she blushed. It smelled different than her mother's cooking, but good nonetheless.
"Well thank you - Kerian." Moira watched him bow, dipping her head in response.

"You may call me Moira." She smelled the steam coming off of the stew, excited to eat. "I'm from Xanaros Village." She peeked her head to try and find a window where she could get her bearings. "Where are we?" She asked in a hushed voice, holding the spoon above her bowl of stew.

Crystalkitsune85 11-21-2017 05:45 PM

He stood by to watch her eat the stew he provided for her. It was no big deal to go grab something small to cook up for the lady while she was sleeping. "Ah, I know that village. I pass by it all the time," he said idly. "Mostly while hunting." he mused. "I hope the food is to your liking. I'm afraid I use mostly meat in my dishes, but if you prefer something more green or sweet, please let me know. I'm sure I can find something down there you'll enjoy." he said looking back towards the door.

"It is nice to meet you Moira." he said softly. When she asked where they were he tilted his head slightly. "In my home of course. We are actually inside a cave, but one side of it, looked like a nice area to build a house, so I created my own home here, utilizing the cave's interior for walls and just built up the front with a door. And the Kitchen area, I actually hollowed out myself..."

Worm 11-22-2017 03:27 PM

The elf took a couple of spoonfuls of the stew, trying to really absorb its flavor. Though she did in fact prefer more green in her food, it was actually pretty good, albeit a bit salty. She smiled when he gave her other food options. She shook her head. "This is all so much. I couldn't ask you for anything else." Moira sipped another spoonful of the hot stew. It was healing in itself. She wondered what kind of meat it was, leaning towards deer or maybe boar.

As he explained the amenities of his home, Moira looked around. She actually didn't notice that the stone walls were part of a cave. "Wait, you built this place yourself? That's incredible!" She gasped, now appreciating the space even more. "But how?" She remembered her father and brothers rebuilding their home when it was struck down by humans. It took them days to build a simple tree-home. To hollow out a cave seemed like it would take immense manpower. She wasn't sure how much of Kerian's story was true. There was something increasingly peculiar about him.

Crystalkitsune85 11-22-2017 04:26 PM

He just smiled "Oh I have my ways." he said with a wink. "I will try and make your stay here as comfortable as possible since you will be here for a while. I will have to carry you to another area when you need to "relieve" yourself but don't worry, I won't watch. I am after all still a gentleman." he then stood and went back into the kitchen presumably to clean up what he did there moments before.

When he popped back out and saw that she was finished with her dishes, he took them and disappeared again. When he finally emerged after a short while he approached the bed. "I have some books here if you need something to pass the days away. Though currently, I think you should get some rest. Dusk approaches and will be night soon. As soon as I think you are able to be relocated, I will send you to your own people to care for you. They would more than likely have better ways of caring for you then I." Kerian said.

Worm 11-22-2017 05:32 PM

She tried to feel comfortable in the man's presence. After all, he did rescue her. There was something that kept Moira suspicious. She blushed, bowed, and thanked the man at every opportunity. She nodded at the idea of sleep, however, she wasn't sure if she would be able to. She wasn't usually this agreeable. The elf just felt so incapacitated, that she felt there was no choice.

As she looked towards the outside, she wondered what her family thought. She wondered if they worried. "Do you think... Do you think you could tell my family that I'm okay? Perhaps carry a letter to them?" Though she would preferably be returned to them now, she was happy to hear that Kerian planned on returning her. Her eyes were red and droopy. Though the steam of hot food seemed to perk her up, she was stressed. In a foreign environment, everything seemed stressful. So she tried her best to remain a lady. "And... I think I would like to... Use your... Err, relieve myself." Her knees folded over each other, in attempts to hold it in. Her face was bright pink, looking down at the sheets.

Crystalkitsune85 11-22-2017 05:47 PM

He smiled knowingly "Why of course." he said and picked her up and carried her to an outdoor "outhouse" of sorts that used a small waterfall as runoff, to carry all the bad stuff away. He set her at the door of the outhouse and then went around the corner so she had privacy.

As she did her 'business' he spoke to her. "I can give you a pen and paper and you can write your family a letter and I will see it gets delivered," he told her. "I wouldn't want them to worry."

When she was done and would call out that she was finished would he return to retrieve her and take her back inside. By that point, the sun was finally down and stars were starting to twinkle across the sky. "Let us get you back inside." he said and then carried her back to the bed. "Would you like to write that letter now or in the morning?" he asked.

Worm 11-22-2017 05:56 PM

It felt good to be outside. The sound of the waterfall helped Moira with her stage fright. After the deed was done, she was whisked away again. The man seemed to carry her with ease. It made her bubble up in her stomach as if they were flying. Upon returning to her bed, she felt a sense of dread. She would never want to be trapped somewhere.

"I think I would like to write it now, if that's alright?" She knew she wouldn't be able to sleep much tonight. She had too many questions on her mind. Who was this gentleman? Why was he so stoic? What was he hiding? How did he get to her just in time? Was this all just a coincidence aligned by the stars?

"What of your family? What are they like?" She smiled, letting down her hair finally. Long strands of silvery blonde fell over her shoulders. Her eyes glowed with curiosity.

Crystalkitsune85 11-22-2017 06:20 PM

He retrieved her a piece of blank paper, an ink and quill and something solid to write on since she couldn't sit at the desk. He would provide an envelope for her when the ink dried. As she wrote she asked about his family.

He was silent for a moment. "Most of my family moved on. I think my mother is still alive. Not sure about my siblings. We all scattered out after we were old enough to leave home. I came here and made a home and such for myself. My mother would be mad that I've not taken a mate, but not easy to find one when you live here and don't leave much. Not even sure there are any females around here to take as a mate.." he shrugged "Eh it's fine though. I like being alone."

Once she was done writing he let the ink upon it dry before folding into an envelope. He took the writing tools away and then handed her a book. "Here you can read this while I'm gone," he said and tucked the letter into his pocket. "I"ll be back soon."

Worm 11-22-2017 11:08 PM

Moira smiled, grabbing the paper and pen delicately. She wrote in her native script as Kerian reminisced about his family. It seemed oddly, lonely. At least compared to her own family life. She was constantly surrounded by her mother, father, brothers and cousins. She hardly had any time to herself. In some ways, the quiet of this strange man's home was welcomed. Yet, it left her wondering if he were from some foreign land. Especially when he mentioned having no mate.

While Moira's mother was much the same, pushing her to find a suitor, it was the way he called it a 'mate', rather than any mention of marriage. She wondered if he wanted to get married. He was a rather handsome man, after all. She couldn't understand why he wouldn't already have a mate... Then again... Moira was a desirable virgin, who at twenty years old, remained unmarried. She was picky. And the men in her village were all so desperate for attention, it made it hard for her to take any of them seriously. She wanted something that felt natural, like those in storybooks.

"I find it interesting how different your family is from mine." She smiled, marking her final signature with a curvy stamp before handing the letter to Kerian. She watched him carefully put it into an envelope and for some reason, she blushed again. She looked down at her sheets, trying to hide her pure nature. As the man handed her the book, her eyes lit up. "Oh, thank you!" She stroked the spine, feeling the weight of it. It was beautifully bound. "Its beautiful." She smiled sheepishly, flipping through it. It was written in a different dialect than her own, wondering if this was Kerian's native language.

"Be safe." Moira gleamed, watching the man leave her room. And for once in her life, she was actually alone.

Crystalkitsune85 11-23-2017 01:24 AM

As he stepped outside instead of going full dragon, he would just bring out his wings again as he did before. He stretched them out and then jumped off the edge of the cliff. The faint sound of wings could be heard flapping as he flew off, from inside where Moira was.

He knew her village oh too well. He made the mistake of flying over it when he was new to the area. Apparently, they had been attacked by dragons in the past because alarms went off and flaming arrows were being shot at him. One nicked his wing and almost caused him to falter and fall, but he flew away as fast as he could.

He didn't exactly despise the elves, he just stayed away from them. He landed a few feet away from the village and made his wings disappear before he walked to where there were two elven guards standing outside the gate. "Please give this to the family of Moira please. She is under my care at the current moment. I found her in the woods near my home with a broken ankle and she cannot be moved presently. I'll return her as soon as she's able." He handed the letter out to the left guard.

Worm 11-24-2017 11:36 PM

The hair on Moira's neck rose from the sound of flapping outside. She couldn't decide whether it was a big bird, or - what. All she knew was that it brought up memories from a distant past. She was still a child. Her mother scooped her up from a huge fire, her oldest brother was helping their father wrangle out animals from their stalls. The smell of singed wood and screaming people resurfaced in her brain. She took a large gulp, and decided to start reading.

"Loquin's Ward" She wrinkled her nose, still trying to rid her head of negativity. She sighed and flipped into the first page. From there she was flipping through pages nonstop. It told a story of a dragon and their family. The memories of fire and pitchforks returned but were combated by the beautiful story's dialogue. She was stricken and confused. Moira wondered just what a dragon's scales would feel like.

Crystalkitsune85 11-24-2017 11:56 PM

Kerian left the village as soon as the letter was handed off. It was up to the guards to deliver it or not. He didn't want to linger there any longer then he needed to. As soon as he was out of sight and earshot, he grew his wings again for the third time and headed back to his cave.

He landed and withdrew his wings and then headed back inside where Moira was reading. "Delivered. Though I handed it to a guard outside the village so I hope he delivers it," he said as he closed the door. "How is the book?" he asked as he sat down nearby. "I hope it's interesting enough to keep your attention. I have others if that one doesn't suit you."

Worm 11-25-2017 12:01 AM

Moira nearly leapt from her sheets at the sound of Kerian's voice. Though she heard the sounds of distant flapping, she definitely didn't expect him to return so quickly. Perhaps they were closer to her village than she'd thought? When she looked down at her book, she noted that she was already twenty pages in. So she looked up at Kerian with a bashful smile. "No, this one is rather good." She closed it over her finger momentarily, trying to shake her curiosities away. "Tell me, have you ever seen a dragon?" She brushed a strand of hair from her face as she said so.

Crystalkitsune85 11-25-2017 01:23 AM

He knew it was only a matter of time before she started asking about dragons. He found the situation to be very humorous but he didn't let her see that on his face. "Yes, I've seen dragons before," he said slowly. He wasn't going to exactly tell her hewas a dragon, but he would at least tell her he saw dragons before.

"Where I was before here, there were quite a few around me. They didn't cause trouble though. Most kept to themselves." he said with a shrug, which wasn't a lie. Growing up as a fledgling, he was often ignored. He left home mainly because nobody cared enough about him toowant to mate with him.

Worm 11-26-2017 01:30 AM

Moira cringed, closing the book in front of her. "Hmph. Well the only times I've seen a dragon, there was smoke and fire." She held down a growl. "And death." She spat out. She looked out towards the open night sky. "Y'know, our village says that befriending a dragon is good luck. They say its a curse to kill them." She scoffed, looking down now. "But what were we supposed to do? Besides, their horns and scales make very powerful weapons." She didn't want to give away all of their family secrets and lore. She only met this person.

Crystalkitsune85 11-26-2017 02:35 AM

He bristled inwardly at the mention of using hides and horns as weapons. "Dragons go where there's food. If wild food is scarce, their only choice is livestock that's out in the open by humans or other races that farm." he said as he didn't want to leave her kind out. "If they have no other choice but to starve, they'll go after livestock. Those who's livestock is attacked, sees this as a personal threat, and if they are attacked for trying to not go hungry, they retaliate.

I"m sorry that your people had a bad experience with a dragon, but they are right. If you befriend a dragon they can be very powerful allies."
he stated. He got up from beside her chair as if offended. "I will check on you later," he stated shortly and left the home portion of the cave and went back further to the caves. His dragon size nest was in a chamber filled with luminescent crystals. He heaved a sigh and looked back. He was harboring someone who out and out hated dragons. If she knew what he was...But he wasn't like how she mentioned at all...but it seemed in their eyes, all dragons are the same.

Worm 11-26-2017 03:59 AM

Moira did remember the talons of a dragon's feet latching onto a cow before flying off. Perhaps it was after the first throw of a pitchfork that the dragon actually attacked with fire. She wasn't actually there when her village was attacked, so she wasn't sure how it all happened. She did remember though... That the dragon was killed. It was a green serpent dragon with antler-like horns. Supposedly different types had different powers and abilities.

"Goodnight." She watched Kerian walk off, obviously hurt by Moira's words. It seemed odd. She wondered how close Kerian had been to the dragon he'd seen. Perhaps he had actually befriended one. Moira looked down at the leather bound book, stroking it over the burnt lettering. Perhaps this book would give her some insight. She definitely wouldn't sleep tonight.

Crystalkitsune85 11-26-2017 06:28 AM

Kerian didn't change back to his full-sized self. He didn't think it was a good idea, nor was going back to Moira right away. Instead, he just slid down into his familiar pit and leaned up against the crater that served as his nest. For his human size, he dwarfed the large area, but it was at least something he knew. He stared up at the ceiling of the cave which actually had a nice sized hole in it. He was able to see the stars from where he lay.

He stared for a while and then heaved a sigh. He couldn't just neglect Moira, nor could he keep what he truly was too much longer. The more they spoke the more suspicious of things she'd get. It was only a matter of time before she put two and two together. As soon as she was able, he'd take her back to her people and not have to worry about her at all.

Worm 11-26-2017 02:33 PM

The sun came up in bright surges that made Moira delirious. She groaned, holding her arm in front of her face. She must've fallen asleep at some point. The leather book was spread open, halfway through on the bedspread. She dreamed of a dragon breathing on her face, his snout puffing up her hair. She felt like she could still see its eyes. And for some reason, it made her think of Kerian. She wondered where he was. Hopefully he was okay.

Crystalkitsune85 11-26-2017 04:16 PM

Sunlight filtered through the hole in the ceiling above his bed. He looked up and frowned. When did he fall asleep? He shook his head and climbed out of the crater and brushed himself off. He walked into the house a few moments later and saw that Moira was also just waking up.

"Sorry I must have dozed off in the cave. I meant to come back to check on you. I guess sleep claimed both of us. Are you feeling better? Do you need to use the outhouse before I make you breakfast?" he asked. He felt a small chill in the air due to the fact the fire in the built-in fireplace had gone out. He sparked a few pieces of dry tender from existing banked coals to get the chill out of the room.

Worm 11-26-2017 05:04 PM

She felt ashamed and estranged, her hair was starting to form a nest in the back of her head. Moira nodded when he asked about the outhouse. "I feel much better after some sleep." She yawned, stretching so that her shoulders would pop. "Though, I'm still curious about dragons. I've only seen one of them up close. My mom and dad have seen two each..." She fiddled her fingers. "Well, did you actually meet one?" To be honest, if it were possible to befriend a dragon, imagine the power one could have.

Crystalkitsune85 11-26-2017 05:59 PM

He went to the bed and picked her up and carried her outside to the outhouse. As she did her business she was still talking about dragons. He groaned inwardly and he clenched his fist. She wasn't going to let up on her curiosity about him knowing dragons in the past.

"I guess you can say, where I lived before...we were friends with the dragons. I was around them a lot." He said. "I have been around dragons since I was young."
He then went quiet as she finished her morning 'duty'.

Worm 11-30-2017 05:40 PM

Moira had heard about villages who actually befriended dragons, though it seemed more like a fairy tale. She was skeptical, but a little humbled. "Really? What are they like? When they aren't stealing cattle and burning villages..." She chuckled.

Though the magnificent creatures had destroyed her village previously, she still had some kind of admiration of their power. They were beautiful, to be honest. She'd just never considered what they were like when they were alone, or with their families. Hence why the book Kerian gave her was so interesting. She wondered if his upbringing was similar to the family in the book. She finished up and before she knew it, she was scooped up by Kerian again. His arms were stiff and stable, she felt safe in them.

Crystalkitsune85 11-30-2017 05:48 PM

"I guess in most ways, dragons are much like any other species. We....I mean they have families just like elves or humans do. It's sad that a lot of people think them as just beasts. Ones that just have a bloodlust and can't think intelligently. Dragons are VERY intelligent. They can read, write, craft, do magic, cook. Some just choose not to. Some are just lazy and would rather act like dumb beasts.

There are also different types of dragons as well. Mountain dragons, which are the most common. There are Slyph dragons, that can make themselves invisible as they live among the clouds. Water dragons that live underwater. I think they're called sea serpents though."
He said as an afterthought. "I have another book inside with types of dragons too with illustrations if you wish to see."

Worm 12-01-2017 05:28 PM

Moira's imagination ran wild as Kerian explained all of the qualities that dragons had. None of which she was aware of. How did they do all of these things without thumbs? Or did they have magical mind powers which could move things as they pleased? She was so caught up in thought, that she didn't notice Kerian's misstep in words. After all, he couldn't be a dragon, he was clearly an elf like her.

Moira had heard of there being variations of dragons, but she had only seen the common mountain type. She wondered how each of these species differed. "I would like that." She responded, anxious to see illustrations of these magnificent creatures. Maybe someday, she could be like Kerian and befriend a dragon.

Crystalkitsune85 12-01-2017 05:42 PM

Kerian carried her back into bed from the outhouse. He went to his bookshelf and pulled free the book bound with dragonskin. When she looked at him oddly at the book's binding he sat down and explained. "Some dragons that are either sick and dying or old and dying, will donate their bodies after their death. Dragonskin is very strong and books bound with it will last for a very long time. A book like this should be preserved." he handed it to her. "I did a few of the illustrations in that book, but there are some others that saw dragons in other areas that I did not see."

Worm 12-01-2017 06:12 PM

Moira had only seen dragon skin used for imperial armor, it was a sign of status. To see it so humbly bound was a shock. She wondered if Kerian knew the dragon from which this skin came. "Wow. Thank you for sharing this with me." Her eyes were wide with intrigue. All of this was so unusual, that Moira was unsure if she was dreaming. Maybe she was still lying on the forest floor, trampled by a boar. She stroked the book's cover, carefully. "Show me the dragons that you knew." She smiled a childlike grin, peering up at the man who'd rescued her.

Crystalkitsune85 12-01-2017 06:25 PM

Kerian undid a clasp that held the book closed and opened to the type of dragon he was.
https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com...168bc6876d.jpg

Showing her that they were mountain dragons. He showed her the came in a variety of colors. He himself was a black variety, but they came in deep tones of pretty much every color. "Here these are the ones I knew." he pointed.

Moira leaned in, eyes widening at the detailed images. She touched the pictures curiously. "They are beautiful." She had a worried look in her eyes. "That's the kind that burnt my village." She pointed to an image next to the black one, it had a deep red color and burning eyes. She much preferred looking at the sleek, black dragon.

He looked to the page next to the one he showed. He gave scowl added with a frown. "Fire dragon," he said. "They are the troublemakers of our kind. I've known or seen very few that aren't hot-headed and quick to anger. They are also greedy and very selfish. They are the kinds that hoard treasure and are fascinated with gold and other shiny things. These are the ones you hear the most about because of the troubles they cause. Ones that are constantly being fought against and killed by humans. The mountain dragons are similar in size but don't breathe fire. We can summon fire, but not breathe it out." he said using 'we' and not catching himself this time.

"Because of our similar size, and the ignorance of humans, the mountain dragons often get slain for no reason. Or accused of being a menace when really, they rather just keep to themselves."

Moira quirked an eyebrow, now noticing his misplaced 'we'. "You know so much more about dragons than any other elf I've met." She was ultimately a bit skeptical, shifting in her sheets to get a better look at the elf with black hair. "And you talk as if you are a dragon." She gulped before letting out a nervous laugh. That couldn't be true, right? It was just a rumor that dragons could shape shift. They told it to children so they wouldn't talk to strangers. At least, that's what she'd hoped and always believed. "I mean, if you were one, you wouldn't eat me or anything would you?" She pressed her brows together now, as if pleading. She wasn't sure that Kerian was a dragon, but something about his affinity with them, made her question whether or not he was harboring some deep secret. Maybe he was just keeping her captive to feed to his family dragons.
