Life in Equestria [PurpleBox+Crystal]
This is a private rp between myself and Crystalkitsune85. Enjoy ^w^ Cyclone Kick was more then happy to help his friends and their families. The tan stallion with a lilac and purple colored mane had received a letter from his best friend asking him to help her younger cousin with carting supplies from the Celestial Valley to Canterlot. Apparently Frost Singer, his friends younger cousin was moving her base of operations from the valley and closer to Canterlot where a lot of her supplies were bought. That and Frost was blind, you wouldn't know just by looking at her, her dark blue eyes hid her lack of sight rater well, it also didn’t hurt that she was a unicorn and often used her magic to alert her if something was in her way. “Thank you again Cyclone, you didn’t have to help me, but I’m happy you did.” The blind mare smiled at the stallion who smiled back and gently knocked his elbow into her side. “DD would have my wings if I let you make this trip alone, you know how she gets. Besides there’s a package I need to pick up in Canterlot anyway so it’s a win-win.” Cyclone ‘s ear’s twitched, the piercings he had glittered in the light. On his back he carried a variety of bags, boxes and rolled fabrics. The blind mare rolled her eyes, they had left the Canterlot train station a few minutes ago, Frost had a map floating in front of her before the map moved to be in front of Cyclones face. A Blue circle on the map showed where Frost was moving to, and so the pair set off. It didn’t take long to find the shop with an apartment space above it, the shop was empty, soon it would be full of the unique sculptures that Frost created. Pulling the key out of her saddle bag Frost opened the doors and the two went inside. The shop portion was small, big enough that Frost could set up her works with no two the same even close together. There was a door in the back that lead up into the apartment space, this was where Cyclone Kick slid the things he’d been carrying off his back, his wings stretched off his sides and up towards the ceiling. “Go and get your package Cyclone, I’ll be fine here for now, Singer’s Sculptures isn’t opening for another week. Lot’s of time for me to get used to my new home.” Frost smiled at Cyclone who made a hum of approval. Before he left he said. “Don’t be shy if you need help, DD and I are just a letter away.” He ruffled the mare's mane and she frowned but then smiled as she fixed her mane. “I’ll be fine… I lived by myself before in the valley… it’s just the noise I’ll have to get used to...The realtor pony said that the shop next door is a jewelry shop or something… at least I’ll be living next to another artist of sorts. Now go, off with you.” He waved her hoof at him as he laughed and left her along. Once outside Cyclone looked to either side of Frost’s new home and in deed he saw a jewelry shop on one side. “Maybe I can grab something for DD’s birthday on my way home.” The stallion said before going to pick up the package at the post office. Cyclone Kick’s own job took him all over the place, lately it had slowed down to delivering packages for old ponies who didn’t want to have to leave their homes to get whatever it was they ordered… so he was partnered with the post ponies in a way. The package was large and he prepared himself for a hard run, the destination was a cottage on the outside of Canterlot. Strapping himself into a borrowed cart he set off humming a song to himself. ------------------------ Frost Singer had always disliked it when her parents rearranged the house... bumping into things and getting bruises where a regular thing as a filly. At least now she was just bumping into the boxes she’d packed, the mover’s had brought the rest of her things, the things that could be replaced if they got broken. Cyclone Kick had carried the irreplaceable things. Little trinkets she was setting on window sills with her magic once she had walked around the simple apartment. A single main space with a bathroom and a bedroom off to the side. Her family had always been concerned of her living on her own, being blind and all, she had gotten used to ponies pitying her… they thought she saw no beauty in the world, but the opposite was true. Frost way the world through different eyes, her magic let her see a echo of things… though this wasn't her talent. With a small grunt of pain as she walked sideways into her new bedroom wall trying to set up the bed she sighed. “Ok… time for a break...I wonder if that was a cafe we passed a block back.” She said to herself as she fixed her saddle bag back onto herself. She’d learn her way about… maybe she’d also check out her neighbours shop. With those thoughts in her mind Frost Singer locked her shop door and turned to face Canterlot. |
It was another bright, sunny day in Canterlot and Crystaline left her small home outside the city and headed towards her jewelry shop. She had used the previous weekend to gather more jewels to bring with her to her shop. She had a small workshop in the back of her shop, while during the day she would make new pieces.
She trotted happily to her shop, noticing a pegasus pulling a cart and another unicorn passing by as she walked. Once at her shop, she pulled a key from her small pouch she had on her back using her blue magic. She unlocked the door and headed in. The first thing to do was to switch her 'closed' sign to 'open' and then closed the door. She trotted to the back of the store to her workroom and transferred her bag to table and took out the crystals. Crystaline's talent was working with Crystals exclusively. She would hunt for them and sometimes get some sent to her from a friend at the Crystal Empire. Once she had them, she would set them into collars, make pendant amulets, earrings, hoof cuffs, tiaras, and anything else custom that certain ponies would want. With the cut and shine of the crystals she used, they would end up looking more expensive in quality then what she charged. She grabbed all of her red crystals and started working on them. The bell on her shop door would jingle if she happened to get any customers. Her items were on display behind locked glass cases, and access to her workroom was behind a small closable half door that kept customers out of the back room. She hummed to herself as she worked. She used her magic to shape the pieces into small hearts which would dangle from the necklace chain once she assembled it together. |
It was easier to find the cafe then Frost had anticipated, the ponies she’d met were friendly, that made Frost smile. One of the waiters in the cafe had even given her directions to the local market, about another two blocks from her apartment. Now she was heading home a small skip in her trot, passing the store next to her shop she thought she heard humming, being blind her other senses were heightened so even the smallest sound caught her attention.
Carefully making her way to the window she looked blankly at the glass, a pale blue magic glowed at the tip of Frost’s horn and then went out, letting her briefly see inside the shop before the world was black once again. There was somepony in there, in the back, probably the owner, she wondered if she should go introduce herself, the pony had looked to be working on something. “Maybe later… I know I get upset when somepony interrupts me….” Frost said with a small smile, moving back towards her own shop. In the shop space some of her bigger sculptures were already set, waiting to be put on display or to be used to display. She’d carved her own shelves for her last little shop back in the valley. The grey mare was stronger then she looked in some cases, she could move her works with her magic with ease, decided to get some work done she put her saddle bag on the built in counter that had come with the shop space. It took a moment find her workstation, she pulled it to a corner where there was a window into the outside. Then Frost gathered her tools and some clay, unless she was working with her specialty material right away the blind unicorn tended to try and map out what she would do first. Wood was the only other medium she used for her art. A few hours had passed when she heard a hoof knocking on the shop door. She almost jumped off her stool in surprise and heard a throaty chuckle through the glass and wood of the door as she approached it. |
Crystaline worked for a bit and felt a presence and saw a shadow cross her door. She stood waiting for them to come in but then when they left she shrugged and went back to work. After a while she noticed that it was way after lunch time so she decided to grab something to eat before she finished up her latest piece.
She stretched out a little and then yawned. She shook her mind clear and then put a "back in 30 mins" sign on her door and locked it before heading over to the Cafe. As she went into the cafe, she passed the unicorn from before, she saw with a stallion pegasus earlier. She said a brief hello as she passed her. At the Cafe, she ordered an ice tea and a daisy sandwich. She loved the food here at this Cafe, and it was always fresh and delicious. As she waited she pony watched the other ponies walking around the cafe. She was always amused at how busy it was in Canterlot. She usually had good business so she couldn't stay at the cafe for too long. She needed to get back as soon as it was finished. She usually ordered to go on the busier days so she could get back. She tapped her hoof waiting for her order and when it finally came, she pushed some bits to the waiter for the meal and then she took the box with her bottled tea and the wrapped up sandwich. She returned to her shop and decided to sit right outside on a bench in the sunlight instead of inside, but she unlocked the door before she sat in case she got any customers while she ate. |
Cyclone Kick was waiting on the other side of the door when Frost opened it. “I leave for a few hours and your holdup sculpting again?” he said in jest with a smile and the grey mare shook her head with a sigh. Cyclone noticed a very pretty mare sitting outside the shop next door but he kept his attention on the blue maned mare in front of him.
“I can't stop doing what makes me happy Cy. Good thing you stopped by when you did… I probably would have missed a proper meal, what a way to start a fresh start.” Frost smiled before adding. “I found a Cafe close by that has some of the best food, come with me.” She said using her magic to tidy things up and float her saddle bag over to her before the pair left the shop again. Before they got more than a few hoof steps from the shop Cyclone paused. “Hold on Frost, I kinda want to check out the store next to your place… DD’s birthday is coming up… I didn’t have a lot of time last year to get her anything.” the stallion turned himself around and the pair headed towards the door of the jewelry shop. “Cy you know she doesn't really care what it is you get her… just that it comes from you is enough… plus DD doesn't really like birthday parties…” Frost said but followed the stallion anyway. A tanned hoof pushed open the door and lead the way inside, Cyclone looked around and whistled lowly at what he saw impressed him. The stallion flipped his mane out of his face before speaking again. “Yeah I know… but I always like to get her something of meaning...She’s my best friend after all.” The stallion smiled as he began to look around. Frost just smiled and shook her head as he stepped to the side as to not block the door. |
Crystaline had just finished up her lunch and had headed back inside as Cy spotted her. She threw away her trash into a bin outside before walking in. She headed to her back room and started getting back to work. She heard voices outside her shop and that prompted her to stop her work and come out into the main store area. She saw (again) the same two from before.
"Welcome to Crystaine's Creations," she said cheerfully to the both of them. "IS there anything I can help you two with today?" She asked. She watched as they seemed impressed by her wares and that made her beam a little. " If you don't see anything you like or are looking for, I can also custom make pieces as long as I get a decent description." She watched mostly the stallion. He was very well built and not at all like the lithe pegasi she was used to seeing. He was built like a farm worker stallion Earth Pony, just with wings. It was sort of refreshing to see a Pegasus who used his legs more than his wings. |
Cyclone looked up to see the pretty unicorn pony from before, he smiled as she spoke, his bright green eyes looking around the shop again before focusing on the mare again. “I’m looking for a gift for a friend, a birthday gift.” He said still smiling a relaxed friendly smile. He noticed the mare watching him mostly, and he was used to those looks, he was a well built stallion after all, his green eyes fell so some simple yet stunning necklaces before he spoke again.
“Do you have any mane pins or headbands?” He asked thinking about all the times that DD had to stop her brewing and push her mane out of her eyes and out of the way. She didn't like to shop any places aside from the book store in Ponyville, he did most of the shopping for their shared fridge, room mates looked after each other, it didn’t hurt that the pair were best friends too. Frost busied herself with ‘looking’ at some of the items that were on display by the door, she could feel the care that had gone into this ponies form of art. It made her smile that she’d be living beside another artist. Back in the Valley, art was a secondary thing, families and working the land came first. Her father had moved there to be with her mother, leaving her cousin’s dad in Manehattan with the rest of their family. |
(( Crystaline is a Unicorn btw XD))
Crystaline smiled "Oh yes we have some clips for manes. Are there any particular things she is into? Stars? Moons? Hearts?" she listed off a few. "Some mares don't mind the shape, but does he have a favorite color? Those are over here." she said moving over to the 'mane care' section. A selection of mane clips, headbands, tiaras, and just some mini clips to decorate a mane for special occasions and not everyday wear. She turned and watched the grey mare looked around at another display case. While Cy walked over and looked at the case she was standing behind, she called over to the other mare. "Is there anything you are looking for?" she asked her. "Again if you want something custom I don't charge extra and I'm pretty efficient with my work so I can have it done pretty fast if you need it quickly." she said. She would stand there and let the stallion look through the case, and think about her questions as he browsed. "We'd want your friend to have the best gift possible, and I can make that happen. Or at least hope so." she said sheepishly. |
[edited it XP i thought she was a earth pony... but then i remembered... it's another one that's the earth pony Xp]
“She likes the moon, full moons… circles really guess.” Cyclone rubbed the back of his head, DD liked circular things...things that were perfectly round… she told him they made her feel safe... “Purple… a cool colored purple is her favorite.” he spoke as he followed the unicorn mare towards the display case and looked over the items on display. Frost blinked and looked up in the direction of the sales’s ponies voice. “No, I’m just browsing, and waiting for Cyclones to finish up. Some of these pieces feel very intricate.” The blind pony said in praise with a smile on her face. The only jewelry she ever wore was a ank necklace, she’d found it when her family visited Saddle Arabia when she’d still be a blank flank filly. The shape had always interested her. It hung around her neck by a thick black cord even now. Cyclone found a mane pin that was a sparkly purple circular shape, it was perfect. Not to flashy, and it was practical looking. “I think this one will be perfect.” He said to the sale’s pony. “Do you make all these?” he asked. The only ponies he knew on a personally bases that where this creative where Frost and his second cousin who he didn't see that often. |
Crystaline searched the cases for what he described. She knew she had something perfect for what he wanted. He spotted it before she did. Her eyes went to the pair of clips nestled in a nice velvet lined jewelry box. "Yes of course. Only five bits for the pair," she said making sure he wanted to pay that before she unlocked the case and pulled it out.
When she heard the comment from Frost, she smiled. "Thank you! And yes I do make these all myself. I have a workroom in the back. That is where I work when there aren't any customers. Usually on the weekends I'll go crystal hunting. Sometimes a friend of mine who lives near the Crystal Empire will send me stuff he finds. Quite useful actually. I've sold the pieces made with them for a little more though, since I don't get them often and who wouldn't want to wear Crystal Empire crystals?" she said with a smile. |
"The Crystal Empire?... I think I've delivered some things from there once or twice... I know I've delivered packages too there before. It's all really shiny." Cyclone said as he dug around his own saddle bag to grab the 5 bits. It was a reasonable price considering how much work must go into everything.
"Never been there myself...This is my first time outside the Celestial Valley in many years." Frost said her ears twitching at the clink of the bits that Cyclone paid for the clips he's wanted. Well at least now he wouldn't be begging her for gift ideas days before the birthday. "I think once my shop opens I'll need to hire some pony to help me. I tend to get lost in my work." Frost smiled still, she loved working on her sculptures. Back in the valley her father had been that helper in a way. Both Frost's parents and DD's parents, along with the reclusive unicorn herself, would be coming by for the opening next week, Frost was looking forward to seeing her aunt and uncle again. |
Crystaline pulled the clips from the case after unlocking it. She floated the bits with her magic to her cash box and then wrapped a nice little purple bow around the box once she closed it. She then floated it to Cy. "Here you go, and I hope your friend likes the gift," she said with a warm smile. With the mention of the Crystal Empire, she smiled "I visit my friend occasionally when I get the time. He and I go off for lunch and admire the palace. I even got to see Cadence at a glance once." she said happily. "She's such a pretty princess. I'd love to meet her someday." she heaved a wistful sigh.
When she heard Frost mention a shop she perked up. "Oh! Did you rent the vacant shop next to mine? I'll have to come over someday and look at your things. What sort of things will you be selling?" she asked. |
Cyclone found himself blushing a bit as the mare smiled and spoke, her voice was like crystal bells, clear and strong. "I don't get to sight see much when I end up up there... the customers all want things done on time and all that razzle dazzle." Cyclone said with a joker's smile. He accepted the case with the clips and set it in his saddle bag and smiled when Frost was put on the spot in a way.
"I make sculptures... center pieces, art pieces, bits and bobs... mostly wood...and ice... my ah.. my magic makes ice un-melting..." The grey make was blushing a bit, hr darker freckle spots stood out in this. "I won't have many new pieces for a bit... I worked non stop on the pieces I brought with me to sell here. All my art is functional... unless someone commissions something else." He said rubbing the back of her bane, the dark blue strands shimmers like sapphires in the light. Cyclone looked at the pair as they spoke, he smiled at Frost making friends already, that was good. It helped that the other mare was a artist in her own way too. The blind mare had always felt more at ease around new ponies if they had similar hobbies to her. "The shop's opening in a week, Singer's Sculptures." Cyclone said with a grin. He was proud of his friend for finally branching out on her own and it showed in the stallion voice. "Thanks for the clips, come on Frost, lets find that Cafe you where telling me about before I got sidetracked." He said this with a wink to the teal unicorn, since the shop had caught his eye before well. |
Crystaline nodded as Frost spoke. It was interesting, she hadn't ever seen sculptures made of ice that never melted. Would't that be sight to see. She couldn't wait. "Well when you open I'll be sure to stop by then." she smiled. As they walked out she heard mention of the cafe. "Their iced tea and daisy sandwiches are very good. I suggest that if you're going to the one on the corner. "she suggested. "I hope to see you again sometime Cy. If you come to see Frost, be sure to drop in and tell me how your friend liked her gift." she smiled and waved them out.
Once they left she closed the display that she opened and made sure it was locked. She took her money box back to the backroom with her and set it aside as she continued to work on the latest piece. Once she was done she sat it aside so she could put it into a jewelry box for display later. After she cleaned up her mess from the previous necklace, she pulled out her mane clip mounts and made a new pair of them to replace the ones she sold. Instead of round and purple, she made them red and heart-shaped, with the leftover pieces from the necklace from earlier. |
Cyclone nodded, the thoughts of speaking to the pretty mare again made a warm feeling fill the stallion with a shyness he thought he'd grown out of... well at least been able to push down for the sake of his job. "Sounds like a plan then." He said not really sure what else to day at this point, he didn't see the knowing look Frost sent his way as they bid Crystaline farewell and headed out.
"Somepony has a C-R-U-S-H!" she teased and poked the stallion in the shoulder once they where outside the shop and Cyclone felt his face heat up even more. "Don't be funny Frost... She's pretty.... and different form the mares in Ponyville.. it's nothing." The stallion pouted as the pair wandered their way to the cafe. The food they ordered was very yummy, and affordable. "At least this place won't clean you out of your bits like the few places I found in Manehatten." Cyclone said rubbing his chin, the hair their tickling him a bit but he liked it, his mother and father had been surprised he was commited to keeping the small patch of facial hair, most young stallions went for the smooth look, he didn't. "Well either way I'm happy that Things are working out here for me. You tell DD that she doesn't need to worry, she can focus on her potions." The blind mare smiled. Soon the pair had to part, Cyclone heading back to the transtation to catch the last train to Ponyville and Frost headed back to her apartment above her shop. It was odd settling down into her bed, the sounds of Canterlot where very different form the sounds of her room in the Celetial valley. |
((Gonna do a bit of a time skip for reasons))
It was about a week later and Crystaline was once again coming to her shop. She looked over to Frost's shop and remembered that she was supposed to be opening today. Before unlocking and opening her shop she would trot over to the shop next door to see if Frost was even there yet. She tended to get to her shop pretty early in the morning. She peered into the shop and tapped lightly on the door, to see if she was there. "It's just me, Crystaline. I'm sure you're not open yet but I thought I'd come over and say hi, and good luck with the opening today!" she called through the door. |
The once empty shop now had many sculptures, figurines and different types of containers, the ice almost looked like clear cut and smooth crystal. Though it gave off the chill that ice always did, inside Frost had the handle of a hammer in her muzzle when she looked up towards the knock on the door. Instead of the blind mare opening the door two young colts open the door, one with a dark red coat and a blue mane the same color as Frost’s, he was slightly chunky and spoke in a very loud voice.
“HI THERE!” some of the things on the shelves by the front shook and Frost’s pale blue magic glowed around them to stop the shaking. The colt next to the red one had a pale yellow coat and a mint green mane with darker green strands, it covered his eyes mostly and he was on the skinnier side. “Rumble Singer! How many times have I told you to not shout at ponies….” Frost trotted up to them and the door. “Sorry about that… my brothers, oh! Hello Crystaline, thank you for stopping by!” The blind mare had recognized the other unicorns voice, The blue haired colt pouted as the other one patted his back. “My parents arrived last night with my brothers to help with the opening… I’m really nervous.” The blind mare said sheepishly. “Anyway these are my little brother, Rumble and Tumble Singer.” She introduced the two colts who waved ho before Tumble, the yellow one pulled his brother back towards the back of the shop. Their mum and dad where exploring Canterlot for a bit before the opening in the afternoon. So Frost was watching them, again, she’d always had them in her smaller studio back in the valley. “Feel free to stop by during the opening, there’s going to be some food and drinks too, to help draw ponies in you know?” She said rubbing the back of her head, it was clear this was making the mare nervous, she’d never sold any of her things like this before, she’d made bits off of making things for ponies in the valley as gifts. As well as trading her sculptures at Rainbow falls every now and then. Down by the train station Cyclone Kick stepped off the early morning train with a tired and apathetic looking mare behind him, a purple mane clip sparkled on one side of her mane as she let out a yawn. “Why did you pull me away from work again… aside from Frost’s opening… we could have slept in and caught a later train Cy….” The mares crimson coat was partially covered by a simple black cloak to keep herself warm. “Dark Dream! Cyclone Kick! Thank Celestia you two made it on time.” an older stallion called to them, his coat a darker pale yellow and his mane a dark forest green. DD sighed but smiled weakly seeing her Uncle Earth Tiller, the stallion greeted the friends before they began to wards Singer’s Sculptures. The stallion had a very proud look on his face. |
Crystaline was surprised when the door was flung open by very eager and happy colt. "Oh hello." she said with a smile. She spotted Frost in the back of the room. "I'm glad your family were able to come to your opening." she said as she stepped in slightly. "I won't stay long, I don't want to distract you. I'll try and come by a bit later after things calm down a little bit," she said with a smile. She looked around. "When I get a little more time to check out your things I may buy something myself." She turned to head out and saw Cy and who she guessed was DD. She saw the mate clips in her mane and smiled "Oh! They look good on you." She said. "I guess you did like them after all!" She said as she then beamed at Cy.
|
DD blinked when the unicorn mare spoke to her as they approached and entered the shop, the crimson mare lifted a hoof to touch the clips. “Uh.. Thanks….” The quite mares pink eyes looked away from Crystaline as she spotted her cousin, she made a beeline for the blind mare and the two greeted each other.
Cyclone smiled at Crystaline, a small blush under his tanned coat. “Yeah she did…” He smiled, Cyclone had given them to his friend earlier than he planned as she’d found them in his saddle bag… it was his fault for leaving it on the kitchen table, neutral ground and all that. “So ah… you coming to the opening?” He asked feeling suddenly short of words around the pretty unicorn. In the back ground of the grown up ponies moving things about the shop, thin Tumble had found his way up to the top of one of the wooden shelving units his sister had installed. The shelf wobbled a bit but that didn’t bother the young colt, his eyes were fixed his pet cricket that had hopped onto the center table. With a mighty jump he launched himself at the table and his cricket, but was caught mid jump by the whooshing sound of wings as Cyclone had caught him. “Still as jumpy as ever huh Tumble? I swear you were supposed to be born a Pegasus with how much time you spend off the ground.” The stallion said fluttering them both to the ground softly, the young colt frowned. “I almost had Barnaby… now he’s hopped off somewhere.” He wiggled out of the older stallion's hooves before said cricket hopped up onto his muzzle and the young colt exclaimed in quite happiness. Turning back to Crystaline Cyclone spoke. “Sorry about that… uh...little ponies am I right?” he tried to turn his words into a joke as the young colt was swept up into a talking to by Frost. |
Crystaline watched as DD rushed off to go talk to Frost. "They do look good on her." she said as DD left. When he asked if she was coming to the opening she looked at Cy and saw his blush and chuckled. "I'll try. If it's slow enough I'll close the shop for a bit and come on over." she said.
She looked into the shop and watched as the colt was on a shelf and tried to catch a cricket and just jumped after it with no fear. She gasped and sparked her horn to surround him with her magic to keep him from falling, at the same time Cy shot over to grab him. "Oh my.." she said feeling her heart beating a mile a minute. "Yes, foals can get a bit out of hoof sometime. I just hope that when I'm a mother I can care for them well enough," she said with a smile. |
Nodding slightly as he watched the young colt run off Cyclone rubbed the back of his head. "You should defiantly stop by, DD's dad is gonna play his clarinet when he gets here, He plays the concert hall in Manehatten." Cyclone said feeling a bit tongue tied around Crystaline, she was pretty and different looking from the mares he was used to seeing his Ponyville.
He'd never really talked to many ponies outside his family or DD's. His heart did a little flutter every time he looked at Crystaline, he thought back to Frost teasing him, this had his catching DD's almost glowing pink eyes as she watched him and the other mare with a raised eyebrow. Cyclone hadn't told her about this possible crush.... he would... they where close, like siblings. "I'm sure you'd make a great mom." He found himself blurting out and then blushing brightly across his muzzle. |
Crystaline nodded and smiled "I'll do my best!" she said as she was told to come back. She watched the foals running around the shop and felt a bit nervous for the displays that could be bumped into and knock the pieces over. Definitely not a place two foals should be running around in. She cleared her throat and then when she heard him state that she would be a good mom she blushed as she saw him blushing in return. "Oh, well thank you. I've not found a special somepony yet, so it may be a while before that even happens."She said with a chuckle.
She waved herself out and went back over to her shop to open up. She unlocked the door and put the sign over to "open" and then went back tot he back and began working on some more items to keep herself busy. |
"I'm sure you'll find them someday." Cyclone managed to say before she left, the blush almost visible under his tanned coat. He was eventually pulled into the festivities that the opening turned into once everypony who was here to help had arrived, DD's father was a older green stallion with a sun yellow mane and light blue eyes, he was accompanied by his wife,a light red mare with a light pink mane that looked like she belonged in a high posh party and not a small start up store.
"Frost my dear why did you open you...gallery in this... lovely part of Canterlot? I could have gotten you a discount in one of my friends properties to open up shop in Manehatten my dear." Operetta Singer said with a small sniff of her nose. DD's father, Clarence shook his head at his wife, he loved her but she was sometimes to high class for his brothers family. "Auntie Operetta I chose here because I want to stand on my own hooves..." Frost said with a sign, she loved her family but her aunt could be a bit much. "Mother leave it... It'll be good for her to get used to being on her own." Dark Dream said looking at her mother with a raised brow, the two held a gaze before Operetta sighed and nodded. An hour later the opening was in full swing and DD was behind the counter, while Frost mingled a bit, Cyclone was helping a elder mare who had fallen in love with a large ice carving that she said woudl look splendid in her home, more so once she found out it wouldn't melt. He was also trying to keep his eyes on Rumble and Tumble, the later of who had finally caught his cricket and said cricket was holding onto the colts mane. Cyclones green eyes scanned the flow of ponies, looking for Crystaline, he wanted to see her again. |
Crystaline sat in her workshop making things until the sounds of many people could be heard from next door. She looked into her shop and saw that a couple people were coming in since her store was near the opening next door and they were checking her store out also. She came out and welcomed them and helped them pick up a few things for gifts and just for themselves. Usually, ponies would come visit Canterlot for a holiday and buy her things since they were good quality and buy multiple things for future gift giving.
She wanted to come to the party next door but since she seemed to be doing pretty well on sales and having ponies coming in because of the grand opening of Frost's shop. She would try to make it during lunch when she closed for thirty minutes anyway. At her lunch break, she closed her store temporarily and walked over to Frost's shop. She peeked her head in and saw that things were pretty busy. She stepped aside as a couple walked out with their purchase. "Seems things are going well," she called as she walked inside. She saw Cy, and Frost, and DD, and who she assumed were family of Frost standing inside. She turned to the "Nice to meet you, I'm Crystaline, I own the shop next door." |
Frost's ears could pick out a familiar voice in the crowd. "Crystaline! You made it." The blind mare smiled as she waved the other unicorn over. She introduced her aunt and uncle as well as her mother and father to Crystaline. Cyclone's eyes lit up a bit when he saw the mare, though he got pulled into helping another customer carry a set of wooden shelves. DD was grinning at him with a small grin that most wouldn't notice as she completed the customers purchase.
"Ah you must me the mare that owns the shop next door. Your work looks marvelous dear. Simply marvelous." Operetta said with a social smile. It was clear where DD got her coat and mane coloring from, though the shades where different. Cyclone came back in and trotted up to the group. "Hey." he greeted, he felt his tongue wanting to tie it's self up in the presence of the mare. DD was using her magic to quickly write down a order another customer wanted, she was making scheduled dates for it... because Frost was talking with the new mare that had come in, the one that Cyclone had the crush on. |
Crystaline was happy to meet new ponies and she smiled when Operetta said she liked her things. "Oh, I'm so glad you enjoy my work." She said even if she didn't mean it, it was always nice to be polite anyway. She saw Cy come up and she smiled with a pink tint to her cheeks "Nice to see you again Cyclone." she said.
" And I'm here during my lunch break. Seems your grand opening has been good for business," she said with a chuckle. "Those who come here for your opening will come by after to my shop. So thanks for moving in." She said with a laugh. " I think I sold more today than I usually do in a week." She was able to spend that time during her lunch break to look around. Frosts' statues were really pretty. She spotted one that was in the shape of a heart and she asked Frost how much that small one was. It'd look nice in her work room. |
"Glad I could help." Frost said with a laugh, she was glad that her aunties attitude hadn't really spoiled the mood. As the opening went on, Frost trotted over to where Crystaline was, her hood justly touched the carved heart. "The small one is 10 bits." She smiled in Crystaline's direction, her smaller carvings and sculptures where her least expensive ones, not that she charged much in store... that was reserved for the commissions.
Cyclone was behind the counter with DD, his green eyes watching the unicorn mare that was talking with DD. His friend gently bumped his hip and gave him a secret smile, he blushed and pressed his wings firmly against his side. "She seams nice...why don't you go ask her on a date? Hmmm?" The crimson mare said raising a eye brow at her friend who blushed more. "Uh...I don't think she'd have any time... besides I'm busy all week." He reflected turning his head to look at the wall, his ear twitching as DD laughed softly. "That's plop and you know it... your work 'week' always end up being at man 3 to 4 days because of your speed Cyclone." She said gently before turning her attention to a little filly who wanted to buy a wooden pony figure, wanted to buy it herself, she barely reached the counter top. Cyclone turned his eyes back to Crystaline, things where winding down and Frost had made a pretty good amount of bits, though she wouldn't have her family here in a few days, she'd learn to manage on her own, though Cyclone was planning to come back a lot more now...to at least try to talk to Crystaline more. |
Crystaline agreed to the price of the small heart and asked it to be put on hold until the end of the day. She was only on lunch break and she should get back to her shop. Before Frost closed though she would come back and purchase the small heart and take it back with her. Plus all her bits were back at her shop anyway, so it'd have to be on hold until she grabbed the ten bits anyway.
While she talked with Frost, she noticed Cyclone was watching her. This made her blush a little because she had a feeling he was 'checking her out'. She wasn't too unfamiliar with stallions watching her since she was a very pretty unicorn, but most of the ones who flirted with her were the elite types. Very prim, proper and full of themselves. Unicorn and Pegasus alike. It was different to see a pegasus as large as Cyclone, and as muscular. It was a refreshing change from what she was used to. "Is it just me, or is Cyclone watching me?" she whispered to Frost as they talked. "I'm assuming he's single." |
Frost nodded and used her magic to tag the heart as on hold, and lifted it towards the counter with the same magic. She blinked when Crystaline asked her if Cyclone was single. "I wouldn't know if he's watching you.... though knowing him he totally is. Very shy that Cyclone Kick." She smiled before continuing. "He's single as far as I know." She finished. She excused herself when another customer got her attention by tapping her shoulder.
Frost waved goodbye to her fellow artist unicorn and the day moved on, by dinner time she was ready to close the shop, her face hurt from smiling so much, now she knew how her cousin had felt all those years of forced smile. Though Frost's weren't forced, she just wasnt used to smiling so much. Her auntie and uncle had gone once this had calmed down, Operetta wanted to go out to some fancy restaurant for dinner, and Clarence wasn't one to say no to his wife, more so when she's actually behaved herself today with not mocking any of the none 'elite' ponies. Frost's shop wasnt in the fanciest of area's but it woudl do her well to have it there. "I'm about to fall asleep, I don't know how sales ponies do this every day... I have a hard enough time with the few customers I make potions for..." DD said with a sigh rubbing the sides of her face, she seamed more relaxed now that her mother was gone. Frost's parents and brothers had where up in Frost's apartment, Rumble had be loud close to the end and the vibrations had knocked the small food table off it's self, and had drenched the two colts in punch. Now Frost was just waiting for Crystaline to come pick up the heart she'd put on hold. Cyclone was flexing his wings, a nervous habit of many a Pegasus. |
Crystaline closed her shop for the day and then she walked on over to Frost's shop. The day dwindled down pretty quickly after a couple hours, meaning people stopped coming in. She did do quite a few sales and would need to replace quite a few pieces. She didn't mind though, sales helped pay rent and kept her fed. She would need to take another trip to the crystal caves though, to get more supplies.
She grabbed her days' earnings and locked her front door and walked over to Frost's shop. "Okay sorry for making you wait," she said as she walked through the door. She saw Cyclone was still there. "Oh! I didn't expect you to be here still." She said with a chuckle. "I have your ten bits," she said floating them out of her bag and pulling out ten of them and laying them on her counter. "I'll take that home with me tonight." |
"It's no trouble Crystaline, I need to wait for my dad to finish washing down my brothers. Say we're all going out to dinner at one of the restaurants near the castle, do you want to come with us?" The blind unicorn asked with a smile, taking the bits with her magic and depositing it into her own lock box. her magic then floated the heart over to Crystaline.
Cyclone shot Frost a look, almost panicked despite his want to spent more time with the pretty mare. "The more the merrier."DD said flatly as she shoulder bumped Cyclone with a grin. Frost's dad came down with his now to clean sons. "Hey you're the unicorn from before! The one that Cyclone was talking to." Tumble said his eyes wide as he smiled. Rumbled grinned, though he didn't speak, his dad had given him a talking to about his inside and out side voices. |
She was surprised that she was invited to dinner. "Oh! Uh....Sure if I'm not imposing on your family." she said. "I would have just gone home and scrounged up something for dinner so I guess this is a great alternative," she said with a smile. "So I accept!" she agreed.
She would wait around for everyone to get ready to go and she'd follow the small group around to the restaurant. She would have placed her new purchase into her bag for safekeeping while they dined. |
The two young colts had been excited for Crystaline to come with them, apparently they didn't meet many new ponies in the Celestial Valley as they already knew everypony. Cyclone trotted along looking ahead of himself and sneaking glances back towards Crystaline. She was so pretty, the stallion found himself blushing a bit at the though so she shook his head, two toned purple mane covering his eyes for a moment, his ears twitching as he blew then out of his face again.
Tumble was asking Crystaline where she got her crystals from, the young yellow coated colt loved to explore the area around the valley and found the nature fascinating. All the bugs and critters he found... all the trees he could climb to get to the heighest point possible. Rumble was trying to keep his voice at a 'inside' level... even though the big group had gotten a outside table just in case. He managed to get in a few stories about how the teacher pony let him do the morning announcements across the school since he didn't need the speaker system for every pony to hear him. "I'm sorry for my mom.... she's to elite of a pony sometimes...she can't turn off the sarcasm that comes with it." DD had said at one point when the conversations split into two. Frost speaking with her brothers and parents, thanking them once again with a smile on her face. "She meant well...I think...hard to tell with Operetta.." The crimson mare had said with a sigh, the way she kept her self tightly wound made it clear that the crimson mare didn't like being around so many unknown ponies... even with her family and friends being so close... that and she obviously didn't get along with her mother as well as most ponies thought. "If you need help moving anything or carrying large hauls of crystals you can give Cyclone a call. I'm sure he'd love to help." DD grinned seeing her best friend blush, his wings twitching at his sides as he tried to not look over at Crystaline. Oh yes he'd be more then willing to help... if he didn't trip over his own hoofs because she was so pretty... and kind... and sweet.... |
Crystaline was chuckling at how rambunctious the two colts were. Wondering if she ever had foals herself would they be that way as well? As Tumble was talking a mile a minute about where she got her crystals from, and her trying to answer him, she noticed that Cyclone kept looking back at her. She knew he was checking her out and admittedly she did her share of checking him out as well.
"Oh it's alright, I handle elite types all the time here, being in Canterlot." She assured DD. "Now if I was in Ponyville or somewhere less high class, she would be a bit off-putting," she admitted. "But it's alright, you don't need to apologize for your mother." When DD mentioned having Cyclone help her with her crystals she went a bit pink-cheeked. "Oh, well I wouldn't want to pull him away from his work. Though I guess I do normally do it on weekends when I do go, but I wouldn't want him to come help me on his days off," she said laughing nervously. |
"Oh I'm sure he'd make the time. Cy never has to many deliveries in a day." DD said with a small grin, watching the tanned stallion blush pink under his tanned coat.
Was it getting hot it here? Cyclone felt himself sweat a bit as he pushed some of his mane out of his eyes. "Uh yeah....Always happy to help." The stallion felt tongue tied at the thought of being alone with the pretty unicorn that was Crystaline. Dinner went on, the twin colts getting more animated after the desert. Frost's dad had to use his magic to haul the colts off their sister when they had to part ways. "I'll see you bugs later. Be good for papa and ma." Frost said with a small laugh as she said good bye to her family Now it was just Frost, DD, Cyclone and Crystaline. DD wanted to walk her cousin home before heading to the train station herself with Cyclone, that had she wanted to watch Cyclone squirm a bit around a mare that he liked. |
"I thank you for dinner" Crystaline said after it was coming to an end. She waved her hoof when half of the group departed for home. When they paid for the meal and they were heading out she smiled. "It was very nice of you to invite me. I hope that you get back home okay." she said to DD and Cylcone. She turned towards her home's location. "It's getting late and I should get home. I will see you later!" she exclaimed as she gave hugs all around. Even to Cyclone.
She waved to them for a bit and then turned and trotted home. She smiled and as her thoughts of Cyclone went through her head, she blushed again. She giggled like a filly at how silly she was acting. |
Cyclone waved goodbye to Crystaline. "Same to you." Cyclone felt like his tongue was to heavy as he spoke and DD hip bumped him gently a knowing smile on her normally blank face.
"I see what Frost was talking about now... your smitten... i just hope this doesn't turn out like Glitter Cup all over again." The crimson mare gently joked to her friend who blushed pink under his tanned coat. "She'd never go of a stallion line me. Besides when have you ever seen a Unicorn so beautiful with somepony other then another unicorn?" The last part of his sentence was spoken softly and DD's pink eyes softened. "You never know Cyclone... your own parents aren't both pegasi.... It has nothing to do with what pony you are... but who you are on the inside... how you treat other ponies." Dark Dream pushed some one her friends purple mane out of his face and kissed his forehead gently. "You'll find your wings will lead you to your heart Cyclone Kick." She smiled before she parted ways with the stallion to see her own parents to the station. Her mother had decided that they couldn't stay the night ....the crimson mare really disliked how much of a diva her mother could be... but the mare loved her father... and he her... so DD let it be. That night the stallions dreams where full of a pretty Unicorn smiling and laughing with him. A few days went by before Cyclone had a day off. He'd been flying and pulling things over and over for a few days now, his wings felt sore from the work out as he was more early inclined for a Pegasi... unless he was flying in bad weather or one of his own cyclones he rarely used his wings for things like this. Double checking his schedule he saw he was actually free for another week as the postal ponies rotated who they where going to use. "Maybe I can.... no.... yes....ugh get it together Cy!" he butted his head against the wall of the post office gently. Glad that there were not any other ponies around he blushed, feeling a bit embarrassed... Cyclone wanted to ask Crystaline if she wanted some help with her gem gathering... he just didn't know how to ask her... or how he'd talk to her when they were by themselves... most of the time he buttoned up like a famous Apple Stallion. Out side his family and his job Cyclone was now painfully shy as a grown stallion.. he'd been a bundle of energy as a colt... Sighing to himself Cyclone folded his scheduled into his saddle bag and headed out of the post office, just wandering for now. Though his hooves where leading him towards Frost's shop, and by proxy Crystaline's shop as well. |
