Roleplay?
I've heard of this but never thought to try it. Its just story telling continued on and on as first person with more then one person involved, right? I think I may try this. Who's up for a little adventure fantasy role play? Let me now. Then I'll figure out how I want to start this...
|
-flops in-
I would definitely be up for one, and I think Natsu would be as well. Problem is, I don't do 1x1 RPs. Group RPs are nice, though. |
Yeah group is better I think. We get more interested people and I'll get this ball rolling.
|
Do you have a plot or something? Also, it'd be a semi-lit RP, right? (Meaning, at least four-ish sentences per person, no leet speak.)
Hm...I just noticed you said "first person". I'm used to third person with developed characters and all, but if you're not comfortable with that, being new to RP, I could...work with that. |
Third person is fine and short sentences are cool. I'll think about the plot and get back to you.
|
Coolsauce. I'll poke Nats and tell him that this is a thing.
|
*peeks head in* OOOHH does this mean a possible Cu and Lance reunion? ouo
|
Haaaahahaha, maybe. Except in a different setting.
|
Well, Obviously, Espy knows me too well to know that I would be up to a RP.. Haha..
I could always throw together a story, I just need a base and an idea.. hmm.. |
I've had this idea for a while but not sure how to go about it. Its actually driving me batty. An adventure fantasy about young adults who discover they were born from elements...like the Lord of Fire, the Lady of Air, Lady of Earthy, Lord of Water. Maybe the element of Lightning but I don't know. It can take place in our modern world or past. Maybe in another universe on a similar like planet? These teens didn't know that they were from such Beings and so the adventure starts as they set out t find each other discover their powers and who they are. I might me over thinking this. I've never done this before. Give me some pointers.Please.
|
-raises hand-
So I would like to join in. It sounds like a cool plot but do you mind if I ask you a question? What is the reason for them to be lord of the elements? I feel like in most stories there is a catalyst that starts the heroes journey as well as conflict. Is this story suppose to be a slice of life where teenagers discover they are basically superman? If its an adventure story where does the story take them and why? |
Well, my idea was to bring a sort of magic into it but I didn't want a wizard like magic but a more natural power. Elemental abilities seemed to be more of what I wanted....sort of like mother nature got blown to pieces and bit of her became the elements. ....Oh wait! MAYBE these kids should be the children of Mother Nature....Hmmmmmm.
|
xD how they got their powers is only half of it, what do you intend for them to do with them? I mean why the adventure.
|
Hmmmmm. lets see. There obviously need to me a antagonist. Something that causes problems for them....something that awakens their abilities and something that drives then to seek out...well, whatever it is. Maybe the heart of something. Something that only they together can find. Any ideas?
|
The forces of nature becoming corrupt, and usual cyclic patterns going awry? Or POLLUUUUUTIONNNNN because that's a major problem.
...I claim Earth if this is a thing. I'd usually claim fire, but I've realized Earth is a nice element as well <.<;; I'll lave water to Pogs and Fire or Lightning to Natsu probably XD Also, I had a plot similar to this maybe a decade ago, when I really, REALLY was obsessed with this stuff, and had the idea for "secondary" elements, because to be honest, air itself won't do too much. So what if, say, Fire was a primary element, and Lightning was its secondary? (They're both plasmas, by the way.) Would be a pretty deadly combo, but the fire and lightning would have to actually /exist/ before the person could control it. Conservation of matter/energy. And the rest would be Water/Ice (mainly liquid, or something else, since Ice is just frozen water), Earth(wood, grass, anything to do with plants)/Stone (solids), and Air/Ghost (or poison, and they're all gases). |
I like it. the antagonist can be pollution...the evils behind it. But I don;t want it to become a fruity knock off a cartoon from the 80s/90's....not that Captain Planet wasn't goofy, because it was. I didn't like that show. I like what it represented...just not the show itself. Please lets not to close to the cartoon.
I had thought about secondary elements too but I couldn't figure out what would be considered secondary elements. I understand the fire and lightning thing but wouldn't fire and air combo be more spectacular...only because air fuels fire. |
I have no idea what Captain Planet was o.O;; Sorry if my suggestion seemed similar.
As for the secondary element thing, I gave the example of Fire and Lightning because the two are similar enough and are "forms" of each other, if you could call it that. |
NO NO, it was great idea. Google Captain Planet....even look it up on youtube. You'll understand... :)
Yes. I understand about fire and lightning. I'm gonna have to do some brain storming to get the whole thing to be a solid role play. I want it to be good. Keep the good ideas coming. I really appreciate it. |
Omg, Captain planet so much of my childhood spent watching that xD!
Erm,, If we are doing elements, I guess I could be a baddy, I only have one baddy in the lightning and fire department.. That would be Lucien.. x3 |
Ooooooor you could always make a new character. Cu doesn't have elemental powers, so I'm probably making a new RPC for this.
|
Ermm, I guess I could, Wouldn't hurt to add another OC to the mass pile of insanity.. X3
|
This would be my first....
|
So is one of the elements gone rogue or is pollution something else entirely?
|
Well, I would be game to try. Not huge on RPs, but elemental forces does sound fun.
|
Still trying to figure out what will be the antagonist. It had been brought up that it can be pollution...which does sound logical. If we actually make this a creature...might be interesting.
Not to get all biblical...but Pestilence is a sort of natural thing...it could be considered a antagonist too. Maybe because to the pollution, the being called Pestilence is born. Or the two work together... |
The problem with it being a creature is that there'd be only one goal -- kill the creature.
|
OR maybe save it...maybe its a animal that becomes contaminated or another person...We'd have to figure out how to do that.
I do see the pint thou. the role play wont last long id the goal is to simply kill...and it would be boring. |
As much as I love fighting RPs, yeah, it wouldn't last long unless the lot of us were summarily /owned/ the first time around, need to regroup/find more people/train, and then try again.
|
I'll have to mull it over some more I guess. Any of you come up with something, please tell.
|
I have to disagree, to me having a common enemy makes plots like this along the vein of star wars or harry potter. For a while the villain can be ambiguous and the characters can fight the changed animals turn it turns into how to stop something like the personification of pollution.
Edit: That being said if the concept is esoteric enough eventually we can find out that the problem is bigger then pollution. Especially if we go with the idea that we are natures seedlings send to protect the earth. |
Sorry, i have been a bit busy to day, i have to agree with Espys idea though
|
Keep up the ideas. One of these well just like enough to go with. I'll take the night to sleep on it. Hopefully something will come to me.
|
Well, I might be busy, I came up with a new RP Idea, and I have to Type it out and what not.. Haha, So, If I don't post on here for a while you know what happened x3 Just let me know if I am needed to help. x)
|
Ok Natsunaine. Thank you for what you did do. It was helpful. Sorry if its taken to long. I'm sure if I was familiar with RP this would be already a story line now.
|
Nah. Storylines take a while to formulate, especially if they're for group RPs. You should have seen the amount of work Suze and Trakky poured into their RPs.
|
Oh, ok. I feel less of a dork now. I don't want to put people off because I'm taking so long.
I would really like to try my hand at RP. |
Hm....you know, there used to be a free-for-all RP that was just basically an arena. Useful for...you know, venting a day's frustrations. I'm sure Natsu would be interested, and it'd be good practice for action scenes and learning basic RP etiquette (usually concerning god-modding).
If I recreate it, we could either have in-RP OOC ((in parenthesis and usually in gray, either at the start or better, at the end of the post)), or a separate OOC thread. |
Oh my goodness, God-modding? What is OOC. I feel like I'm in over my head. It dose sound fun to me..I think.
I should probably have look up all this BEFORE I attempted anything. **heavy sigh** |
...I also tend to term-drop a lot, huh XD
Okay. OOC is Out-Of-Character. It refers to talking in an RP or RP-related thread outside of your character's point of view. Example -- By the way, guys, should I have Cu run outside and save Lance's ass? or That fireball is going straight at Lance; whether he dodges it is up to you, Natsu. The second example ties in to godmodding. Generally, it's really bad form to write (in action scenes) that such-and-such happened to another character. Hence, action posts tend to be short, but scenes will have a lot of posts. For example: "Cu charged. Swinging his sword left and right, he cleaved through a dozen soldiers, pushed Lance ahead of him, and made a dash for the cliff. But they were a moment too late: With a resounding crack, the ledge under their feet gave way and started to plummet downwards into the gaping mouth of the abyss, and he could only hope that Lance's agility would be the foxkin's salvation. He closed his eyes and waited for death. What would be frowned upon would be something similar to this, though this isn't a particularly bad case: Cu groaned in frustration as both mercenaries fell down towards the depths of hell. In player-vs-player fight scenes, this would definitely be god-modding: ((Cu: Wait. Why are you making me fight Lance?)) Cu spun around Lance, the two of them locked in a deadly waltz of blades. He ducked under the arm of the foxkin, jamed the pommel of his sword into Lance's ribcage, and kicked him hard in the chest. Lance flew a good twenty feet before crashing into a stone pillar, shards of marble thudding into the ground around him. Cu strode over, grabbed the rogue's jaw in one hand, and stared him straight in the eye before burying the tip of a cyanide-drenched dart into his lung. And, nah, it's fine. I'm happy to teach you XD |
Thank you. I just copied and pasted that info into Microsoft Word so I would have it at hand. Hey, I'm taking notes!....well sort of.
