No, I'm not Finnish, and I actually speak very little of the language. I picked up some CD/book set on it years ago, but the usual story happened. I spent several weeks studying it intently, and then I got busy. That story has repeated itself more than a few times over the years. I still intend to get through this set at least, but it will probably have to wait until next summer at the earliest (when I'll finally have a break from college for a couple months as I transfer schools). It's a lovely language (I fell in love with it listening to Erämaajärvi by Nightwish).

But there are monsters in my room.

Helsinki- No worries. Your username was making me curious, too. :) Erämaajärvi is actually on their very first album, Angels Fall First. On the album artwork it's probably listed as Lappi I. Geez, sometimes it feels like I'm the only Nightwish fan who liked Anette. Tarja is an excellent singer, don't get me wrong, but from what I read when they tossed her out she was bad for the band. I'm looking forward to hearing Floor Jansen, especially the next time they come to this area (likely hitting the Ogden Theater for a third time, but it's a nice venue).

Haha yeah; currently living state side but I'm from Helsinki.I haven't listened to the album in ages. I own every single one that Tarja was involved in. Oceanborn's gotta be my favorite album tho'.

And oh yeah, I rem. when that popped off. She was a little bitchy and I think it was an argument about money. And Annete got fired too so, I dunno if it actually has much to do with 'bad for the band'. I just didn't like how poppy her singing was, hopefully this new chick will bring it back to that unique opera sound I fell in love with. I really can't stand metal other than Nightwish so I'm a bit of a snob about it. d:

I'm not sure Anette got fired as much as left. I think it was for the same reason Sammi left after Wishmaster. Before they went on stage for their latest show in Denver (ref: http://www.trisphee.com/forums/showt...?t=1212&page=6), she fell rather spectacularly ill and I heard after the concert that this isn't her first brush with illness while on tour. Touring is a lot harder than a lot of people think, and I think her recent child probably made it harder. Again, though, this is my own private hypothesis. I could easily be wrong.

From what I heard about the first few concerts after she joined the band, Floor's supposed to sound a lot like Tarja. I haven't heard her voice for myself yet, though.

I was working on my short story... o3o The rough draft is due tomorrow at the beginning of creative writing.

-come back from listening to Dark Star- Hmmm, interesting song. I still think the songwriter for Tarja's post-Nightwish work really needs to let her voice loose, and this kind of song just doesn't do that. She has all this range, but it doesn't sound like that is being allowed to come out (to me, anyway).

So today was just filled with depressing news. At least I'm going over to Sarah's.

Had a fuckin' really bad panic attack. (Not anxiety attack.) It's like... my second one in 2-3 weeks, third in almost 4-5. WTF.

Ouch. Hopefully there's something that can be done about these attacks. :(

Nah there isn't, which sucks. Panic attacks don't have a trigger, like anxiety attacks do (ie; if you go outside and you're agoraphobic or something you have a melt down or if you don't like close spaces for whatever reason you have a melt down. That can be medicated) but so far the only clue they have is that panic attacks usually are a result of some trauma in the past. So far there's no scientific cause of them other than that speculation and no scientific cure or help for it. Just gotta ride it out when it happens and trudge on forward. Medication doesn't even help because it's not that kind of problem. x.x

Agreed. x.x I mean they don't happen constantly. I'll go through a year when I have maybe... 4-5 TOPS. Versus this one year of middle school when I had 4 in one day and a total of 12 in one week. It varies with no real reason or time line. It just takes me a few hours to get over it if I'm lucky (the effects can last longer) but we're having friends coming over, and the little brother of one of our friends who just got back from his first semester of college for winter vacation an we miss him so I wanna hang out and then this fuckin' had to happen so now I'm gonna have to make 'em be quiet and not be fun and shit's gonna suck. x.x

Tell me about it. But one of my friends understands and she's taking care of me and helping me be social without having to ruin everyone's fun. :) And they're letting me record Lord of the Rings to watch later (we were supposed to watch it but they wanted to chit chat so; recorded it). And we've got booze! :]
