Yup, she was. I'm in the crowd that would react like Springer.

Tam I am 02-25-2016 03:46 AM

LOL! I fear no furbys. But if you aim a movie camera, a clown, or a person in a mascot costume at me, I'm not happy. I hide from the first, glower at the second, and... I can't remember how I react to the last ones.

Den 02-25-2016 06:30 AM

You didn't seem too freaked out about my Heatwave costume, iirc...

Tam I am 02-25-2016 03:09 PM

I wasn't face to face with him either. Remember, guys in monster suits on TV entertain me. Though even televised clowns get glowered at. Molly didn't. She was grumpy and cute.

Den 02-25-2016 11:42 PM

So my walking as of late has been to an audiobook of the story a friend of mine wrote... I actually won a free download of his book in a facebook contest. My only gripe is that the voice acting is a bit "Meh" at times.

ml1201 02-26-2016 12:23 AM

lol, but that's really cool that your friend is such a good author, usually only popular writers get their books turned into audio books. :3

Den 02-26-2016 12:28 AM

I think part of it is that he has connections, too. He's a really nice guy, and he's funny, too. He was the writer for the novelization of "War of the Worlds: Goliath" (The movie itself isn't worth watching more than once. Only really good character in it was the one voiced by Adam Baldwin, imnsho. And that character was off his rocker. lol). I see him at conventions in the area a couple times a year, because I'm either vending at them, or I'm an attendee and he's one of the vendors/artist alley peeps. :)

Tam I am 02-26-2016 12:41 AM

My inventory's glitched. :/ Yes, I've reported it. But I can't wear my anti-cootie suit.

Den 02-26-2016 12:43 AM

I like your av's hair, Tam.

Tam I am 02-26-2016 04:06 PM

Thanks. XD I already can't remember what it was, but I went crazy buying hair in the right colour yesterday.

Also: I just found out that the way that fluoride "strengthens" teeth and bones is to change them into another mineral: calcium phosphate into fluoroapatite.

EWWW! That creeps me out completely, and I want nothing to DO with fluoride now! Yuck!

Den 02-26-2016 09:23 PM

My teeth are permanently stained because Mom thought our local water didn't have fluoride in it, so she bought fluoride drops to put in my water... turns out she was wrong.

Tam I am 02-27-2016 05:51 PM

Wow. *wince of sympathy* I'mma just pray you're safe from any side effects from that ever.

I told my brother today about my big quest to buy the hazmat suit. The suit amused him. XD

Den 02-27-2016 06:20 PM

nooo idea. All I know is that no matter what, my teeth'll always be yellowish.

ml1201 02-27-2016 09:25 PM

My teeth are not pearly white, they are off white in color, and because of that a lot of the boys were teasing me saying I don't brush my teeth. Oddly enough one of the girls who used to pick on me with her friends a lot when I was younger defended me and said my teeth were white. Just because they weren't pure white didn't mean I didn't brush my teeth. And this was coming from boys who had cavities while my dentist called me her little molar because of how healthy my teeth are. .-.

Den 02-28-2016 04:16 AM

I used to get picked on for my teeth... turns out it was 'cause the girls doing the picking on were really struggling to find some reason to justify their dislike of me for being the smartest in our class...

Tam I am 02-28-2016 04:55 AM

I have scary teeth. But they are very very healthy teeth. I'm very thankful for that.

Lawtan 02-28-2016 09:52 AM

...accidental crooked canines.
Apparently that is a good trait in Japan - considered cute.

Lawtan 02-28-2016 11:59 AM

And now, for something completely different

Den 02-28-2016 02:23 PM

Countering with one of my current favorites by Steam Powered Giraffe. lol

It's not just my canines that are crooked. XD I have ORC TEETH.

*looks at links. Decides to continue listening to 'Bye bye, Babylon' in my head instead* LOL

Lawtan 02-28-2016 03:55 PM

...I'll raise you a Cafe!

...and I have more music! Yay!

Oh, and this

O.O Tam is an Ogre? (orc is Tolkienese for Anglo-Saxon Ogre-goblin)

Tam I am 02-29-2016 03:27 PM

XD All my front teeth are twisted and crowded, giving them a jagged appearance. And the canines are shoved out to the point where they look like fangs.

Lawtan 02-29-2016 05:15 PM

My response: Cool!

ml1201 02-29-2016 08:12 PM

Robots are really cool. XD

Glitch 02-29-2016 08:25 PM

I just realized there is a 10th kingdom book! And I have no procured it and added it to my collection <3

Lawtan 02-29-2016 11:40 PM

More Robots

Kingdom?

Den 03-01-2016 05:33 AM

So I'm working on a 30 day art improvement challenge... I've gotten my sketch done, I just need to ink it, scan it in, and color it...

Tam I am 03-01-2016 02:26 PM

Thanks, Law!

Oh, I want a Meccanoid. XD

I own the first three volumes of that series. :x I watched most of the anime, but the anime is loosely based off of the books. Right now I'm basically as far in the books as the anime, the anime being a bit ahead in plot. But the story is kind of different between the two. The guy and girl that the main character knows? The one that was supposed to be her boyfriend and I think a girl that got bullied, they don't follow her in the books, but other than that the plot is pretty similar to an extent.

Tam I am 03-02-2016 05:16 PM

"Delilah Dirk is a weird little series of books. I mean, I like that about it, and I understand other people do, too. I work hard to make sure it represents my favourite values in the strange ol' comic book medium: like superhero comics, it's colourful, dynamic and exciting. Like newspaper comics, I hope it is funny, accessible, relatable, and maybe even insightful. And like the best "literate" graphic novels, I give it a complete, beginning-middle-end storyline in one book and hopefully some well-rounded characters with depth. Oh, also: no ads.

But since it's weird and hard to pinpoint (like, "who is this book for? Teens? Adults? Kids? Men? Women?"), it's a little bit harder to "sell." Perhaps someone sees the aesthetic, thinks it's a little too Disney, and passes over it. Maybe a boy wants to read it but his mother thinks it's for girls because there's a lady on the cover (true anecdote). Again: weird book.

This is where I ask for your help. If you know someone who might like Delilah Dirk, lend your book to them. Got a niece/daughter/nephew/son/tiny firecracker in your life? It has proven very popular with young readers. They might really like it. Send 'em these links (DD1) (DD2), let them read the first parts of DD1 and DD2. Like many things, I think it's a book you don't know if you like until you get through a few pages.

"But Tony," you say, "this is a popular book. I see it on store shelves. I hear nice things about it."

Yep! THE TURKISH LIEUTENANT has been doing way better than I ever imagined it could. But, to make a long story short – and I'll happily expand on this elsewhere – it is not very financially sustainable. I know I am lucky to be able to make these books and make a little money doing it – that feels like a minor miracle.

So: if you feel that DELILAH DIRK is a thing you like and represents the types of comics you'd like to see, please, tell a friend or loved one about it. Do you know someone who writes/podcasts about comics? Recommend this book to them! If you're willing to do so, or to stick your neck out for DD online, I thank you immensely.

Meanwhile, I'm off to work on Delilah Dirk 3. If you want to follow along on my progress, I have a Tumblr for that and a Twitter feed for that.

Enjoy THE KING'S SHILLING!

Your obt. svt.,
TC"

Guys! 'Delilah Dirk' is good! And it doesn't even have ANY robots in it! Go check it out.

ml1201 03-02-2016 11:03 PM

Don't link me comics, good ones I have a hard time not reading. ^^;

Lawtan 03-03-2016 12:06 AM

I want to build this! This is awesome!

ml1201 03-03-2016 12:25 AM

That is just really cool. o.o

Den 03-03-2016 05:43 AM

So I took a nap around 10:30 last night, woke up around 2:15 AM...

Lawtan 03-03-2016 09:47 AM

*Wriggles around excitedly*
One of my old sci-fi ideas is actually happening now!
...Given, mine used something like ferrofluid, light projectors, and electromagnets, but still! (Actually, this can be more useful as the mix of stuff can make some interactions null...hmm...on to thinking about what's next!)

ml1201 03-03-2016 10:23 AM

@Den
That's a long nap. XD

@Law
Oh? Is this for something here or in real life?

Tam I am 03-03-2016 04:19 PM

Cool, Law!

I think it's a very good one, but there's no romance at all, so you might not like it.

XD Have to promote it though. It's CANADIAN. XD

ml1201 03-03-2016 05:09 PM

Romance? Who ever said I only read romance? One of my favorite comics I'm reading right now doesn't have any romance in it, thought it does have a guy that has a crush on another party member and she I think doesn't realize it. XD

Lawtan 03-03-2016 05:57 PM

Well, first good day in a good while :)

I'll add the comic when I get home. :)

ml1201 03-03-2016 07:05 PM

No! I have to work on stuff for the game I'm running this weekend. D:
