I'm not asking for anyone to be perfect... but at least decent... pls

Biomecha 05-12-2021 11:14 PM

Hopefully no one finds my...I mean yeah, is decency hard to ask for?

I did have to say goodbye to my doggy. It's the first time in my life I've been without a dog by my side. It's strange when you're used to always have a presence following you around your entire life. Like losing your shadow.

mdom 05-13-2021 03:03 AM

Oh no D:
I'm so sorry, Bio. Let me know if I can do anything for you!

Biomecha 05-13-2021 04:22 PM

I could borrow your sister's doggies? I'd like to foster greyhounds, but not quite sure how stressful that might be because of everything involved with the human aspect.

mdom 05-13-2021 11:30 PM

Even the one that likes to bite? xD

iirc Medi Mint fosters cats. I'm not sure how different it is |D but I could ask her for tips.

Biomecha 05-14-2021 03:51 PM

I doubt she can help with interacting with the people, since that's the part that is too anxiety inducing. Especially if they have to come do house checks or anything. We never have guests and I have an unconventional way of living, so I don't know if that might raise red flags from their perspective.

mdom 05-14-2021 08:39 PM

Ah, I see.
Why does everything have to include people...

Biomecha 05-16-2021 11:23 PM

So far, it looks like there is an agency nearby that might at least be worth looking into. My father's dog might not have much longer either, so he's probably going to need the company of a dog too even if we can't keep them.

mdom 08-22-2021 02:42 PM

How was it with the agency

Biomecha 08-22-2021 11:57 PM

I looked into it and they actually stopped taking in dogs recently due to the racing track closures, and aren't looking for new fosters. I might try the orientation with a general type of animal adoption agency to at least learn a bit about the process, but they don't pay for the costs like some do.

mdom 08-23-2021 12:40 AM

Aw that's sad.
but also dog races??? why D:

Biomecha 08-23-2021 11:03 PM

They enjoy the racing. Just too many people involved who have to ruin things as usual. We would take our retired racers who still loved it to do lure coursing. Which is a different style of racing, but still fun for them.

mdom 08-24-2021 12:11 AM

ah, so it's dogs with a lot of energy doing what they like! But sounds like could be abused, yeah

Biomecha 08-24-2021 06:51 PM

I mean...I literally grew up in that world. Around race tracks, trainers, dog shows, lure coursing, etc. I even got to hang out in the booth where they controlled the electronic "rabbit" with one of the race track owners as a kid. They took care of their dogs. A lot of what makes the headlines is more likely going to be the negative aspects. There will also be confirmation bias with rescue organizations, because you only bring in the dogs that need help and not the ones that are well taken care of. But I also don't believe racing should continue because there are so many issues with the people involved. The dog showing world also needs to be held accountable, for various reasons. And horse racing.

mdom 08-24-2021 08:30 PM

Ah, I see. I don't think I ever heard about dog racing in Brazil, only the uh, dog pageants.

Biomecha 08-25-2021 12:01 AM

Are they actual serious competitions?

mdom 08-25-2021 11:40 AM

I think so!
I told my sister she should put her dogs in one of those, but now Luna is old and Fluffy is losing her fluff T^T

Biomecha 08-26-2021 12:16 AM

Aww, is her face also going grey? It's always strange to look at old photos and you realize just how much grey they developed.

mdom 08-26-2021 12:51 PM

yeah Luna is getting whiter in the face... when I see baby pics I'm like... who is this...

Biomecha 08-26-2021 11:02 PM

Heheh, it'd be cool to adopt every old dog possible waiting for a home if vet costs weren't an issue. So many have such a good spirit despite being a bit more stiff in the joints than previous years.

mdom 08-27-2021 12:40 AM

Yeah, vet costs are... an issue. My sister says she spends as much as if she had a human child xD

Biomecha 08-27-2021 01:33 PM

It used to not be so bad, but the healthcare system for animals has been getting worse and also with the increased lack of breeding standards means more unhealthy pets.

I might spend more on animals than children.

mdom 08-27-2021 04:29 PM

Ah true... poor dogs that are bred to not breathe @_@

wait... why are you spending on children... when did you have a child??

Biomecha 08-27-2021 06:08 PM

Future tense and hypothetically! It would be miraculous if I had one.

mdom 08-28-2021 01:32 PM

These days I was feeling nauseous and my bff told me it was a pregnancy. But the opposite of a immaculate conception. Wait no. Immaculate but not divine. Immaculate demonic conception.

Biomecha 08-28-2021 05:08 PM

Your hellspawn would probably grow up to be a lot more decent than most people nowadays.

mdom 08-29-2021 03:46 AM

I'm not sure... I haven't had enough therapy to not pass my traumas forward xD I feel like lil (de)monica would grow up to be someone with too many issues

Biomecha 08-29-2021 09:09 AM

It would still probably be better than most, even if not well adjusted.

Have you found new things to watch? I'm behind on a lot of the new things that have come out.

mdom 08-29-2021 06:01 PM

OH yes I was gonna say I saw that hbo max is doing a fashion competition?? I haven't seen it yet.

I still need to finish star trek |D

Biomecha 08-29-2021 06:41 PM

Is it the one with Marni? That one is at least on my list to see.

i Had a hard time getting into the first season. Too bad Bryan Fuller never got to stay on board with it.

mdom 08-30-2021 01:54 PM

Yes, that one!

hehe I still haven't finished the old ones.

Biomecha 08-30-2021 07:07 PM

Have you seen Work in Progress? The second season started. I kind of had mixed feelings about the first one.

mdom 08-31-2021 02:49 PM

OH I've never heard about it, but sounds interesting. Gonna add to the list!!

I've been watching the good fight. this season has been insane. Mandy Patinkin was a guest star

Biomecha 08-31-2021 05:07 PM

For the most part, I do like it. The second season is showing promise so far, though I'm not caught up.

The father binge watched The Good Wife. I'll tell him about the Fight. Update: He's already started watching it.

mdom 09-02-2021 03:33 PM

I gotta write it down. I thought I was gonna catch up with series yesterday due to the day off twitch but someone streamed the clue movie in discord and it was very fun!!

Biomecha 09-04-2021 07:58 PM

At first I was thinking of Clueless and was wondering if that would be worth watching after so long.

mdom 09-08-2021 04:23 AM

hehehe I imagine it still is
also Paul Rudd...

Biomecha 09-08-2021 09:55 PM

Do we have a modern day Clueless yet? I feel like there has been, but can't recall.

mdom 08-06-2022 06:21 PM

modern day as in something that can be compared to it or a remake?

Biomecha 08-06-2022 06:45 PM

Like an equivalent with current themes. At least Beavis and Butthead is back, so hopefully I can get Paramount to watch it sometime.
