It's really dumb, mdom. It'a part of a fire preventative thing, but they've shut off power to a huge chunk of Northern California already, all because they are too lazy to fix their equipment.
What makes this worse is that they didn't give us warning until it was almost too late, so now you have traffic nightmares and everyone who lives in these zones trying to get extra food and water, as the outage is said to last 1-5 days. I can already smell a huge lawsuit coming out of this. This utility company is a pathetic joke. |
ONE TO FIVE DAYS!
That's a lot of time to not tell beforehand @_@ what a mess. Hope your hot dogs don't go bad. |
golly. yeah, if that happened here there would be a lot of people railing against it. how could you possibly keep chilled medicines at temp and the infirm alive?
I know right!? And we're talking millions of people in California being affected by this, which is insanely atrocious.
Same! The hot dogs will prevail and remain yummy! E- good question, chocobo. Unless if you have a generator, I have no idea. Luckily, my household doesn't have to worry about that. |
yeah, i would think most people could not afford to have a generator let alone have the room and skill and access to utility box needed to use one
I don't think I have an extension cord long enough to reach California.
we could daisychain cords?
holding hands across America, but with extension chords
well, here at home we would just not eat I guess |D no food like rice and stuff survives outside the fridge for a whole day |
We'll need about 25,647 extension cords if the power will be originating from mdom's place.
Yeah we can't afford a generator lol. 20 minutes until I find out if I lose power. :P you know that one scene in The Dark Knight where the the civilian is about to detonate the bomb on the criminal ferry, and you have that music in the background? That'a what it is like right now lol |
Power outages happen frequently enough here that people are generally prepared. We usually have a decent amount of ice packs in the fridge and freezer to help things last a little longer.
I got some news. My neighborhood isn't affected by the outage!
There are some hills I can see from here. Normally, I can see the lights of the houses and streetlights on the hills, but it is completely dark there right now. We rarely have that, but because of this, I'm betting a lot of people are doing that. |
Congratulations of retaining the absolute neccessities of life! (fridge power and internet)
Don't forget toilet paper!
i don't think tp is run on electric hahahaha
hey, DbM just said absolute necessities of life!
and a butt sponge isn't part of that? X''D
Electric toilet paper sounds cool tho. Blinking led effects.
and a vibration setting for the best clean!
why do you have a sponge especifically for your butt?
You could probably do fine without toilet paper if you have a bidet.
It's a dream of mine to own a bathtub and a bidet, like a fancy person
I think I would be nervous about electric toilet paper. That sounds like a recipe for disaster.
heheh yeah imagine it not working when electricity is out |D
imagine it during an electrical spike x''D
Cheaper than a violet wand, I suppose.
Aren't violet wands too low on voltage tho :P
High voltage, low amperage.
What are we talking now, do you want to electrocute someone? o.O not going to help with that, do your own research :P |
No, for my own dirty purposes of course :P
Note to self, don't use mdom's or Death's bathroom.
I think I'd go as far as avoiding their place to begin with lol
You can use the bathroom, just not any of the utilities
i trust mdom's word on this and will avoid them both XD
Will have to remember not to drink anything. Especially caffeine.
But I love caffeine. D: How will I survive without it?
try stabbing deciduous trees and drinking their blood?
I don't think that's how tea happens, but ok
Depending on the tree, it might have some sort of effect similar to caffeine?
hopefully it's not the latex tree
I've probably mentioned it before (probably repeat a lot, actually), but we used to live near a toothache tree and you could chew on the bark for medicinal purposes. Surprisingly can still remember the taste.
XD i was thinking along the line of sugar sap
