Saturdays usually are. Especially around the holidays. Plus covid and all that.

trystan830 11-23-2020 12:35 AM

yeah, that makes a lot of sense.

to me.

guess not to your boss?

Kaderin Triste 11-23-2020 12:33 PM

Whether it makes sense or not doesn't matter to her.
It's like a couple weeks (end of Oct and first part of Nov) back when everyone was at home quarantining except for me and the other janitorial person and she insisted we needed to be open 2 days a week to the public.
But I don't think I actually sold anything and we only had maybe 5-8 actual visitors in the 3hole time that everyone was out and anyone calling was usually looking for one of the many people who weren't in at that time and since I was pretty sure I wasn't supposed to give out personal phone numbers, I got to sound completely incompetent while I explained that they were out, but I could take a message or they could call back in 2 weeks when people were back in again.
XP
Yeah...because that's good for business.

trystan830 11-23-2020 01:22 PM

sounds like your boss has NO idea what's going on outside herself?

i mean, i keep doing this every time i read something else~

This is a subtle horror story, but all the more terrifying for being true.

I went online yesterday to pay a routine medical bill.

Chrome presented me with a message that credit card autofill was disabled due to not being on an HTTPS site. :s-yell:

I had to get a new ID... The DMV is hell, man. D:
My old ID from Minnesota expired, and since COVID shut almost everything down I haven't had the chance until now to get a new ID.

And my mom's license is also expired from Minnesota.... It bothers me seeing her get so frustrated. She was divorced once and they're making her jump through hoops just to take the written test so she can get her license renewed... The laws here in California are fucked, man. Like, she was divorced over 30 years ago and they want to see her *MARRIAGE* license from her first marriage.... !!!! We're both wondering if that information is even available still it was just that long ago! And she never had her name changed after she got divorced and they're asking for proof of her first marriage even though she has documents of the divorce... which in turn would be proof of a marriage. :/

I wasn't able to get the "real ID" bullshit they've got going on now, but I got something just to have my name and address on it for now. I had to pick up a prescription from Walgreens and they still had my information from my home in Minnesota. :O

The dress fitsssssssssssssssssssss

Kory 11-25-2020 08:29 PM

Don't you hate it when you cook and you mis-measure something and you don't have enough to cook more of what you wanted to make? :(

I was making some lasagna for the first time today and I was going to make two lasagnas one meat and one non meat. I had enough stuff to make the non meat one... Off topic, but it's annoying AF that everything I cook I have to make one meat, one non meat because my dad eats meat. He's the only one in the family that eats meat and whenever I cook non meat items he likes it. It's just when he knows there's going to be no meat, he convinces himself he won't like it even though he's had it plenty of times in the past and liked it. =_____=

Anyway. I thought I had enough ricotta for two lasagnas, but I guess I didn't measure properly.
I only have enough to finish one lasagna. >:( So now I have a lot of meat sauce that I can't use... Well, my dad can always use it over noodles, I guess.

But it's annoying AF. D:<

KittyBeary 11-25-2020 11:50 PM

Thanksgiving is tomorrow and I get to do all the cooking yaaaaay

x____x

Kory 11-26-2020 08:10 PM

It's Thanksgiving!!! :D
This means Christmas movie marathon!!!!

And also, why do I cry at literally every movie?!?!?! T_T

Biomecha 11-26-2020 09:24 PM

Got the decorations up even though I don't actually celebrate anything. I still like embracing certain positive aspects. Hopefully no one finds them tacky.

MonBon 11-27-2020 12:12 AM

Long day. Tired. Hope everyone's holiday went well for those who celebrated

KittyBeary 11-27-2020 06:29 AM

It was a good holiday, there were some stressful moments but they weren't too bad.

Hope everyone else had a good day!

Kaderin Triste 11-27-2020 03:15 PM

Can honestly say I don't really celebrate. So it was just a mostly relaxing day off well, except for the migraine that struck in the early afternoon. I fixed my glasses (again. Yes, I'm gonna get in next week for an eye exam and new glasses finally), lazed about most of the day, almost talked myself into doing some crafting, painted my nails in the evening, and thankfully woke up migraine-free this morning. Now I just have to survive almost 8 hours of retail hell and I'll be ready to have a nice not quite vacation next week.

Ready to make this expression even more?
So she went to visit family this week on vacation? Her stepfather has covid. So now she's going to be quarantining out of state for 2 weeks. (Reminder that she is the EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR of the museum.) Before returning. And (I hope) self-isolating until she can get a covid test upon returning to the state, but we'll see if she does that or not.

yikes.

MonBon 11-27-2020 07:29 PM

Oof. How was retail hell Kad?

Kaderin Triste 11-27-2020 07:34 PM

Still going through it. 4 more hours of work to go.

Biomecha 11-27-2020 09:00 PM

Not much, but my favorite part is the jumbo ornaments. It's only a portion of what I put up, there are more lights and ornaments up front. Hopefully it'll at least be something positive for someone.

Well, now that it's officially over, it wasn't too bad. I got to be at the fabric table (cutting fabric for customers), which is way easier than the registers in my opinion. And I think because the Canadian border is still closed off for the most part, it was a lot less busy than it would have been. And I got to go home earlier than scheduled because it quieted down a lot after 5pm.

Also got to deal with a shoplifter who decided to whine to me about how "she was gonna have an anxiety attack because everyone kept treating her like she was gonna steal stuff and that's not why she came in, she just wanted to buy stuff but everyone kept staring at her like she was a shoplifter...etc." Like, honey...we've seen you in here before, loading your giant purse up and walking out. We know you're here to steal, so save the sob story for someone who cares.
Thankfully, after whining to me, she grabbed her partner in crime from the next aisle over and headed out. But also proceeded to try to sell her "everyone's treating me like a shoplifter, but I'm not" sob story to every employee she passed.

MonBon 11-28-2020 07:18 PM

Glad it's over <3

trystan830 11-28-2020 07:44 PM

i was off yesterday, but today was insane as well, like Black Friday part II! i was going to get something afterwards, but the line wrapped around, and down the store, and along the back wall. i said NOPE! and set it aside for... tomorrow or monday. XD

Kaderin Triste 11-28-2020 07:49 PM

Thankfully, I only had the museum today. And it was initially busy, but only for maybe an hour. And by busy, I mean that I had 2 groups of people come in and 1 of them bought a few things and signed up for a pottery class.

trystan830 11-28-2020 07:57 PM

so... not busy compared to yesterday!

Sounds like a good day, cept for the migraine.

daikokunyo 11-30-2020 07:07 AM

Is it just me or do aurum piles not appear in the Crane Game anymore? :s-shock:

KittyBeary 11-30-2020 08:03 AM

They do, I saw one earlier today.

daikokunyo 11-30-2020 08:33 AM

I just went to the Crane Game and you're right :s-sweat: I didn't see any for a while so I was confused.

Biomecha 11-30-2020 11:11 AM

I still hate when selecting my shoe size to filter the options that it knocks out like 95% of the choices.

Kaderin Triste 11-30-2020 06:25 PM

*excited screaming*
The fabric I've been eyeing for (eventually) a dress is on a SUPER good sale price 70% off PLUS I can use my employee discount on it! So I might just get the rest of the bolt (between 5-6 yards)!

trystan830 11-30-2020 06:26 PM

oooh can we see a picture?

Kaderin Triste 11-30-2020 06:28 PM

Once I'm off work, maybe. If my phone will cooperate. It doesn't like to upload images to photo hosting sites most of the time.

Kaderin Triste 11-30-2020 06:30 PM

https://cdn-fsly.yottaa.net/551561a7...yocs=5t_5G_5E_

Oh wait, I found it on the website! In person, the blue is a bit darker, but it's a really nice fabric

trystan830 11-30-2020 06:31 PM

yeah, there is that....

oooh nice!!!

Kaderin Triste 11-30-2020 06:32 PM

For the whole remaining amount of fabric, I think my total cost is only going to be around $20. So I definitely am not passing it up.

trystan830 11-30-2020 06:33 PM

WOW, yeah.
don't throw away your shot!

*snerks at reference...*

Kaderin Triste 11-30-2020 09:17 PM

...just waiting for a MoD to be free so I can buy my fabric now... lol

Also, I feel like I should know the reference, but it escapes me.

Update of fabric: I bought 5 yards and 16 inches of fabric. It cost me $17.82. If I had bought it regular price without coupons or discounts would have cost $87.05

I'd call that a bargan. Lol

MonBon 11-30-2020 09:45 PM

Nicce

Kaderin Triste 11-30-2020 09:54 PM

Another exciting EEEEEEE! moment:
Got home to find a present (that I was expecting) from a friend! A gently used Switch Lite with a digital download of animal crossing! (And some yarn, which I was not expecting.) Soon, Derpy and I will join the Animal Crossing club! Lol.
Just gotta get to a good wifi source to get it set up first.

trystan830 11-30-2020 09:57 PM

nice deal on the fabric!!
also, yaay for yarn and animal crossing! my younger daughter has that on her switch too!

also, the reference is Hamilton.
