Yeah, I mean it really comes down to the "if" there. I think if I could be guaranteed a good life, I'd be a cat. But without that guarantee...probably not.
Because cats do have a pretty easy life if they have a good home and are well cared for.

She wasn't really mine, but I still feel like I abandoned her when I moved away from my abusive roommate. I couldn't really take her with me, but I rather wish I had, still...
