I may actually look for some genre-like works. :D

Sniper? Where?

Vincent 05-20-2014 11:30 PM

Ah I guess so. XD Well you got plenty to add if you ever do, I think.

@ Sabre ;
Aw. Have you been feeling alright? :c

Tam I am 05-20-2014 11:31 PM

*Squeebat*
SQUEEEEEEE!!!!!

Forlorn! It's PUBLIC DOMAIN!!!!

*Holds a pitchfork to everyone* Read it. NOW!!!

(Not really doing that, but Forlorn is one of my favorite recent books, and Baen Books have released it, along with a few other works, as public domain)

Vincent 05-21-2014 12:21 AM

o_o;

Forlorn. Never heard of it I believe. XD Sounds different...

Lawtan 05-21-2014 12:25 AM

It is. I recommend it, and A Mankind Witch (both by Dave Freer) to people.

I don't want to say anything to ruin it. It may not be the highest of literature, but it is a favorite of mine, and the concepts are an inspiration to my writing/books.

Tam I am 05-21-2014 02:30 PM

LOL I'll have to pass, Lawtan. But you're welcome to tell me the stories in PM, if you want to. *doesn't believe in this concept "spoilers". Wants to know the whole blame story before I watch it! And most of it before I read it!*

Lawtan 05-21-2014 10:59 PM

I sent you a PM, Tam I Am...

I guess the biggest thing about the stories of Dave Freer (and the group he writes with: Eric Flint and Mercedes Lackey) is that they are interesting worlds.
Interesting worlds being:

Limited fantasy (either take fantasy back to prehistory, or only having a few fantastical elements; Napoleonic Wars...with Dragons!)

Cyber/Steampunk (Shadowrun Novels are awesome, as are Verne-esq novels!)

Victorian, classical, romantic, gothic, and ancient styled works as the writing backdrop/style (but not the focus)

1960's, Stargate, Doctor Who, or Star Trek Space

Tam I am 05-22-2014 08:27 PM

I once wrote a novel about a Canadian spy team who used their "disabilities" as super powers. And dropped an alien boy from an alternate Earth on them. Modern Toronto setting.

*goes to look at PM*

Lawtan 05-22-2014 09:19 PM

Sounds cool. I'll have to read it sometime, Tam.

Tam I am 05-23-2014 05:59 PM

:D

In the meantime, here's a little fanfic thing my friend and I wrote. Can you recognize any of these characters?

Lawtan 05-26-2014 12:06 AM

*Reads* I...can't. Partly because I don't know what/who I am looking for...one of them...nope, I have no clue (thought Kida was familiar for a moment)
Sorry...

*Finishes digging a hole to China* I found another Archive!
(Something I was listening to had several references to "ancient curses" and I wanted to find the mythos and basis for them...namely, a tale about how a venomous demon was created by sealing a host of envenomed creatures in a jar and waiting for them to kill/eat (and in theory concentrate the venom)into one final creature, known as Gu (poison) or Jincan, or "the golden silkworm." It is said that if one sacrificed to it, it would give riches (or you can let it kill you instead). It is alternatively a potent death curse.

The theory holds with some creatures (Poison Dart Frog is believed to become toxic from its environment/food) and bacteria (this is a method used to create bacteria that fight other deadly bacteria)...but I would like to make the obvious disclaimer: Don't try this at home, kiddies. xD

I meant I hadn't bothered with the tv and couch for about a week; due to either being engrossed in manga or not wanting to walk that far due to laziness.

*pokes around to show signs of life before returning to hidey spot*

It seems like when I'm signed in I'm basically the only one online, literally. And I seem to be missing you (Law) and Vivi everytime y'all are online. *flails*

Sabrehagen 05-26-2014 01:27 AM

I lurk in invisibly, so you're never alone since I have basically no life.

Kilala Mikal 05-26-2014 01:49 AM

I have a really bad habit of posting then poofing. XD Especially during the day.

How're you today Sabre? :)
