Women are statistically more likely to be hired than a man for sales positions etc. Its also the economy, especially with small buisness. Its getting harder to hire people, let alone pay them.

You should come down here. Every job I applied for was given to a woman or girl, minus the one I finally got after a year and a half of searching.

Kamikaze Chinchilla 02-12-2011 07:07 PM

*bleeds from Cron's blow* X___x

I agree. Females have a harder time coming into the workforce. Over where I got hired, I'm the only female in the new hires for the division I'm working in. I have an MBA and two bachelor's degrees, and ended up spending 6 months job hunting. It's an evil evil economy. ---Anyone who gets a job in less than a month is a lucky bastard x'D

Cronislee 02-12-2011 07:12 PM

O.o six months? I've known people with masters who havent had jobs in years. If the gov. wouldnt threaten incresed taxes on small buisnesses, buinesses would start hiring more.

-Does a happy dance across the thread that looks a lot like the running man-

Me and my mom had been looking for a year pretty much and we both gave up and realized we can make our own business. And so a year later and were are still doing good. :3

Kamikaze Chinchilla 02-12-2011 07:26 PM

Indeed. They have to pay taxes every which way. Taxes for the federal government, sales taxes, environmental taxes, special fees and licenses, etc. --people are left with very little net income after the taxes and fees are taken away.

There is also the fact that people have 'less' customers.

On the other hand, most of the government's income comes from businesses, so they want to get as much money as they can (which ends up being spent on people who are unemployed and what not).

It's also due to the way banks operate. They aren't allowed to turn down people who want to buy a home, even if they can't afford it (actual law). But, they 'can' turn down people who want to start businesses with a loan, even if the business 'can' produce money and pay them back the full loan+interest.

-----------

So we have a circular destructive cycle going on here.

Get rid of that home law, lower taxes for businesses and get rid of the extra fees, make it easier for people to start businesses. More businesses = less unemployed = government retains money to use for other projects and should offset the money lost from the reduced tax rate. Everyone's a winner.

It doesn't take a genius to see where the problems are. Just ask the bank people and the business owners.
