I normally don't use correct grammar when I speak, save for when I'm addressing one of my professors or someone of authority. I do try to use proper grammar when I write, though... it drives my friends nuts when I use proper spelling and grammar in text messages. XD

Lauv Keiko 05-31-2011 11:17 AM

Haha! that's funny~
some people think you're too formal if you use 'proper' grammar...ain't I right?

Reyoki 05-31-2011 11:22 AM

Yeah, it really gets awkward when I start bustin' out the fancy linguistics and whatnot. I've had people physically pause and give me strange looks when I use proper grammar, especially if I've been using casual grammar and slang just before with my friends or something. It is kind of offending to have others be surprised at my intelligence, though.

Lauv Keiko 05-31-2011 11:30 AM

My friends would tell me, "you're not gunna use them in the future anyways!"
but here I am...learning my basic english grammar all over again because I got myself a job as an english tutor for Korean students... ;^;

Reyoki 05-31-2011 11:35 AM

Ah, that's cool, though. I could never be a language tutor because I lack the patience.

Lauv Keiko 05-31-2011 11:38 AM

That's where I would excell, patience. ^^ I like taking things slow too.
But most of the Koreans already know how to speak english, so it won't be that hard.

Reyoki 05-31-2011 11:40 AM

That's a plus, then.

For a while, I'd humored the idea of teaching conversational English in Japan... then I saw the other side of the educational fence and decided to run very far in the other direction.

Lauv Keiko 05-31-2011 11:45 AM

What was there in the other side of the educational fence?

Reyoki 05-31-2011 11:49 AM

On the other side of that fence... I found scorn, extremely low pay, continuous ridicule, zero rest and privacy, and enough legal red tape to cover the Empire State Building.

Lunaryon 05-31-2011 11:53 AM

Yuck... That sounds horrid.

Lauv Keiko 05-31-2011 11:53 AM

...wow, that's bad news.

Reyoki 05-31-2011 11:55 AM

Yeah, that's why I switched my major from Education to Business Management. I'm only one class away from getting my Associate's Degree!

Lauv Keiko 05-31-2011 11:59 AM

And now, THAT'S good news! I'm happy for you~

Reyoki 05-31-2011 12:00 PM

I'm happy, too. I'm taking World Mythology in the Fall, plus three more classes just for pure shits and giggles.

Also, hey Luna! *glomps Luna*

Lunaryon 05-31-2011 12:04 PM

*Is glomped, falls over* Hi there Reyo. Sounds like your getting where you want to go. that's good.

Reyoki 05-31-2011 12:14 PM

Meh, I dunno. I figured I might as well get a business degree or two to start out, then try to find something I really enjoy doing.
