I've not been to a con yet. I lucked out this year for one due to money and transport issues. we have anime events though at the very least.

I might be going to Yaoicon this year if there are enough worthwhile guests. The only guest they have posted thus far is Fusanosuke Inariya, author of Maiden Rose. I'm hoping there will be more seiyuu guests like there were last year.

the nearest con is like....i dunno 6h+ away from here.

Ours is like a mix of anime and video games....and something else. Can't remember. Only had the chance to go once.

i'll probably never be able to go to anime north. plus it;s not recommended to go to as a first con since it is a huge swarm of people. the one I missed was in Moncton this year but sometimes is in Halifax but halifax also has a nerd con too Halcon for star trek and that kind of thing.
