OMG, Rousi, you'd love Tamora Pierce. <33 I promise you. They're an easy read, if you start with the Alanna stuff, but you can see her progression as she matures as a writer and with her audience. Gyaaahaahhaaa, love her. <3333 Also! I finished Bitten. I liked it a lot and I'm glad I've got like, a dozen more to go. Now I have to figure out what order they go in. XD |

So, I finished The Last Unicorn ^^ It was a lovely book and I'm glad I read it. The movie is actually extremely accurate. The only two semi-major things it left out were Shmendrick's backstory about his mentor and the town of Hagsgate, and neither of these things were really indispensable, they just gave a bit more depth to the story. Most of the dialog was even taken directly from the book with not a lot of changes.
I did notice that, while I found the story beautifully written it didn't have the same emotional impact on me that the movie did. Which is probably due to the slightly tighter pacing of the movie, especially the end. The movie, of course, pretty much ended immediately after the most dramatic and emotional part of the story, while the book continued on to wrap things up more. This isn't a bad thing, just a difference between books and movies. The other thing I noticed in reading the story is that the two main characters, the Unicorn and Shmendrick, actually aren't that likable, lol. Again, nothing that wasn't in the movie, just more noticeable (especially with Shmendrick) in the book. Overall it was really good and if you like fairytales, unicorns or the animated movie I highly recommend it ^^ |
The Hagsgate made me really sad, even tough for the life of me I can't remember what exactly the town was suffering/cursed of. X__X But yes, the movie was very accurate and only changed very few things. Still, as you've said, good book. <3 And a lovely movie to remember growing up with! |
I loved the movie when I was young and was so happy a few years back when it came out on DVD. I was worried that it would be one of those things that lost it magic once you "grew up" but the first time I watched it as an adult I still loved it. And still blubbered like a baby at the end, lol.

This is a bit off-topic but I recently finished Dragon Age 2 and I found its storytelling to be better than most authors ever manage...all interactive!

I just put some chocolate chip sunflower seed cookies into the oven. I made a joke with a few classmates that if they came to class all week I would make them cookies for monday. They came all week so i'm making cookies. Pie, I took pics and will edit them and put them on my blog. :) ❤ ❤ ❤ |

Yeah :) I just wish we had a bigger apartment or a house or something. There is a hotel really close tho so it shouldn't be that big of a problem. If you come alone, you can sleep on the couch here no big but I feel bad if your mom comes. We have a pull out sleeper...I dunno, you guys can think about what you want to do. ❤ ❤ ❤ |
