(And this weekend I'm going to Animeland Wasabi (an anime convention) with Nikko and the rest of the group.) Soshite, sore wa sore nitsuitedesu. Anata wa dōdesu ka? (And that's about it. How about you?) |
Watashi wa konshū-matsu kara sukoshi shite kita... Watashi wa hai kara surudoi itami o shutoku shite kita Sore wa shū kūruda, watashi wa takusan no shashin o toru koto ga aru yo kimi to iketara iinoni
Translation: I've been a little off this weekend... I've been getting sharp pains through my lungs That is soo cool, I wish I could go with you you'll have to take lots of pictures |
I don't know if this will help, but it is a website I suggested to my friend a few years back to help them learn the language
http://www.studyjapanese.org/compone...ner/Itemid,37/ It has flash cards, games and such |
Oooo nice
I will return later with some links when I've checked my bookmarks through :O |
Chasm, that site looks really good.. =o
*adds it to the front* |
Here's a course I found on YouTube
And they take it nice and slow, though you will sometimes have to pause, and it's good to have a note pad beside you :) Of course it's just the basics though, but I personally think it's a good start |
I added the video to the front page :3
|
Sweet thanks
|
okay new word for you to learn for today:
Seishin it means spirit pronounced s-eh-shin Sentance from fen: Ōku no shinjitsu ga aru seishindesu pronounced: O-ku no shin-gee-su ga ah-ru s-eh-shin deh-su Means: has many truth in spirit |
here's a little tip:
Japanese this and that are not used in the same way as english this and that. In english, we can say "this person" or "that person" or "this book" and it's the same all over. But in japanese kore (this), sore (that - close to the opposite speaker), and are (that [over there]) cannot be used for a person. to say "this person" one would say "kono hito" (hito=person) or "sono hito" or "ano hito". For a place you use koko, soko, asoko (here, there - again close to other person, over there) |
That is more of a lesson then a tip
|
true xD
idk i've been studying too long. well i dont think this counts as a tip but it's a fun fact: (not for beginners because beginners should learn formal first since you can conjugate much easier from that) when speaking - for females - and using informal such as "nani shitai ka?" most girls will not say the "ka" part because it sounds more masculine. Instead they will omit it or say "nani shitai no?" Of course cute intonation helps as well if you don't use no. The emphasis would go on the "i" part of the "shitai" |
would you be willing to write out something for people who are just starting.. like a work sheet and a small lesson?
|
a worksheet? like homework kind of thing?
|
Yes :3
I would like someone with access to homework sheets and work books to help the learners.. I want to see if I can learn better this way =w=, Right now I've been concentrating on the sound/syllable things... |
let me see if i can find some. if i can't i will do my best to create one ^^
and some people find it easier to see it, some find it easier with games. i would recommend smart.fm but it is closing at the end of this month and becoming a pay site. you coul also use anki for flashcards. mmm... there is also japanese word of the day and also you could use the JLPT website (just google it cause i forgot it ^^; ) which is the japanese language proficiency test. it's an extremely difficult test but they put out lessons i believe on japanese words and conjugation |
Oo thanks :3
And I thank you for your help :3 |
np. should i post the worksheet as is or send a link for a word doc?
and i am going to start with basic basics - it is ____. |
Um.. Post a link :3
|
Mm-k.
|
Thank you very much :3
|
oh and one thing i wanted to say is ganbatte is as you say but if you say "ganbatte kudasai" it can be used in virtually any situation (when you're saying it to them) and can mean do your best - i.e. someone is in the hospital, cheering for a team, etc etc.
also shikari shite is also a way of saying hang in there but i havent asked what the real meaning is, i just know when you use it. and one mistake- it should be "kochira wa". Kochira is also a very formal way of saying this. Not that that is bad. It's actually quite good to learn formal. |
o.o may I add you as a tutor?
|
yes. lol my major right now is japanese so it helps cause i will be out of the classes soon - errr soonish - so it will help me in the long run. ^^
|
ffffff. There's one of these? You sir just made my day. I have this book that I'm using and my exchange student is helping me a lot. && I'm (maybe) going there in June. What helps me is pretending that I'm in a Japanese anime and I have to sound cute so I do the peace sign and squinty eyes and stuff. IT'S RACIST BUT IT HELPS, OKAY? Konnichiwa =/= Konnichiwa when pretending to be cute. <3 |
xD Sir? DK is a girl!
and I needed this thread <3 |
8U DEALWITHIT. jkiloveyou. It doesn't sound good if you say you, ma'am, just made my day. |
xD just call me DK <3
|

I'll put them up front so others can use them too :3
|
alrighty.
would you like a hiragana and katakana chart available too? |
I tried to do it without looking at any references. I'm a bit rusty, I'm afraid o3o;
How did I do? >.<;; |
We got some Higarana and Katakana charts up there somewhere :3

All the others are correct but if you go into a class they might ask you to say "onna no hito" for woman and "otoko no hito" for man. <3 great job! |
