AUGH so do I!!
That is the ONLY reason I fear coming out offline as trans. x:
I'd lose my job, though... I may lose my job aaaaaanyways.

But yes! He was very upfront and honest with the hiring agency, he was a good fit, and after one day they fired him.
Totally bull.

Quite a bit of the Southern states are stuck in the past. Up until my grandma forgot that my sister's boyfriend was black (she has dementia), she was vocally against a white and black together. Not that I have that much of a 'better' track record, all considered (Indian, Iranian, and Hispanic). The younger generations are transforming the general society into a more acceptable one that bridges culture, racial, and sexual preferences.

*mini rant warning* I get mad at people that start spouting shit about Iranians or Iraquis simply because the general populous doesn't think like the freaky ass terrorists. I get mad when perfectly nice Arabs are slandered for nothing they did. And I'm Christian. I don't like the terrorists. But I don't like it when ignorant SoBs start causing troubles. Like the guy that wanted everyone to burn the Kuaran (sp?). I was like... WTF?! That's like them burning our Bible!

Alexander Linden 08-11-2011 10:43 PM

Div - Honestly, it's better that you have a job while trans, then looking for a job after coming out.

And that really does suck... >.<

Shenandoah 08-11-2011 10:45 PM

Div, it's illegal to do that. Discrimination, in any form, is against the law... in the states... Where are you?

Belle 08-11-2011 10:45 PM

-poofs in- I like to beat up anyone who makes fun of people who are different. That and my friends are 'in lesbians' with someone Note: I'm quoting what they say to people to get them to shut up.

Alex :
Where I am right now I'm scared to come out O_O
Southern states + bible belt = Scary stuff man.
A boy in my graduating class was known to be gay, and he was kicked out of his house and no one would hire him Dx
wtfman

Shen :
It is, but apparently in Florida he has no rights? I don't know it was just...Horrible!

Shenandoah 08-11-2011 10:50 PM

Div, bullshit. He could sue for sexual discrimination. The kid from your class is a different story due to his family, but the guy that was fired because he had a sexual preference? That has "lawsuit" written all over it.

Divinitate 08-11-2011 10:52 PM

Shen :
Nono
He was fired because he was physically a woman. They didn't want him to go into the men's room and forced him to go to the women's
Then he got fired because it made people uncomfortable having him in the women's room.
D|
Like... Really guys?! reaaaaaaaally?

Alexander Linden 08-11-2011 10:55 PM

Shenandoah - Sadly, it's not illegal in a lot of states when regarding transgenderd people. They are trying to put laws in place in some states to fix that though.

Shenandoah 08-11-2011 10:56 PM

Buh... weh... huh? *brain fry* Wouldn't that still be sexual discrimination? They can't exactly make a little trans room, now can they? And it's not exactly legit to make a co-ed bathroom because too many loopholes that way.

Gah... *shakes head* I gotta get off. Sleepy time. Night, guys. Hope to talk to you tomorrow. And Dev, if you do choose to come out to those not online, then good luck against all the nimrods that we have to call 'general society'.

Alexander Linden 08-11-2011 10:57 PM

No one will count that as sexual discrimination. It's not the same as not hiring someone for being a women. At least, people don't look at it that way, unfortunately.

Divinitate 08-11-2011 10:59 PM

Sadly Alex is right
xAx
Its just ignorance and hatred

Thank you and good night Shen <3

Shenandoah 08-11-2011 11:01 PM

Final plug before vanishing: Add me as a friend if you'd like, guys. And, Div, I'm really interested in what goes into the surgery to convert a man to a woman. Maybe we could talk about it sometime. It'd be nice to hear it from a personal and non-clinical perspective.

Divinitate 08-11-2011 11:02 PM

If you want to Shen I'll talk about it.
I'm at ease with the topic n_n

Alexander Linden 08-11-2011 11:03 PM

Converting a man to a woman?

Divinitate 08-11-2011 11:06 PM

She means the surgery for transwomen n___n
Which is male to female. But... I'm female to male OTL
