alec holowka -- the programmer and composer for night in the woods.

the guy that actually *made* night in the woods is standing by the victim. scott genuinely didn't know what happened.

of course, people are telling her nothing happened or that she's lying due to kickstarter shenanigans, which is awfully fucking rude to tell a traumatized person.

Coda 08-28-2019 10:04 AM

The backlash against the complaints about the guy are largely because -- on the surface -- it looks like yet another example of the same group of hyper-political complainers trying to ruin someone's life over unsubstantiated claims or differences of opinion.

I'm not going to weigh in on whether or not that's the case in this particular example. It might well be true, and if it is then my sympathies go out to the aggrieved parties.

But the problem is that this has happened so many times against people that don't deserve it that there's a substantial group of people that oppose these kinds of call-outs on principle and will fight against the group of people that's signal-boosting it regardless of the subject matter.

(EDIT: That's not to say that they're consistent about their stance. Said counter-protesters are often perfectly happy to call out people THEY think are worthy of shame and bullying. Internet drama sucks no matter who's doing it.)

;n; I'm so glad my baby brother is willing to help me out during this..
Well, maybe he's not willing, >~>; maybe I just scare him unintentionally..with my groaning and dry heaving and growling and crying n' shit...

...anyone who says people never change has clearly never re-taken their pottermore quizzes (house sorting, patronus, etc).
XD

Stabbsworth 08-28-2019 12:09 PM

i don't think pottermore even gives you the full list of questions.

Kaderin Triste 08-28-2019 12:17 PM

Except for the wand quiz, they don't. But you can take "extended" versions of the quizzes on wizardmore.com
Except the wand quiz, which is...not shortened on pottermore, so they don't have an extended version and is also not currently working.
But I did make a secondary account and retook the wand quiz and got a different wand than I previously had so...
*shrug*
People change.

Also...I may have made a pottermore account for Derpy... >.>
Lol
He is a Hufflepuff, his wand is laurel and unicorn hair and his patronus is a dolphin. At least according to the shortened quizzes.

Stabbsworth 08-28-2019 12:39 PM

would be nice if they actually gave us the entire list of questions for actually deciding our wands and shit, y'know?

i actually got hufflepuff as a house the last time i attempted it.

EDIT: Strongly considering changing my irl name to Percival. I just like the name and it's fairly gender-neutral (a bit more masc-oriented).

Kaderin Triste 08-28-2019 12:54 PM

Well, they do give the full list of questions for the wand one. But for the others, I agree. Because, as Wizardmore's extended sorting hat shows, your likelyhood of being in one house or another can actually be determined by a very slim margin so of they only give you a handful of answers, it could be ones that are more slytherin when the rest of the questions they don't ask you are more likely to put you in hufflepuff.
For being an official site, Pottermore should at least give the option to do a full quiz instead of the short one for more accurate results.

In 3 different sorting hat attempts on pottermore, I've gotten Ravenclaw, gryffindor, and slytherin.

Stabbsworth 08-28-2019 01:10 PM

mm.

i do quite like hufflepuff, though.

Kaderin Triste 08-28-2019 01:15 PM

Would be funny to see if the extended quiz would give you hufflepuff or something else.
Just remember that the sorting hat takes your choice into account. Lol

Stabbsworth 08-28-2019 01:23 PM

mm. i might be able to get ravenclaw nowadays.

Kaderin Triste 08-28-2019 01:31 PM

Lol. I feel like I've probably always been more ravenclaw than anything, but some of the answers they assign to certain houses seem like they could actually fit multiple houses so it's kind of almost like they threw darts at a board to pick some. And others are SUPER obvious.
XD

Stabbsworth 08-28-2019 01:34 PM

yeah.

ngl, i've never really been a fan of that sort of quiz.

oh, and i got spacebound on the official homestuck quiz -- i'm p sure it was derse-bound.

Coda 08-28-2019 01:41 PM

My sorting hat results vary depending on my mood. If I were to pick for myself, it would be Ravenclaw, but I care a lot about taking care of people and I'm definitely known to jump wholeheartedly into everything I do. Slytherin is the only one that I don't really fit in, and that's because my ambition only extends as far as necessary to satisfy the rest.
