What's Sakura Ki? Haven't heard of it before. The "Ki" part that is. Sakura is an ornamental cherry tree, yeah?

Demonskid 05-10-2011 12:49 AM

oh sakura tree.. sorry forgot to translate x'D and sakura is the name of the japanese cherry blossom.

Sakura - Cherry Blossom
Sakuranbo - cherries
Sakura ki - cherry tree

:3 I am quite sure thats what it is...

Quiet Man Cometh 05-10-2011 01:04 AM

Didn't know sakura was the blossom though I knew about the tree. There are a number of them lining streets in my city, though there is a large Asian population here. My university has a Japanese garden with a tea house (thought I've never been in it. I keep missing the dates) and is part of the cherry blossom festival in May (and I'm out of town! Dammit!). My brother bought his house from a chinese couple, I think, and there's an ornamental cherry in the backyard. From the living room window it looks like snow sometimes when the petals fall.

That sounds so beautiful.

but yea, from my experiance, sakura is the blossom, add ki to it and its the tree. make it sakuranbo and its the fruit :3

Don't quite know how much, but you should be able to apply for one at your local post office.

I like looking at cherry trees. I just hate cleaning up the petals that seem to all just fall at the same time.

Demonskid 05-10-2011 01:08 AM

I should be going to the post office soon so I shall ask :3

then save up to get one... then save up for a trip.. after i get a new bed.. cause.. my bed sucks ._.

Espy wants to go to Japan too >.< Maybe after college? :D

Ashurato 05-10-2011 01:11 AM

How about during college? Some colleges offer home-stay exchange programs. If they do, I really, really recommend applying for one if they're being offered.

Espy 05-10-2011 01:16 AM

Home-stay exchange...? What's that?

Ashurato 05-10-2011 01:19 AM

Certain colleges have options where you can study abroad (live with a family in that country) so that you can experience/study what it is like over there.

I wasn't able to go myself, but my friend had studied for a semester in Japan (staying with a Japanese family) and earned college credits as long as she took designated classes.

Demonskid 05-10-2011 01:21 AM

I supposedly have a family member over there but no one will give me his contacts or have him contact me ><

Quiet Man Cometh 05-10-2011 01:21 AM

Might be one of those exchange programs where you stay with a local family. I know there are a few school exchange programs. My college had one with a girls school in Japan that was geared toward basic study in Japanese culture/history/language/etc as well as for people learning to teach English.

I'm hoping to save up some money to visit Japan while my friend is still there so I have a free place to stay :)

Demonskid 05-10-2011 01:25 AM

my high school did student exchange.. one of the sophomores came back with the "Hotaru Koi" folk song for the sophomores to sing in choir.. I was sooo jealous D:

Ashurato 05-10-2011 01:32 AM

Going there as a high school student is fun, but going as a college student is better.
More freedom and you can stay out/travel by yourself much later.

Demonskid 05-10-2011 01:34 AM

xD I bet. I never got the chance to go cause I failed my english classes
