aw, that would be adorable, actually....

Kaderin Triste 02-05-2020 03:57 PM

Debating it. Just got to Joann and it's still there, but would I really use it that often/would it be worth buying just for a cute photo or two?

trystan830 02-05-2020 04:49 PM

yeah, i have that debate every time i want to buy something at my Michael's...

Valentine's Day has the peculiar distinction of being purely commercialism. It was invented by greeting card companies. Oh, sure, the feast of St. Valentine was a real holiday, but it wasn't about love and it wasn't commonly observed. (And it existed for the purposes of displacing a pre-Christian holiday about running around naked and slapping people with animal skins.) Rather, a greeting card manufacturer found a previously-obscure holiday and decided to make a thing out of it.

Eeee! I hate those months too.
But less so than I hate February.

I hate the "black history month", I feel 'black history' is HISTORY. It's not like black people lived in a separate time than anyone else, you know?
I hate Valentine's Day, it usually feels like a holiday to emphasize how lonely I am...
I hate the weird half winter half spring thing it does... Where one day it snows 3 ft and then it's all melted away by the next afternoon...

Those are the biggest reasons I hate February, I guess?

i understand you on this point - we're all humans, it's all human history.

as for that weird half winter half spring? are you in PA too?? XD

Merskelly Metalien 02-05-2020 11:39 PM

Ever since I had a weird valentines day with my ex boyfriend, the best thing about valentines day for me is watching the LEAST romantic sorts of movies possible, jusr to make everyone super confused and upset. >:]

We went on a valentine's date to the movies. Typical romantic time.
Except we went to watch FURY when it came out. x'D No couples in the theatre but us.

Now I make it a point to watch non-conventional UN-Valentine's day movies. >:} NO romantic comedies, NO romance, NO horror, not one! A violent western, yes! A dark comedy, yes! A war flick, absolutely! <x'D

Espy 02-06-2020 05:31 AM

Oh please, PA Febs are 90% winter and then 10% summer. And this year’s already been weird.

If it were up to me, February wouldn’t exist, and my mom wouldn’t have and annual reminder of my twin’s death date.

KittyBeary 02-06-2020 07:46 AM

February is ok. I'm neutral on it.

Idk what month I really hate the most, per se. :0

repeating the important part of that: And this year’s already been weird.

*nods vigorously in agreement*

Kaderin Triste 02-06-2020 01:17 PM

Weather-wise, I hate January because that's when we get the bulk of our sub-zero temps here. And also August & September because the summer gets too hot then.

But in terms of other things, I don't really hate any months specifically.

trystan830 02-06-2020 01:19 PM

i don't really hate months, per se. just summer. and heat. and humidity.

otherwise it's all good. :D

Derpy waddles over and hugs your leg. "I don't like viowence. Can we watch nature documentawies instead?"

Stabbsworth 02-06-2020 01:37 PM

i hate all the summer months because it's too fucking hot.
i also hate february because i'm not in a relationship and don't plan to be in one unless i get my shit together.

also, my nephew is getting stressed about SATs and i'm worried about him, but what the FUCK is the point of testing kids for... no other reason than for the widdle headmaster to get a tax cut so that he can raise his wages. seriously, we should come up with a way that, y'know, doesn't cause potential mental health problems in children.

my sister also now has a dog. a cockapoo. cocker spaniel and a poodle, apparently, so not quite a purebred. i'm hoping that the dog gets along with her cat, since, y'know, my brother-in-law has wanted a dog for some time.

Haha.
Currently, I'm in Southern California
But I lived majority of my life (like 98%) in Minnesota...
February's were always weird because like I said, it would snow loads of feet one day, then the next day, all melt away.... then the next week, would snow again!

It used to do that on/off snow thing all the way until May sometimes.

Merskelly Metalien 02-06-2020 05:54 PM

Derpy McBlueEyes 02-06-2020 07:27 PM

Derpy giggles. "He's wearing a fancy hat!"

KittyBeary 02-06-2020 10:06 PM

I'm starting to really miss Castle in the Sky I need to watch that again. ;u;

Kory 02-07-2020 01:17 AM

tbh this was the first thing i thought of

Coda 02-07-2020 11:19 AM

I have a tropical bird of sorts!

Derpy McBlueEyes 02-07-2020 11:28 AM

"It's so cute! What's it's name? Can I give it head pats? Pwweeeeease?"

Stabbsworth 02-07-2020 12:54 PM

never knew coda had a beard tbh.

i vaguely want a beard.

Coda 02-07-2020 01:09 PM

That picture is kinda old... at least three years ago. My beard has a lot more gray in it now, and I hadn't even noticed how much thinner my hair has gotten.

Stabbsworth 02-07-2020 02:53 PM

gray hairs are fuckin neat tbh.

Coda 02-07-2020 02:56 PM

Oh, sure, I have no complaints about the gray at all! ... the thinning, on the other hand, that's a little upsetting.

Kaderin Triste 02-07-2020 03:27 PM

Hmmmm.....trying to talk myself out of buying $90+ of jump rings and scales...
XP

Stabbsworth 02-07-2020 03:51 PM

getting seriously sick and tired of my brother being hard as hell to reach. if this system keeps playing up, i might as well purrchase a bloody casing and gut the components and stick them in there.

maybe then i'll have some fucking luck with this shit instead of having random fuck-ups from the drivers.

I'm afraid I won't be too much help with that. I've got too much craft stuff already, including the plates to make myself a suit of armor, but I haven't had time to go and actually make the stuff!

Yeah...I've narrowed the cart down to $80 and when I get home plan on consulting with my ring size lists for 2 specific projects and removing everything in sizes that aren't on those. Which hopefully will drop it to closer to $50, which is more reasonable. Someday I'd like to spend more on rings, and possibly later in the year, totally can. I am starting to run low on certain colors and sizes. And also don't have a lot of rings I need for things I want to eventually make so....will try to slowly stock up on them.

Am going for scale flowers (small single layer size only) and a collar necklace that I found in a book at the library this time.
Though it may be a bit before I can get around to making them...which is actually fine as it could take a while for the supplies to arrive as well.

Coda 02-07-2020 07:36 PM

I've specifically been avoiding chain because it's just too tedious for me. I messed around with improvised chain (soda can tabs and a pair of snips work surprisingly well) when I was younger but I just don't have that kind of patience anymore.

Kaderin Triste 02-07-2020 09:21 PM

Yeah, I do mostly jewelry stuff. Bracelets and earrings mostly. Pretty sure I'd never get actual armor finished. Partly because I have too many projects and not enough time and partly because I just lose interest in large projects.
*stares guiltily at a blanket and my Starry Night diamond dots*

Stabbsworth 02-08-2020 11:29 AM

so the DST 2020 roadmap has released, and we're pretty sure that we're gonna get a Wendy rework.

time to sit here and think.

Kaderin Triste 02-08-2020 05:36 PM

...just spent more than I should have on chainmaille supplies. And stuff. XP

KittyBeary 02-08-2020 11:15 PM

That bird is so cute, Coda! :3

Biomecha 02-08-2020 11:57 PM

Looks like the annual chocolate week isn't going to happen this year, after missing out on the previous ones. But still will be going into the city and try out more coffee shops. Only having trouble narrowing down which ones.
