A tortured warrior spirit haunted by death but never dying. He lives in the mortal in an innocuous (and rather adorable) form of a two tailed cat. For some reason the party decided to investigate the little oddity. Eventually taking on a surprisingly large quest with lots of history- some connected to their own main villain. At the end they can either fight the spirit allow him eternal rest. Or he can fight along side the party for a reason depending on your dialogue options. Like revenge or a promise you make that if he helps you you'll free him. It'll affect him combat style subtly and part in the game's story.

A mysterious man main hero(ine) encounters and that comes and goes at his own leisure, always dropping mysterious hints. As the story progresses and then reaches the peak, it turns out that he is the soul of the main villain, now possessed, and while he cannot help directly, all he wants is an eternal rest... or punishment, whatever he might receive. Anything, but lingering around this world longer. If the hero(ine) has developed romantic interest in him, he might want to linger for longer, but is not granted the chance, leading to heartbreaking ending, but a glint of hope is given in epilogue, mentioning a reincarnation...

(I am sorry that I always make depressing things out of this avvie, Jurinjo. D: Must be the mask... >_< )

Can't come up with a new look so here's my mule. -Jurinjo

She is a guardian into the forbidden lands. She firmly keeps the party from entering. That is until they have no choice but to fight her head on. They only defeat her but the main villain's minions kill her then disappear. The team heads forward through the gate. Now criminals of the state for murder and of the church for killing one of their guardians.

An optional summon that you have to defeat to obtain. The antagonist also has one of these summons.

I still believe a mid-boss.

Rinni 01-10-2012 04:03 PM

One of the bosses you have to defeat in the final level to make it to the Final Boss.

The little sister of the hero. In the beginning, s/he just thinks she's an annoying brat but by the end, s/he must rescue her from the villain who has kidnapped her.

Toriki 01-12-2012 08:25 PM

A secret boss. Encounter many times over, thinking she's just a mini boss that's easy to beat. But to the end of the game where the player enter the final maze, she'll be lurking waiting for the final encounter with extremely high level.

He's the mischevious party member who's silent, yet plotting.
At the start, he looks like a strong partner, but in the end he's pointing his big 'ol axe in your direction!

Ultima 01-12-2012 08:59 PM

The helpful robot that gives you tips in the tutorial, but that's her only role. Likely a palette swap of an unimportant NPC.

An old moon deity. She senses impending danger to herself so even after secluding herself from Earth's inhabitants for many generations reveals herself to several key characters in the game. Seclusion made her weak, nothing that she minded. That is until mortals are using this weakness to draw power from what they believe a "limitless source that powers all divines". She is their conduit into that source.

An assassin hired by the villains to kill the party, but takes advantage of being allowed to do things his own way by every now and then attacking the party using more and more of his power so that he is more powerful each time, but in the mean-time appears every now and then with a hint or an item drop. Wanting the heroes to win so that he can empty the vaults of the villains and live the rest of his life at an island resort.

hm...I like that >=]

A fairy queen who stood proudly against necromancers against her home. Through fairy lore she is lauded as a savior but before her undeath she gave into corruption. Actually stealing the power of her necromancer enemy for herself. Generations later she is back. Reclaiming the forest and corrupting its guardians. War wages between the uncorrupted and the wood elves....yeah so she's the primary antagonist. Could've made it simple like that but the story was fun =)

Lunaryon 01-22-2012 05:52 PM

I necromancer who discovered a way to gain near infinite power by killing himself and at the exact moment of death reanimating his own body... But didn't know that the process opens his mind to entities from beyond. Helps the main character who felt that working with a lesser evil is better then letting the greater evil rein... only that the main villain is controlled by one of those beyond entities and is using the necromancer as an unknowing and unwilling spy.

Rinni 01-24-2012 05:09 AM

The gentle nature goddess who carefully guides the hero through his quests. However, at the end she pulls a 180 and decides to end humanity. It's up to the hero to stop his former patron goddess.
