I honestly don't think I'd be able to remember my first book out of a public library. My mother used to work in one, and she'd check out whatever I wanted to take home as a little toddler, so I can't remember. XD I do remember getting Dragons of Spring Dawning in 7th grade when the school took us there to set us up accounts or something.

Demonskid 03-09-2011 11:18 AM

*remembers 7th grade*

._.
The Grand Escape
Garfield comics
The Black Stallion
Black Beauty
The Black Unicorn
*cant remember the other books*

Pisces 03-09-2011 11:25 AM

I remember I was fond of those "Choose Your Own Adventure" books that were neigh impossible to get any sort of good ending. XD

.rousium 03-09-2011 11:39 AM

I don't at all remember the first book I checked out from a library but the first books I can remember reading as a little girl were those American Girl books.

Morning guys! It's freaking snowing like a butthole here. Grr.

Pisces 03-09-2011 11:42 AM

Oooh! I remember those too! Mom even got me that magazine thingy you could sign up for, but we could never buy anything because it was expensive. X__X Ahaha. I even have one of those books they started making beyond America. Like, Spring Pearl or something, from China.

.rousium 03-09-2011 11:47 AM

Yeah! I always liked Samantha. :)

I'm finally starting to read Paradise Lost. And that paper, ohhh..it will be done by friday. I feel so relieved!

Pisces 03-09-2011 11:52 AM

I think my favourite was Felicity and/or Kit. Because the time I was reading Felicity, I super loved horses and Felicity was all "Horse! Must save!" and I just liked Kit's spunk. Samantha's...grandmother? Mother? The super stern woman? She terrified me, even through the books, so I would read them timidly. XD

.rousium 03-09-2011 11:56 AM

I don't remember at all, lol. I just thought she was the prettiest. :P

DON'T YOU JUDGE ME!

Pisces 03-09-2011 12:04 PM

XD Samantha WAS very gorgeous. And I'm not judging! As a little kid I did the same with the My LIttle Ponies.

.rousium 03-09-2011 12:07 PM

Man, that reminds me of this very bothersome image I saw last night on the randompics community on livejournal. Pony pr0n....really? Really? Haha!!

Alright, I gotta head to class. Why? I couldn't tell you but I can't afford more absences. <3 Love ya!

Pisces 03-09-2011 12:14 PM

eeep, we're going into the BIOS. Gotta log off. Bye!

Angel Spirit Girl 03-09-2011 05:20 PM

I really enjoyed the Black Stallion books. <3

Zenella 03-09-2011 05:57 PM

I don't really remember much of what I read before the Harry Potter books lol

Pisces 03-09-2011 05:59 PM

Ahh...beautiful Harry Potter. Harry Potter definitely stands out as one of the first books that I fell in love with.

Zenella 03-09-2011 06:07 PM

Same here <3 I'd be lost without my Harry Potter <3 lol
J.K. Rowling is most definitely my favorite authoress. I hope to be at least half as good as her someday ;A;

Angel Spirit Girl 03-09-2011 06:34 PM

I'll miss having new Harry Potter to read.

Zenella 03-09-2011 06:42 PM

Me too :(
But I think Deathly Hallows will keep me satisfied for awhile <3 lol

Pisces 03-09-2011 06:49 PM

God, I know. I'm going to miss midnight releases filled with magic nerdom. ;__; It was a tradition for me a friend. Midnight releases! The release for the 5th one was the best. And then reading until 5 in the morning, wanting to be one of the first people in America done with the book. XD

Zenella 03-09-2011 07:00 PM

Yes, exactly! D;
But...who knows, maybe she'll come up with another series just as good? (Though personally I highly doubt that could ever happen XD)

Angel Spirit Girl 03-09-2011 08:29 PM

Well, I think she should write some adventure staring the kids of Harry, Ron, Hermione, Genny, Draco, and all. Would one of the Malfoys want to become the next dark lord?

.rousium 03-09-2011 08:31 PM

I really should maybe one day read the Harry Potter books. I just seriously have about 9000000x infinity other books I want to read first.

Lauv Keiko 03-09-2011 08:41 PM

Who here likes Percy Jackson? :3

Madam Kira 03-09-2011 08:44 PM

I've seen the movie Percy Jackson, but I haven't gotten a chance to read the book. >.<

Lauv Keiko 03-09-2011 08:48 PM

reading the book is better than watching the movie, imo.
The book is well-written. I like how Rick Riordan used simple words and some slangs and jargons too. And the book is pretty witty too ;3

Corvus 03-09-2011 09:08 PM

read all the books but I haven't even bothered starting his new series, I was just sort of burned out on it

Madam Kira 03-09-2011 11:02 PM

What is everyone currently reading??
Right now I'm reading They Never Came Back by Caroline Cooney.
Pretty good so far. >.<

Pisces 03-09-2011 11:41 PM

I'm currently reading Monday Mourning by Kathy Reichs and Bitten by Kelly Armstrong.

Zenella 03-09-2011 11:59 PM

@lauv: I like Percy Jackson but I've only watched the movie xD Logan Lerman is a cutie patootie <3

@Angel: Yeah that would be pretty interesting!

I'm kinda reading Deathly Hallows right now but I haven't found time to really read it -.-

Corvus 03-10-2011 12:03 AM

I'm currently reading nothing because the authors can't write fast enough...

Pisces 03-10-2011 12:04 AM

Lol, I know how that feels, Corvus. Although she writes for Young Adult, I'm still eagerly anticipating Tamora Pierce's Mastiff that is coming out later this year. > . <;

Zenella 03-10-2011 12:11 AM

I have yet to read anything from Tamora Pierce ;x I'm lazyyy lol

Pisces 03-10-2011 10:18 AM

OMG DOOOO EEEET. Start with her Alanna series though. Her Circle of magic ones are good, but I liked her Tortal ones better.

Zenella 03-10-2011 01:35 PM

o3o I'll have to see if my library has them! :D I'm a little limited on what I can buy right now lol

Corvus 03-10-2011 03:03 PM

I would recommend the Codex Alera to anyone here, it blends political intrigue, military fantasy, and normal magical fantasy...and its based off of ancient Rome :D

Zenella 03-10-2011 04:35 PM

Hmm that sounds really interesting ;o

Aaah I've gotta write down all these books I need to check out! lol

Angel Spirit Girl 03-10-2011 05:04 PM

Zenella 03-10-2011 05:10 PM

owo I will! xD
I think I'll ask my mom to take me to the library tomorrow ^^

Angel Spirit Girl 03-10-2011 05:54 PM

That sounds like fun. ^.^

.rousium 03-10-2011 06:21 PM

*ears perk up* Tamora Pierce? Never heard of her, I shall have to peek around and see what she writes about. :)

How's everyone? Sorry I've been absent and will continue to be so until the weekend. My schoolwork is piling up and I have to make some headway with it or I'll never catch up.

Angel Spirit Girl 03-10-2011 06:34 PM

She writes young adult fantasy novels. They are not childish, though.

She is a rather cool person, too.

I have met her at conventions.
