"Aww...why do you want me to stop now?" Pin asked.
"Just get one ready!" Cyprian snapped. |
"Okay, okay!" Arashi breathed, pulling a teleport scroll from his bag.
"I don't want any more problems with the admins," Ukeru whispered, gently. "Can't you just live peacefully here with me? I don't want to risk them taking you away... I can't lose you again..." |
"Uke, these guys are still gonna get rid of me." Pin replied. "Monster respawns are like...reincarnation...it won't be me the next time around- if anything, it may be a modified version to keep me more like a standard NPC."
"Okay, we'll go in." Cy said. "I'll distract the guy and you teleport out of their with Ukeru." |
"But-" Arashi breathed, but Cy was already moving.
"I'm not gonna let that happen!" Ukeru snapped, grabbing Pin's shoulders. "They aren't taking you away!" |
"So I made sure they can't." Pin nodded.
"Uke!" Cyprian called. |
"They can shut down the system and-" Ukeru frowned, looking over. "Cy?"
|
Cyprian shoved Ukeru over to Arashi and stood in front of Pin. He cast a banishment spell on the NPC, but it fizzled, which he had expected.
|
"I'm sorry!" Arashi cried at the dumb-struck Ukeru, before casting the teleport scroll and sending them both to the rouge town.
Ukeru dropped to the ground in surprise and looked around at the steam-punk settings, before he whipped on Arashi, who backed away from the glaring white-haired boy. |
"Wow, what the hell!?" Arashi blinked and turned to find the warrior he'd met his first day.
|
"Did Ben put you up to this!?" Ukeru demanded, making Arashi turn back toward him.
"I don't know who that i-" Arashi tried. "That freaking JERK!" Ukeru shrieked. "I'm going to kick his ass-!" |
"Whoa, what happened?" The Warrior asked with a frown.
|
"Oh my god!" Ukeru gasped, before he switched to guild chat. "Pin, you'd better not hurt him-! Pin? Answer me! Ben!?"
"Um..." Arashi breathed, looking between Ukeru and the warrior. "I... have no idea." |
"Hey!" The Warrior grabbed Ukeru's shirt and shook him. "What's goin' on!?"
|
"Don't touch me, newb!" Ukeru snapped at him, shoving the warrior back. "I don't have to answer to you!"
He grabbed a teleport scroll and cursed at the cool down, which still had 10 seconds left." |
"Hey!" The Warrior snapped back before looking at Arashi. "What's he on about what's going-"
Suddenly the area around the rippled and the NPC's around town started lagging and glitching out. The Warrior looked around. "...What was that?" He frowned before suddenly he logged out. Arashi and Ukeru watched as all the players round them began logging out- seemingly without their doing so. |
"Oh god," Ukeru breathed, before he grabbed both the warrior and Arashi and pulled them close to himself.
"Wyatt?" Arashi questioned. "Just stay close!" Ukeru snapped, before calling out in guild chat, "Pin, stop! Logging people out could cause exactly what happened to you to happen to them!" "Happened to him?" Arashi asked in confusion - in normal chat, not in guild. "Wyatt, what is going on!?" |
Everyone remain calm...
The voice was that of a woman and all around them. This is an emergency restart of The Game following a massive system crash...you will be logged out and unable to log back in until repairs to the system are made... |
Ukeru relaxed a little. "Good, he's using a system log out to force them to go, not just disconnecting them..."
"What does disconnecting do?" Arashi continued to ask. "They added a fail safe some time ago when logging players out and when their games crash or internet goes out," Ukeru explained. "Because sudden crashing can cause brain damage." |
Suddenly Arashi flickered and he felt a tug before he rolled off his bed in his own dorm room.
|
"Wyatt-?" He gasped, scrambling on the floor before he sat up, the entire world feeling numb and dark. "Oh gosh, oh gosh!"
The boy grabbed his TGS and attempted to log back in. "Please let me in, please! I need to help Wyatt!" |
We are experiencing technical difficulties...please try again later...
The text flashed in front of him like an impenetrable barrier. |
"Gosh darn it!" Haru groaned. "Please- I'm Wyatt's friend-! And I'm begging a gosh darn system message..."
He groaned and flopped onto the floor, burring his face into his arms. |
Suddenly, he felt his pocket start to vibrate.
|
Jumping in surprise, he reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone.
|
There was a text there, but the words took a moment to sink in.
It's Chris |
Nervously, Haru dialed the number and put the phone against his ear.
|
There was one ring...the a second...just as the third was sounding, someone picked up.
"Arashi?" Came a calm voice on the other side. |
"Voss?" Haru asked - although with his heavy accent, it sounded more like 'Boss'.
The Game had a translating system that filtered out his accent, making it sound as if he spoke perfect English. But outside of it, his English wasn't too great. |
There was a laughed.
"Yes, it's 'Voss'." The other person replied. "Are you okay?" |
"I was logged out," Haru explained, frowning as he got up and took a seat in front of his laptop. "And this is no time to make fun of my accent. I am worried about Saipuress [He means Cy xD]! Something happened between he and Pin and then systems went down!"
|
"I know you are and that's why I'm calling you." Chris said. "Okay, I'm going to tell you something I shouldn't know, but do. You need to find Cy, his real name is Ben and he's on your campus."
|
"Benshamin Kurisuti?" Haru asked.
There was a pause before he heard Kris snort. "Yes dear, Benjamin Kristy," She informed. "That is what he said. Forgive him, Haru. His ability to comprehend accents is very poor." "Daijoubu," ["Its alright"] Haru assured. "Is okay. I understand. I know Benshamin. He is in my classes... you are telling me that this is Cy?" "Tall, dark, handsome, and cold?" Kris inquired. Haru's cheeks turned a little pink. "I would say so... yes..." "That's him," Kris snorted. |
"Tall for Arashi, he's like 5'5" in real life." Haru heard Chris snort.
|
"He's taller then me and I am 5'5", you idiot!" Kris snapped, before sighing. "Haru, his dorm number is 248. The dorm lady should let you in, just tell her that The Game crashed and you haven't gotten a hold of him. She'll understand."
"She knows of The Game?" Haru asked in surprise. "Her son plays it," Kris explained. "Hurry, please!" "I am already on the second floor," Haru informed. "I took the stairs." "He moves a hell of a lot faster then you," Kris informed her husband. |
"Only on his feet, I just like driving more." Chris laughed. "Hey, should we call a doctor or something, just in case?"
|
"You will have to tell me," Haru informed. "I do not know what is going on. One moment Ukeru is acting friendly with an NPC, the next moment I am on my floor. I did not know an NPC could have that kind of power."
"Pin isn't an NPC," Kris informed. |
"It's complicated kiddo, he ain't really a person either." Chris sighed.
|
"I promise we'll explain later," Kris informed.
"She is unlocking the room now," Haru said as the woman clicked the key and pushed the door open. |
When Haru stepped in, he found the lights out and the computer on the desk still on, but Ben wasn't at his desk. He was lying on the floor with his headset still on.
|
Haru dropped the phone and rushed over to him, quickly checking his pulse and leaning in to listen for breathing. "Call an ambulance!"
