I drew a hand one time really well in high school, then after that I couldn't get another one to look so good. x'D

Tam I am 12-10-2014 03:24 PM

I can draw both hands and feet. I just can't draw the REST.

Den 12-10-2014 04:33 PM

Feet aren't so difficult. Hands are really tricky.

Lawtan 12-10-2014 06:06 PM

Feet and chests (Pecs/Breasts in relation to the shoulders and head) I have trouble with. I tend to have to redraw them several times. Hands are so-so.

ml1201 12-10-2014 06:18 PM

Actually, I have to agree with Law, torso areas are hard to draw. x'D

kiki 12-11-2014 03:46 AM

the easiest is the hair! 8D
for some reason i cant draw bald people because then it will look very weird to me XD

ml1201 12-11-2014 08:16 AM

For me it depends on what kind of hair. XD

Espy 12-11-2014 03:59 PM

Hm...Hands and hair are pretty easy for me. Feet are a bit harder, depending on the angle.

I did...lots of torso/body sketch practices a couple years back, so that part's fine for me. Bit of an anatomy stickler. Law knows.

EDIT: Speaking of which, if anyone ever wants some redlining advice, feel free to ask.

ml1201 12-11-2014 06:52 PM

Is it only for realistic drawings or any kind of drawings? My good friend from another site used to help people but if it came to anything cartoon-ish (anime included) they had a hard time helping because it was dependent on a style.

Lawtan 12-11-2014 07:19 PM

*Waves Hand* I am terrible with cartoon styles

ml1201 12-11-2014 07:41 PM

Same here but I can't draw people without a photo or something. x'D

Lawtan 12-11-2014 08:45 PM

From what I understand, most good artists use references...they just use more tailored references as they develop better drawing skills in certain areas.

"You can draw a hand? Good, now you need to reference a sword." sort of thing.

ml1201 12-11-2014 09:42 PM

True, you always need a good reference with art, but some people are able to draw anime/cartoon style things and I can't possibly draw like that, I used to be decent at it, then I just kind of went down hill. x'D

Den 12-11-2014 10:18 PM

I'm going to let y'all in on a little secret: I don't draw every day. And most days, if I do draw, and it's something other than a woman whose body proportions are similar to mine, I reference the crap out of it. I'll reference poses if I've never drawn 'em before. I'll reference hands holding things, gesticulating, etc. REFERENCES ARE A GOOD THING.

Sorry, late reply, fell asleep.

I have a...I guess it's considered semi-realistic...style. I haven't drawn in a while, but here's a somewhat old example...

ml1201 12-11-2014 10:39 PM

I know. x'D I've used references for drawing anime like things, but I can never get satisfied with what I'm doing and it makes me mad. x'D

Edit:
Since Espy is a ninja! x'D That looks awesome. o.o Have you thought of doing art on the side? My friend KC does her NeonGlow comic and is paid to do the Iron Hearts comic, which is awesome for her because that's the kind of thing she's always wanted to do. You're art is really good and could be a style that people would want for their comics.

Espy 12-11-2014 11:41 PM

My style doesn't really work well for comics, I think, due to the massive amount of detail I get myself into.

Lawtan 12-12-2014 12:04 AM

So, bad for multiple-pages-a-week comics, but good for 1x-a-week comics, possibly...

Espy 12-12-2014 12:35 AM

Not necessarily. You know my attention span, haha.

kiki 12-12-2014 07:11 AM

i never even tried to make comics because i though it will be too much to take so much measurement and draw boxes and then draw . n .

ml1201 12-12-2014 09:19 AM

There's a art program you can get, I think it's free too, that you can use for that but I forget which one it is. When I get off work I'll ask my friend Jess because I think she uses it for her comic as well.

@Espy
Not even if it was a black and white one?

Tam I am 12-12-2014 06:36 PM

Cartoony people is what I wind up doing. Little pudgy things. But I'd really rather just use words.

Espy 12-12-2014 06:51 PM

Ahaha, you people :P There've been quite a few people asking me about doing a comic, but I really doubt I'll ever get around to that. I'm not good at commitments like that, really, and my style shifts drastically depending on my mood.

ml1201 12-12-2014 08:06 PM

Ah, well its your choice, you know how you work better than anyone else. :3 You could still try doing commissions though. :3

Espy 12-13-2014 02:08 AM

I do occasionally try taking commissions. I'm not good at finishing them >.>

ml1201 12-13-2014 09:18 AM

x'D
Poor Espy, do you warn people that at times that happens?

Lawtan 12-13-2014 02:09 PM

*Is still somewhat trying to understand how things like commissions work*

ml1201 12-13-2014 06:38 PM

Usually what my friend KC does is make up a quick sketch after people have seen her work and show interest. If they like the sketch (which is not very detailed but has all the positions set up) she will proceed with the work asking for partial payment, this way if the person changes their mind after you've already started working on it or have finished it you can at least get some money for the time you took to do it.

It's called GIMP. It works similarly to Photoshop, and I do all my artwork that gets colored on the computer in it.

ml1201 12-13-2014 08:44 PM

No, I mean one that's specifically made for making comics in. XD GIMP you still have to make the squares and stuff yourself, but there's one that you can customize the squares and stuff. I don't remember if it was Fire Alpaca or something else though. x'D

Lawtan 12-14-2014 10:50 AM

...On another note, could someone with a positive outlook on life message me...

*Is somewhat in a rut*

I try to, but.... /swt

Tam I am 12-14-2014 04:08 PM

Has anyone seen my marbles?

ml1201 12-14-2014 06:49 PM

I think I saw them roll under the couch Tam. :3

Tam I am 12-16-2014 01:07 AM

...That explains why my brain is so fuzzy. Honestly, I'm starting to worry that people will think I'm stoned or something.

Lawtan 12-16-2014 01:17 AM

*Dusts off marbles and returns them to Tam*

...is anyone free for me to ask questions about characters I am working on? Unfortunately, several ideas I have touch touchy topics, and I don't want to write them out badly. I also want to try to avoid 1-note characters and things like that.

ml1201 12-16-2014 10:26 AM

I'm not sure if I'm the person to ask, I don't know if my characters are not like that. Though Gall does like my fox demon character, no idea why. o.O I think he's soon a lot of over rated ones or ones that were kind of a rip off of like Naruto or something. :/

Lawtan 12-16-2014 01:05 PM

Sorry for the long text and all...

ml1201 12-16-2014 10:21 PM

Hm...With her training assassins there's a chance of her getting off by one of her own. I would add into that bundle for her that she doesn't trust people, even more so with all these mental issues she has. It would make her seem more real, even more so if she's cunning enough to get all those people killed and rule over them with fear for so long before getting killed.

Give her a damaged child that she cares for in a sane and normal manner, and would kill to protect?
