I think it's more a question of what subs are good under her and the synergy therein.
Of note: Ronia's active skill synergizes with row-enhance awakenings (in an ideal scenario it can add 1.33x damage to fire and 1.21x damage to dark, or vice-versa) and her leader skill is hands-down one of the biggest RCV boosts available on something with a >2xATK boost, especially for Devil-types that tend towards high HP and low RCV.
Furthermore, devils are ridiculously broad; something like 1/3 of the favs in my box stay lit up when I filter on devil-types. You can find a lot of effective subs that work under Ronia, and you can change them up as needed. (Unfortunately, the best ones are REM.)
And of course, dark-type damage also goes unresisted by all but a very small selection of enemies.
Meanwhile...
Verdandi's active skill provides less of a damage spike (and keep in mind that endgame play depends on ridiculous spikes) and she doesn't provide any row-enhance awakenings to make a color-change active worthwhile. (Note that orb enhance abilities don't trigger on orb-changers!)
Her leader skill provides a bigger ATK boost (which is very nice!) but it provides a fairly small HP buff and no RCV. That amount of HP demands good RCV to back it up, which means you've got to be packing RCV stat sticks in the party.
Team composition under Verdandi is also difficult. There aren't that many G/R or R/G monsters, and most of the monsters that do carry that element combination suck, so that leaves you packing mostly G monsters and splashing in fire where you can.
And finally, the elementalities limit which dungeons Verdandi can be effective in.
EDIT: I did squeak in School Gang Leader, Gigas before the event ended, but it was an exercise in frustration. Ginny never landed Athena out of the Academy REM, either.
