It wasn't the medical leave that caused me to lose my job. That was just a very unfortunate circumstance of timing. I gave more of the story in the Daily Awful thread, but the short version is that I think I'm the scapegoat for a project running into repeated delays.

But I wonder why you were the scapegoat when they were asking you to do two jobs with no more pay? (I know why they did, easy to blame someone who they gave too much for their plate, but like logic says you shouldn't.)

Well, they were paying me more. I don't know how I compared to other senior engineers toward the end, but there was a time when I was the highest-paid engineer in the department. I'm sure that played into it at least a little.

Still probably not the same amount as paying you plus someone else to do the other job.

If only you could prove that was why...well, they may find out soon enough WHY they paid you more.
