(。◕‿◕。) Yay he's happy!~

Ah I've seen that yarn before Femme. I hope it sells.

╚═════════════════════════════════╝

femme gauche 08-29-2011 07:29 PM

Thank you :). I've not actually seen a spun, plied version that was 100% plastic. Not on Etsy. There were plied versions that were plied with wool or something, basically acting as a core to hold it together. However any more that I make will most likely be single ply.

Saiyouri 08-29-2011 07:34 PM

╔═════════════════════════════════╗

(。◕‿◕。) Cool. It's pretty cool that you made that though.

╚═════════════════════════════════╝

femme gauche 08-29-2011 07:49 PM

Yeah. The plying thing was experimental as it was the first time I'd plied. I'd actually like to spin with some animal or plant fibers, just to see how it feels (quite different from plastic I am sure!) but actually spinning is really fun.

Saiyouri 08-29-2011 07:53 PM

╔═════════════════════════════════╗

(。◕‿◕。) It sure sounds relaxing for sure.

╚═════════════════════════════════╝

*nods* The spindle I have I made, by cutting some disks out of corrugated cardboard and alternating their grain (to add strength), glued them together, and then glued the whole thing onto a dowel about 1' in length (I didn't measure it or anything like that, just guessed), 1/4 of the way from one end.

Saiyouri 08-29-2011 08:51 PM

╔═════════════════════════════════╗

(。◕‿◕。) Wow, that is cool. It's amazing that you figured that out
on your own. I don't think I would of been
able to figure something like that out if I
tried to spin. But I sure would love to try
to spin, sounds so much fun and relaxing.
But knowing my luck, I wouldn't get far with
4 cats.

╚═════════════════════════════════╝

femme gauche 08-29-2011 08:54 PM

Aw... well, I am guessing they would make it difficult, but certainly it could still be worthwhile. *nods*. Some more unorthodox spinners might venture to use the cats' hair to spin with!

Saiyouri 08-29-2011 09:16 PM

╔═════════════════════════════════╗

(。◕‿◕。) LMFAO, and it would be a unique look since the kitties
left a special touch on it. Hehe. They
definatley would be very helpful.

╚═════════════════════════════════╝

femme gauche 08-29-2011 09:18 PM

I'm not even joking about the hair. Hey, we use sheeps' hair, goats' hair, rabbits' hair... why not a cat eh? Heh. Dogs as well, though generally I think the "wet dog" smell lingers for awhile (though I think it can be removed)

Saiyouri 08-29-2011 10:05 PM

╔═════════════════════════════════╗

(。◕‿◕。) Really? I never knew people use animals hair to spin with.
I know of sheeps wool but never knew goats hair
was used before.

╚═════════════════════════════════╝

femme gauche 08-29-2011 10:08 PM

Yes, cashmere is the product of an angora goat... so named because I guess much of it comes from Kashmir. Alpaca is another commonly used, soft and warm fiber. Angora rabbit fur is very fine and so is typically mixed with other fibers such as wool or something.

Saiyouri 08-29-2011 10:15 PM

╔═════════════════════════════════╗

(。◕‿◕。) Wow, that's cool.

╚═════════════════════════════════╝

femme gauche 08-29-2011 10:25 PM

The world of fiber art is a fascinating world indeed, as old as civilization and as modern as iphone apps :3.

Saiyouri 08-29-2011 10:39 PM

╔═════════════════════════════════╗

(。◕‿◕。) Hehe.

I just watched some crochet videos. I might
try to do a amigurimi. I do have some yarn
in the house so I might just try one. See if
I like it and if I can handle crocheting. I
am damn good at chains though lol not doubles.

╚═════════════════════════════════╝

femme gauche 08-29-2011 11:28 PM

Amigurumi typically uses single crochet ;). But it took awhile for me to get crochet... I still have a hard time with it, but many find it to be easier than knitting, so it is all just a matter of personal comfort...

Saiyouri 08-29-2011 11:31 PM

╔═════════════════════════════════╗

(。◕‿◕。) I tried out knitting and I love it. I just need to
put time into it for once. I found that
I had a easier time knitting than I ever
did crocheting. The farthest I got on crocheting
is a single chain. I'm still working on getting
a double one done. Not going that well though.

╚═════════════════════════════════╝

femme gauche 08-29-2011 11:54 PM

I'm not sure what you mean by double chain?

Echo-chan713 08-30-2011 12:03 AM

it's when you make a chan then you go over again some call that a double chain BI I just like "chain 16 then sc"

femme gauche 08-30-2011 12:13 AM

That I am familiar with; and I know that UK terminology calls the US "single crochet" a double, slip stitch being a single... just double chain I had not heard.

☪ஐﻬ☽ Well I was making a April themed biscornu.
But I chose to rip out the floss and start
with a new project. I just wasn't feeling
the whole thing. So right now I'm working
on a single piece called Tea for Two. It's
a rather cute thing. 2 cups with a smoke like
thing. Simple and easy, something I need right
now in order to stitch right now or else I'd
be doing nothing all day again.

Aw, that's nice though that you have something to do now.

In other news, I have my computer back! No data lost (I opened Chrome and all of my tabs opened again, haha), and it looks like it is brand new! I am $140 poorer (a $280 payment but my parents contributed half of that, for which I am very appreciative), but it is a hell of a lot better than the $755 that the warehouse that Apple sent it to would have charged me.

I'm glad you got your computer back Femme.

Yah.

Hoboy... wait.

Oh yeah I remember now. I really need to get my license x_o. Biking to work is wearisome.

Echo-chan713 09-07-2011 12:35 PM

I got denied of interview and low luck on jobs because I don't drive

femme gauche 09-07-2011 10:30 PM

That seems ... stupid . You can find transportation if you need to. I am fortunate to have a job that's close, because our transportation system here is lame.

*sneaks into the thread*

femme gauche 09-07-2011 10:56 PM

Hey Airina :).

Airina 09-07-2011 10:58 PM

How are you femme?

femme gauche 09-07-2011 10:59 PM

I'm all right. My mom is watching The Mentalist. It's a decent show, but I prefer the funnier crime shows.

Airina 09-07-2011 11:06 PM

Ahhhhh nice honey.

femme gauche 09-07-2011 11:08 PM

Yeah, haha. In particular I like Psych. My mom also got me into watching Columbo on Netflix.

Airina 09-07-2011 11:11 PM

Gaaaaaah I looooove Psych!!!!

femme gauche 09-07-2011 11:18 PM

Somehow it seems to be the most realistic. I've never been a cop so I don't know the inside of it all, but... kind of funny since it is supposed to be silly. Oh I like Medium too. That is actually supposed to be based on an actual person XD.

Airina 09-07-2011 11:24 PM

Psych is just so funny!!

femme gauche 09-07-2011 11:25 PM

Yeah, plus Shawn is cute. I don't know about James Roday, but... Shawn is adorable XD.

Airina 09-07-2011 11:32 PM

Its so true!!!
